Here's Why Kim Kardashian was Fighting Legal Battle At Lavish Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sanchez Wedding

Pink Villa05-07-2025
As Kim Kardashian stood among the A-list guests at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's opulent Venetian wedding in late June 2025, she was also embroiled in a public legal battle back in the United States.
The reality star and aspiring lawyer was responding to a lawsuit filed by a New York man named Ivan Cantu, who alleges serious reputational harm after Kardashian publicly posted his photo in place of a Texas death row inmate she was advocating for in 2024.
The confusion arose due to the shared name, Ivan Cantu, but Kardashian's post, seen by millions, tied the innocent man to a capital murder case. The legal filings were signed by Kardashian on June 26 in Venice, just one day before the Bezos wedding festivities kicked off.
Mistaken identity sparks emotional distress lawsuit
According to court documents, Kardashian had posted a series of Instagram stories in February 2024 calling attention to the Texas inmate's case, aiming to stay his execution. However, one of the posts featured an image of the wrong Ivan Cantu, a project manager based in New York.
The plaintiff claimed that the post caused him 'emotional distress,' 'invasion of privacy,' and other damages including sleep loss and PTSD. Kim's legal team called the lawsuit meritless and said the image was removed within hours.
'This lawsuit is an attempt to cash in on a mistake,' her lawyer stated, per US Weekly. Kardashian also issued a public apology shortly after the error was discovered.
Kardashian's advocacy meets legal scrutiny
In a signed declaration, Kim emphasized her dedication to criminal justice reform, asserting that her advocacy work is rooted in personal conviction and not commercial gain. 'The use of Plaintiff's image in the February 26 Story was a mistake and was not done intentionally,' she stated in the declaration.
She described the mix-up as inadvertent and expressed remorse for the error. 'I would not have used the image appearing in the February 26 Story had I known that it was a picture of Plaintiff and not Mr. Cantu,' she said. The case remains ongoing.

Tanushree Dutta posts distress video alleging years of harassment, says 'My health is ruined… my house is a mess'

Tanushree Dutta has once again brought attention to her personal struggle, this time through a deeply emotional video on Instagram where she broke down in tears and accused unknown persons of harassing her in her own home.'Guys I am being harassed in my own home. Mujhe mere he ghar mein pareshaan kiya ja raha hai,' she said, visibly distressed. 'I just called the cops and they have asked me to visit a police station and lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow and do that, I am not keeping well. Mujhe itna pareshaan kiya gaya hai pichle 4-5 saalo me ki meri tabyet kharab ho gayi hai. I am not able to do anything, my house is a mess.' She also wrote in the video caption, 'I'm sick and tired of this harassment!! It's been going on since 2018 #metoo. Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya... Please someone help me! Do something before it's too late.' The harassment, according to Dutta, includes much more than just emotional distress. She spoke of frequent and unexplained loud noises outside her flat and above her ceiling, which she claims have been happening almost daily since 2020. 'I have also dealt with loud noises like this and other very very loud banging noises above my roof and outside my door almost every day at odd hours since 2020! I got tired of complaining to the building management and gave up a few years ago,' she wrote in another post. The continuous stress, she revealed, has affected her physical and mental health. She says she now suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome. 'Today I was so unwell… Yesterday I posted and today this! Ab samajh jao sab log ki what I've been dealing with,' she said. Tanushree also pointed to what she called 'planted maids' and said she's been left doing all her housework by herself. 'I cannot even hire maids because they planted maids in my house… I had such bad experiences with maids, coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things. I have to do all my work. People come outside my door and…' she said, before stopping short of naming anyone directly. In another moment, she said plainly, 'Meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai. Main kuch kaam nahi kar paa rahi hoon. Mera pura ghar messy ho chuka hai. I am being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me.'Dutta confirmed that she called the police out of desperation and was advised to visit the police station to lodge a formal complaint. She has indicated she will likely go in person soon to file an video has led to a strong response from her followers online. Some posted messages of support like 'Everything will be alright! Believe in yourself' and 'Don't worry, everything will be ok.'Tanushree Dutta made national headlines in 2018 when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the set of the 2009 film Horn Ok Pleassss. She said she had lodged a complaint with the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) as early as 2008, but it led also accused director Vivek Agnihotri of asking her to "remove clothes and dance" alongside Irrfan Khan while filming Chocolate. Both Patekar and Agnihotri denied the claims. Nana Patekar was later given a clean chit in the matter, according to that, the case became one of the first major incidents to kick off India's #MeToo movement. Tanushree's decision to speak out back then was seen as pivotal. Tanushree has said she will share more information soon, including the details of her upcoming police complaint. For now, she remains at home, coping as best she can. She mentioned that listening to Hindu mantras on headphones helps her manage the anxiety. The situation remains fluid. But her posts have once again stirred public debate about how women who speak up are treated, and what happens when the spotlight fades but the fear stays.

Ashi Singh on staying relevant: Visibility matters, but not at the cost of quality

Television actress Ashi Singh, who made her debut with Secret Diaries: The Hidden Chapters in 2015, believes staying visible is important in the entertainment industry—especially at her current career stage. However, she is equally cautious about choosing quality over quantity when it comes to her work. Speaking about the importance of being consistently seen in today's fast-paced world, Ashi shared, 'At this stage, I do feel I need to be visible. But I don't want to take up projects just for the sake of staying in the limelight. That's where social media helps me stay connected with my audience.' The actress, known for her roles in Gumrah, Crime Patrol, and Savdhaan India, says she becomes more active on Instagram when she's not working on a project. 'I make sure to engage with fans and be present online. It helps bridge the gap between projects. If I can't be on screen at the moment, maybe I will take up something worthwhile in a few months that will bring me back into the spotlight. I don't stress too much about it,' she added. Ashi is currently seen in Sony SAB's romantic-comedy Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil, where she stars opposite Shabir Ahluwalia. The series follows Kairi, a resilient young woman raising her siblings, who frequently clashes with Yug Sinha, a cynical lawyer with a troubled past. Their initial rivalry eventually evolves into an emotional tale of love, healing, and family. Her journey has been diverse—from playing Naina Agarwal in Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai (2017–2019), to portraying Yasmine in Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga, and Meet Hooda in Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet. She also ventured into OTT with First Copy, where she starred as Afreen opposite comedian Munawar Faruqui. With a growing list of roles and a strong social media presence, Ashi Singh continues to strike a balance between relevance and meaningful storytelling.
