Girl weeps for Blackstone exec mom Wesley LePatner murdered by NYC shooter before she and brother comfort widower father
The 43-year-old senior managing director at investment giant Blackstone was gunned down by Shane Tamura, 27, at 345 Park Avenue Monday evening.
On Wednesday, LePatner's husband Evan and her two children, Emerson and Jonathan, gathered in the city's Central Synagogue alongside former colleagues and family to remember her.
As one of her friends spoke at length about LePatner and her life, the two children immediately rested their heads on their father's shoulders to comfort him in a sweet touching moment.
The family could be seen sitting in the front row of the synagogue in front of LePatner's coffin as several speakers spoke about her.
One coworker, who spoke at length about their time at the company, said: 'Wesley I miss you so much, rest in power sister.'
Another added: 'A part of Wesley is now inside everyone she touched, as a source of inspiration to live life like Wesley, elevating the people around us.
'I can only begin to imagine how many times I will ask myself, "what would Wesley do?", may we all carry forward in her spirit.'
Three others - NYPD officer Didarul Islam, security guard Aland Etienne and Rudin firm employee Julia Hyman - were also killed when Tamura opened fire in the lobby.
Tamura also shot dead a second unnamed security guard who tried to take cover behind a security desk.
LePatner, a trustee at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was a rising star in her industry.
She oversaw businesses with more than $140 billion in assets for Blackstone, where she had worked since 2014.
She grew up in New York City with prominent attorney parents and previously worked at Goldman Sachs, after graduating from Yale University.
LePatner was killed in the lobby as she tried to hide behind a pillar, according to the Wall Street Journal which reported that other Blackstone employees are in the hospital receiving treatment.
'Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed,' the company said in a statement.
'She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond.
'She embodied the best of Blackstone. Our prayers are with her husband, children and family.
'We are also saddened by the loss of the other innocent victims as well, including brave security personnel and N.Y.P.D.'
Tamura, who'd driven to New York City from Las Vegas with a rifle, killed himself shortly after shooting Hyman.
The former high school football star had claimed playing the game had given him a brain condition called CTE and had planned an unhinged revenge attack on the NFL.
Tamura was found with a letter on his body indicating he had grievances with the NFL and its handling of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), degenerative brain disease linked to several retired football players.

The outlet claims that he has requested a 'man-to-man conversation' with Hogan but his efforts have been rebuffed by the wrestling icon. The report quotes a source close to Oleksy and Brooke who claimed that the couple's 'hurt is very, very heavy'. Oleksy offered a public defense of his wife at the time, saying he wouldn't 'stand by and allow anyone to continue to hurt' Brooke. On that call, Brooke expressed love and concern for her father - telling him that he shouldn't be working so hard due to his declining health. Despite her pleas for him to enjoy more of his life, those requests fell on deaf ears. The pair didn't speak again. Four killed in Montana bar shooting that is US's ninth mass murder of 2025
Four people were killed on Friday in a shooting at a Montana bar, prompting a lockdown in a neighborhood several miles away as authorities searched a wooded area for a suspect in the case. The shooting brought the number of mass murders so far this year in the US to nine, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-partisan resource which defines such cases as killings in which four or more victims are killed. All those mass murders were shootings, and four have occurred in a 30-day period beginning 2 July. It was the US's second mass murder since Monday, when a man attacked a New York City skyscraper housing the National Football League's headquarters and shot four people dead before dying by suicide. Friday's mass murder in Montana happened at about 10.30am at the Owl Bar in Anaconda, according to the state's division of criminal investigation. The agency, which is leading the investigation into the shooting, confirmed four people were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, who was identified as 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown, lived nextdoor to the bar, according to public records. Authorities said a tactical team cleared Brown's home and that he was last seen in the Stump Town area just west of Anaconda. More than a dozen officers from local and state police converged on that area, locking it down so no one was allowed in or out. A helicopter also hovered over a nearby mountainside as officers moved among the trees, Randy Clark – a retired police officer who lives there – told the Associated Press. Brown was believed to be armed, the Montana highway patrol said in a statement. As reports of the shooting spread through town, business owners locked their doors and sheltered inside with customers. At Caterpillars to Butterflies Childcare, a nursery a few blocks from the shooting scene, owner Sage Huot said she had kept the children inside all day after someone called to let her know about the violence. 'We're constantly doing practice drills, fire drills and active shooter drills, so we locked down the facility, locked the doors, and we have a quiet spot where we play activities away from all of our windows and doors,' Huot said. Elon Musk staged secret $15M plot to desperately win back Trump after falling out
Elon Musk attempted a peace offering with Donald Trump after the ex-'First Buddy' split from the White House, giving $15million to Trump and Republican causes. The donations were made after the former DOGE chairman's ugly feud with Trump upon his departure, but before Musk announced plans to launch the independent 'America Party.' Musk gave $5million to three different super PACs supporting both the president and his party. According to Federal Election Commission filings, he gave to MAGA Inc., the Senate Leadership Fund and the Congressional Leadership Fund on June 27. Just eight day later, Musk launched the 'America Party,' which he said was formed 'to give you back your freedom.' Musk has donated $45 million in 2025 to his own America PAC which was largely spent on an unsuccessful Wisconsin Supreme Court election. The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House for comment. Musk announced the foundation of the America Party on his X social media platform just after Independence Day. It came after Musk created an online poll on July 4 asking his followers whether to establish the new party. The results came back 65.4 percent in favor, leading Musk to make the announcement. 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!' Musk wrote. 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. 'Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.' Musk had been elevated to a prestigious role within the White House acting as a special advisor to the president and overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency. But in recent months a rift has emerged and the two former friends have been embroiled in embarrassing public spats played out over social media. Many had predicted that Trump and Musk's rosy bromance wouldn't last long and some pointed to betting markets on when they would turn on each other. Betters heavily favored a fallout before July 1, 2025, less than six months after Musk joined Trump's administration as a special advisor. In just a matter of months Musk went from spending $288 million for Trump's election campaign, to slinging insults about him online, including suggesting Trump was in The Epstein files. The bust up occurred after Musk stepped down from DOGE over Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' which ends tax breaks for electric vehicles, which are Tesla CEO Musk's passion project. Musk also argued that the bill undercut DOGE's cost-cutting efforts by increasing the deficit. The rift deepened after the president rescinded his nomination offer to Musk-ally Jared Isaacman for NASA administrator over donations he made to the Democrats. Since then Trump and Musk have engaged in public mudslinging against each other. Musk accused the president of ingratitude and claimed he would have lost the election without him, while Trump branded him 'crazy '. Since their public break-up, Musk has threatened to start a new, third political party and buttress the reelection campaign of Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, one of the no votes on Trump's big bill. Trump recently outed himself as the person who leaked details about Musk's alleged drug use, according to author Michael Wolff, who penned the eye-popping book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. The New York Times reported that during the 2024 presidential campaign, the billionaire used so much ketamine he was having bladder problems and also used Ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms and what appeared to be Adderall.
