Watching a 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S race a supercharged Suzuki Hayabusa and a supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2 is really something. We don't see too many matchups between motorcycles and cars these days. Maybe it's because a lot of people just assume crotch rockets or high-performance sports bikes will absolutely roast any street-legal car.After all, the motorcycles weigh next to nothing and have a ton of power, so that ever-important power-to-weight ratio tilts heavily in their favor. How could a car made to drive on the street even dream of keeping up?
But that's a myopic view of vehicle acceleration. After all, any hardcore drag racer can tell you there are a number of factors affecting how quickly a car can blast down the strip in a quarter mile run. While weight certainly is important, it's not all-important. But does that mean Porsche's engineering wizardry can work some magic with the 992 Turbo S?
To make things even more interesting, all three vehicles are modified. Starting with the 2016 Kawasaki Ninja H2, it has an inline four-cylinder supercharged 1000cc engine pushing 330-bhp. It's been professionally modified and tuned with a long list of go-fast parts added.
Then there's the 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa with a 1340cc supercharged inline-four engine pulsing a mighty 400-bhp. Also professionally modified and tuned, the bike is all about blinding acceleration and high speeds as well.
Finally, the 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S has been modified so the 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six produces 1,094-bhp. That's all thanks to a list of performance parts and tuning.
But perhaps one of the most important factors in the race is skimmed over in the video. While the two crotch rockets has 6-speed sequential transmissions, the Porsche of course uses an 8-speed PDK dual clutch. Plus, the car is putting power down at all four wheels, versus the bikes only sending it to the rear.

A Chinese EV prototype has redefined high-performance electric vehicles at one of the most difficult and dangerous tracks in the world. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype smashed its previous lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, clocking in at 6:22.091, beating its own record by over 24 seconds. This makes it the fastest prototype and EV and the third-fastest vehicle to complete a lap on the 12.9-mile track, often used as a benchmark for automotive engineering. It outran several supercars, like the Mercedes-AMG One and Porsche 911 GT2, which have price tags triple its estimated cost, all running on just battery power. "Mercedes spent billions and many years to develop the AMG One only to get humbled by a phone company," one Reddit commenter said. With the SU7, Xiaomi aims to address consumer skepticism regarding EV performance and accessibility. The production version of the car clocked in at 7:04.957 on the same track, beating the Porsche Taycan by three seconds, signaling record-setting performance without sacrificing usability or comfort. Development of the SU7 began just a few years ago, and already, Xiaomi, known for producing consumer electronics, is setting industry benchmarks. The prototype's 1,526-horsepower engine pushes it from zero to 60 in under two seconds, leveraging advanced software and battery technology to optimize power delivery and efficiency. Such a breakthrough pressures legacy carmakers to accelerate EV strategies and provide consumers with more options. EVs offer countless benefits, not just in lap times, but also for your wallet and the environment. Contrary to arguments against EVs due to harmful mining practices for minerals like lithium, the extraction of dirty energy needed for ICE vehicles is much worse for the environment. One MIT study found that cars with internal combustion engines create an average of 350 grams of carbon air pollution per mile driven over their lifetimes, while EVs that operate on an average U.S. power grid produce only 200 grams. Low-carbon energy reduces mineral requirements. Currently, the Xiaomi SU7 is only available in China, but global markets could see future models as soon as 2026. In the meantime, Xiaomi is releasing a Nürburgring Limited Edition SU7, priced around $114,000, with only 10 units released in 2025 and 100 total. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume warned the nearly 37,000-strong German workforce he will negotiate with its labor union in the coming months over further cost cuts. Already, it plans to eliminate more than a tenth of its staff by 2029 to position the brand for a world where it sells only 250,000 cars annually, rather than the 311,000 it achieved last year. A combination of plunging demand in China and effects from Trump's economic agenda are hitting the export-reliant luxury sports car maker hard. Once the envy of the entire German auto industry, Porsche is drifting deeper and deeper into its biggest crisis in decades. In a letter to employees, the manufacturer of the iconic 911 sports car informed its 36,700 domestic workforce it would enter negotiations with the IG Metall trade union over a second package of cost cuts designed to protect profit margins. The latest reductions are expected to come on top of the already 3,900 job cuts planned in Germany through 2029, designed to shrink the company's cost base to reflect a world where the brand sells only 250,000 cars annually instead of the 311,000 achieved last year. Chief executive Oliver Blume, who splits his time running both Porsche and its majority owner Volkswagen Group, warned staff that they would have to gird themselves for difficult times to come. 