Gujarat CM Patel announces Gujarat Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy
Aimed at transforming Gujarat into a global hub for electronics manufacturing, this new policy brings a significant advantage: projects approved and supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, will be eligible for 100 per cent central assistance when established in Gujarat. Hence, MeitY-approved projects set up in the state will receive dual incentive benefits, one from the Central Government and another from the State Government according to a press release.
Thoroughly aligned with the Central Government's Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), Gujarat's GECMS-2025 ensures a 100 per cent top-up on central support and guarantees timely disbursement of assistance. Also, once a project receives approval under the ECMS from MeitY, it will automatically become eligible for the same grant-in-aid in Gujarat. The State Government will disburse its incentive within 30 days of the Central Government releasing its assistance.
Gujarat has established itself as a leading manufacturing and automobile hub in India's industrial landscape. With four semiconductor plants now operational in the state, the newly announced policy will further strengthen the upstream industries. This development will reduce import dependency and improve technological resilience. The policy aims to attract over Rs 35,000 crore in new investments and create substantial high-skilled employment opportunities within the state's electronics component manufacturing sector.
Unveiled by the Chief Minister, the policy will boost investment in key segments such as multi-layer and HDI printed circuit boards, lithium-ion cells, SMD passive components, display and camera modules, electronic parts, and the additional required machinery essential for their production. A core focus of the policy is to bridge the talent gap, promote innovation and offer support for Research and development initiatives. Recognised institutions based in Gujarat will be eligible for assistance of up to Rs 12.5 crore from the state government to establish Centres of Excellence, Finishing Schools, or Applied Research Laboratories. Additionally, under the GECMS, turnover-linked incentives will be provided for six years. (ANI)

Indians first arrived in Trinidad and Tobago 180 years ago. This visit will provide an opportunity to rejuvenate the special bonds of ancestry and kinship that unite us," the statement said. From Port of Spain, he will travel to Buenos Aires, marking the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years. "Argentina is a key economic partner in Latin America and a close collaborator in the G20. I look forward to my discussions with President Javier Milei, whom I also had the pleasure of meeting last year. We will focus on advancing our mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the areas of agriculture, critical minerals, energy, trade, tourism, technology, and investment," the statement said. PM Modi will attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7. "As a founding member, India is committed to BRICS as a vital platform for cooperation among emerging economies. Together, we strive for a more peaceful, equitable, just, democratic and balanced multipolar world order. On the sidelines of the Summit, I will also meet several world leaders. I will travel to Brasilia for a bilateral State Visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly six decades. This visit will provide an opportunity to strengthen our close partnership with Brazil and work with my friend, President H.E. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, on advancing the priorities of the Global South," the statement added. His final destination will be Namibia, a trusted partner with whom India shares a common history of struggle against colonialism.

Rs 103 crore grant for renovation and development of Kempe Gowda fort in Magadi: DCM Shivakumar
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today informed that the Cabinet has approved a Rs 237 crore project to supply treated water from Bengaluru to 164 tanks in Shidlaghatta and Chinthamani taluks. 'Treated water will be supplied to 45 tanks in Shidlaghatta taluk and 119 tanks in Chinthamani taluk from the second phase of Hebbal-Nagavara valley. A Rs 36 crore project to build a new tank in Chinthamani taluk has also been approved,' he said while addressing a press conference after the Cabinet meeting. 'The Cabinet has also approved a project to renovate and develop the fort built by Kempegowda in Magadi taluk at a cost of Rs 103 crore. Administrative approval has been given by the Irrigation department to build a reservoir at Mallamma valley. The Cabinet also resolved to seek a no objection certificate from the Union Home Ministry to rename Bagepalli as Bagya Nagara,' he said. 'A Cabinet Sub-committee has been formed under the leadership of Law minister to study the report on mining irregularities carried out by the Lokayukta SIT. There were many lacunae in the previous Sub-committee report and hence a new Sub-committee has been formed to work out ways and means to conserve state's mineral wealth,' he added. 'Rs 50 crore has been granted to develop a hotel and other facilities in Nandi Hills. Bailahongala town municipality in Belagavi district and Harapanahalli town municipality in Vijayanagara district has been upgraded to city corporations. Hanumasagara village panchayat in Koppala district has been upgraded,' he informed. 'A grant of Rs 306 has been given to Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society to build 14 residential schools. Morarji Desai school has been approved for Chintamani taluk in Chikkaballapur district. A hi-tech flower market with a cost of Rs 141 crore has been approved for Chikkaballapura. The Cabinet also decided to upgrade primary health centres in Kaiwara and Nandi villages. Bagepalli public hospital has been approved for an upgrade,' he said. 'A grant of Rs 40 crore and Rs 20 crore has been given to upgrade basic amenities at Government Boys college and Government Girls college respectively in Kolar. A grant of Rs 123 crore has been released to develop second phase of the Bengaluru North campus in Amaravathi village in Shidlaghatta taluk. Rs 21 crore has been approved for purchase of MRI equipment for Nandi medical college in Chikkaballapura and KIMS Hubballi,' he added.

'Not same as Swastika': Virgina enacts law to criminalize display of Nazi symbols; to prioritize ‘Hakenkreuz' instead
ANI file photo The state of Virginia in the US has enacted a new law criminalizing the display of Nazi symbols, marking a win for accuracy and religious freedom and equitable treatment for 'Dharmic communities' as per the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA). Virginia has officially enacted the House Bill 2783 which distinguished between 'Hakenkreuz' the German word for 'Hooked Cross' and the sacred symbol of Swastika revered by many religions. 'The nuance in this law was the result of a united grassroots campaign from community leaders and Viriginia residents, alarmed at the terms of the original bill which had threatened prison terms for displaying a symbol that is almost ubiquitous in our temples and houses. This is the power of advocacy,' said ConHNA through a post on X. 'We are pleased to see how Virginia is tackling growing hate while being sensitive to minority groups that revere the Swastika', said the president of CoHNA. 'Now the need of the hour is for the media, law enforcement, and educational institutions in Virginia to update their language to reflect this critical nuance and ensure fair treatment for all,' he added. Initially, the bill had incorrectly equated the Nazi symbol to the Swastika, as per CoHNA. Despite concerns, the bill passed unanimously in the Virginia House of Delegates with a 97-0 vote. The billll also explicitly defines 'Nazi Swastika' is not the 'same as symbol of peace and prosperity used by Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, or Native American religions.' 'By explicitly delineating the legal status of the Swastika, the statute not only condemns and prohibits its misuse as a symbol of hatred, but also affirms and honors its sacred meaning within Hinduism and other Dharmic traditions. In doing so, the Commonwealth of Virginia sets a precedent for a more informed, respectful, and inclusive civic discourse', said Srilekha Palle a member of the Board of Directors at the American Hindu Coalition.
