Willson Contreras, Nolan Arenado not in Cardinals' lineup against Pirates
Contreras sustained a left hand contusion during Tuesday night's 1-0 loss to the Pirates when hit by a pitch from Paul Skenes. Arenado will miss a second straight game with a jammed right middle finger.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Wednesday that he is hopeful Contreras and Arenado can play Friday when St. Louis opens a three-game series against the National League Central-leading Cubs in Chicago.
The Cardinals entered play Wednesday in third place in the division, four games behind the Cubs. St. Louis has an off day on Thursday.
Contreras, a three-time All-Star, is hitting .248 with 11 home runs in 82 games. An eight-time All-Star, Arenado has a .247 batting average and 10 homers in 80 games.

Wyke steps up recovery as Blues pre-season training continues
Charlie Wyke continues to step up his recovery from long-term injury as pre-season training continues at Carlisle United. The striker did some running and light ball work at this morning's session, which was open for the media to view. Advertisement Wyke, out since last October with a serious ankle injury, was joined by physio Sophie Birnie as he ran around the training pitch whilst his team-mates took part in the main training session. The experienced frontman will be targeting a return to full fitness soon in order to play a big part in Carlisle's National League campaign. The Brunton Park training pitch this morning saw the majority of Mark Hughes' squad put through their paces, with new first-team coach Frankie McAvoy leading the session. Summer signings Regan Linney, Junior Luamba and Sam Murray were all involved, but fellow new boys David Ajiboye and Morgan Feeney were not on the training pitch. In the cases of Williams, Jones and Davies they are making their own comebacks after the injuries they suffered in 2024/25's closing weeks. Advertisement Goalkeepers Gabe Breeze, Harry Lewis and Thomas Randall were also in training, with Hughes joined by new coach McAvoy and the returning Gavin Skelton. Son of former Tennessee baseball head coach selected to All-Star Game
Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh is leading Major League Baseball in home runs during the 2025 season, following Thursday's games. He was named a starter for the 2025 All-Star Game, taking place July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Raleigh will make his first All-Star Game appearance. He has 33 home runs and 71 RBIs for the Mariners and will participate in the 2025 Home Run Derby on July 14. New York's Aaron Judge is in second place for home runs (31), two behind Raleigh. He played at Florida State and was an All-America standout. Raleigh was selected in the third round of the 2018 MLB draft (No. 90 overall) by the Mariners and debuted on July 11, 2021. He earned Gold Glove Award and Platinum Glove Award honors in 2024. Raleigh is the son of former Tennessee head coach Todd Raleigh. Todd Raleigh, who will pitch to Cal Raleigh in the Home Run Derby, coached the Vols from 2008-11. At Tennessee, he compiled a 108-113 (42-78 SEC) record in four seasons. Todd Raleigh went to Tennessee after serving as head coach at Western Carolina from 2000-07. He compiled a 257–209 (132–101 SoCon) record with the Catamounts.

Wisconsin's highest-rated players in EA Sports College Football 26
Wisconsin's top-rated players in EA Sports College Football 26 shouldn't come as much of a surprise. They are: senior cornerback Ricardo Hallman (90 overall) and senior right tackle Riley Mahlman (89 overall). The veterans are two of the program's longest-tenured returning starters entering the 2025 season. Each joined the Badgers with the class of 2021, Mahlman as a four-star recruit and Hallman as one of the class' more underrated prospects. They then each took similar paths to playing time. Hallman started eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2022, totaling nine tackles, one for loss, one interception and three pass deflections. Mahlman also entered that season as a starter, though only played in seven games after suffering an injury during the season-opener. The two have been some of the Big Ten's best at their respective positions since that shared breakthrough season. Hallman was a Third Team All-American in 2023 after a 34-tackle, seven-interception campaign. Mahlman did not share the same accolade, though he has been among ProFootballFocus' highest-graded Big Ten offensive linemen over the last two seasons, plus again projects as one of the conference's best entering 2025. The cornerback and offensive lineman will lead the Badgers' defense and offense, respectively, in 2025. Hallman is the team's clear top cornerback, and may need to shoulder a greater responsibility with top underclassman Xavier Lucas gone to Miami. Mahlman, on the other hand, will again slot in at right tackle to begin the season. He will anchor an offensive line that lost starting left tackle Kevin Heywood to a spring practice injury.