'Our business model that sustained us over many decades no longer is functioning today in its current form. Business conditions have deteriorated massively within a short period of time,' Blume warned his employees in comments obtained by Fortune. They were first reported on Friday by the German media. He cited a pair of related contributing factors, starting with China, where first-half vehicle sales plunged 28% to their lowest level in eleven years amid a brutal price war, particularly for EVs. The brand had once sold 95,700 cars there in 2021, an all-time record—at its current pace, it would be lucky to get half that result this year. This bled into another issue: a slowdown in the adoption rate of its EVs. Now it no longer expects an 80% share of its volumes to come from fully-electric cars by 2030 as realistic, preferring not to give a forecast any longer. This, however, heavily impacts Porsche and its supplier base, given the investments already made in new products like the electric Macan. 'On the one hand we need EVs to fulfil regional CO2 regulations,' Blume wrote, 'but on the other the profit margins are far below those of our combustion engine cars.' Trump a double disaster for Porsche — weak dollar, high tariffs He didn't stop there, though: without actually mentioning Trump by name, the Porsche CEO said the U.S. poses its third major problem. Demand there ironically has never been better, and yet it is suffering under the combined weight of the current administration's economic policies. These have sparked a sharp decline in the U.S. dollar versus the euro that, together with its punitive regime of tariffs, darkens the outlook for the export-reliant carmaker. 'Despite a delivery record in the first year, we are under enormous financial pressure,' he admitted, referring to the U.S. market. The result is a company whose operating margin is currently forecast by management to shrink to between 6.5% and 8.5% from 14.1% in 2024. Even during the dark days of the 2008-09 global financial crisis, Porsche's sports car business could still maintain an operating return on sales in the double digits. 'A further profit warning with Q2 results seems likely,' wrote UBS, estimating Porsche's operating margin could be guided down to 5%-7% given current guidance only includes the effects from U.S. tariffs for the months of April and May. Once the world's third most valuable carmaker after Tesla and Toyota, Porsche shares lost 29% so far this year. Anyone who poured money into Porsche's September 2022 public offering of stock—Europe's largest in over a decade—is currently sitting on losses short of 50%. At the same time that Porsche is facing its biggest crisis in decades, the company is also in the process of overhauling half its senior management team with four new C-suite executives in charge of finances, sales & marketing, personnel, and procurement. Like it or not, the social experiment that is the ultra-luxury super SUV has been successful for automakers, and now that the Bentayga is one of those success stories, Bentley is searching for more ways of satisfying its customers. They love their Bentaygas, but in dense European city centers, the SUV is just too long to legally park on the street. To satisfy those Madrid, London, and Rome-based customers and attract a few more, the as-yet-unnamed "urban SUV" will measure less than 16.4 feet (5 meters) in length. And according to the Autoblog spies who snapped these images, we're looking at the forthcoming newbie, albeit obviously in a Porsche frock. In February of this year, the patent and trademark sleuths at CarMoses discovered two new Bentley filings that could be earmarked for the incoming SUV: Mayon and Barnato. The former likely references the active Mayon Volcano in the Philippines, since the Bentayga was named after Roque Bentayga, a rock formation on the Canary Islands within the volcanic caldera of Tejeda. The latter has been trademarked by Crewe before and references Woolf Barnato, a Le Mans-winning Bentley Boy and chairman who helped keep the company alive in the mid-1920s. When Bentley first announced this new electric SUV, it said that it would arrive in 2026, saying that it expected the market's appetite for EVs to grow to a sustainable level by then. It has since delayed that introductory date by a single year, but it ought to be worth the wait, with Bentley promising the EV will be "much more agile" than a Bentayga. Crewe did not confirm what would underpin the new SUV, but at the time of the announcement, the PPE architecture beneath the Audi Q6 e-tron and the Porsche Macan Electric seemed the most sensible. Now that our spies tell us the Porsche mule in these images is a Bentley, those suspicions are all but confirmed. Bentley says that some elements of its extraordinary EXP 15 concept will inform the styling, though exactly how can't be gleaned from the proportions of this prototype. Expect around 350-400 miles of range, fast-charging, and something new. Bentley's head of R&D, Dr. Matthias Rabe, spoke during the EV's announcement, saying that the sound would not be purely synthetic, nor a copy of what other automakers have been doing.
