Netflix orders Season 2 of 'Ransom Canyon'

June 26 (UPI) -- Netflix announced it has ordered Season 2 of its contemporary western, Ransom Canyon.
"Ransom Canyon Season 2? Yee-haw!" Duhamel wrote on Instagram Wednesday.
"I couldn't be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon!" show-runner April Blair said in a press release.
"Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can't wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride."
The show is filmed in New Mexico and stars Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Andrew Liner, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, and Marianly Tejada.

In New York, this Chinese restaurant is an icon. In Miami, it's closing after a year
Another upscale restaurant is closing in Miami, this time after only a year. RedFarm, the Chinese restaurant from New York famous for its dim sum and Peking duck, announced that it will be shutting down after service this Sunday. It opened in the former site of Mr. Moe's in Coconut Grove at 3131 Commodore Plaza in February of 2024. The New York and Austin, Texas, RedFarm locations will remain open. Created by restaurateur Ed Schoenfeld with partners Jeffrey Chodorow, his son Zach Chodorow and Alex Pirez, the restaurant announced its plans on Instagram in a tersely worded statement with none of the usual effusive thanks or flourishes. 'Thank you to all of our guests who joined us in Miami,' the post read. 'We wanted to let you know that we will be closing our Coconut Grove location at the end of service this Sunday, June 29.' The post went on to say that the Chodorows plan to reopen RedFarm in South Florida in the future and that signature dishes, such as Ed's pastrami egg rolls and the colorful Pac Man shrimp dumplings will return. At the moment, no new site has been announced. The first RedFarm opened in New York's West Village in 2011. Miami native Jeffrey Chodorow, best known here for opening the famous China Grill in Miami Beach in the mid 1990s, said in 2024 that opening in South Florida had always been in the back of his mind. 'As a Miami native and resident, I always knew we would bring RedFarm here,' he said. 'Not only because I'm always craving RedFarm's dishes, but many of our New York customers spend a lot of time here, or have moved here, and our Miami friends kept asking me when we were going to open here.' The closing comes at a time of mild upheaval in the Coconut Grove culinary scene. At the end of May, the Michelin-recommended Portuguese restaurant Sereia closed after a only year. The Italian restaurant Like Mike, which opened in 2022 and was located at 3433 Main Highway, quietly closed as well and is being taken over by the Italian seafood spot Sapore de Mare, its Grove neighbor. Also gone is Chef Michael Schwartz's Harry's Pizzeria at 2996 McFarlane Road. The brand also quietly closed its South Beach location.

‘The Waterfront' Dethroned In Netflix's Top 10 List By A New Show
The Waterfront Well, it's that time. The Waterfront had its run on top of Netflix's top 10 list, but now it's been capsized by a show that it was never going to be able to escape. That, of course, is the return of Squid Game for its third and allegedly final season. Squid Game season 1 remains the most-watched season of any show in Netflix history. Squid Game season 2 is inside the top 5. I expect season 3 will probably top 2, and now it's arrived with a six-episode finale run. There was a zero percent chance it wouldn't arrive at #1, and here we are. The Waterfront has had a solid run since its debut, starting at #1 and continuing until this dethroning that was always going to happen. If Squid Game did not show up, I imagine it would have remained in that spot for some time. It's a great start for the series that is angling for a second season, and as I've said before, I absolutely believe that will happen as Netflix looks to fill the water-based crime series hole left by Bloodline and Ozark, both of which ran for multiple seasons. It's only a matter of time until we hear the same for The Waterfront. Squid Game Squid Game? It's shown up with slightly better critic scores than season 2 but worse audience scores, dropping from a 61% to a lower 53%. I'm only halfway through, but I'm not sure why. Episode 2 was easily one of the best entries in the entire series. Again, this is the final season, but its creator has a clear idea for a spin-off that takes place between seasons 1 and 2 and has not ruled out a potential sequel either, he says. The rest of the list has Ginny and Georgia performing extremely well, given how long ago it aired. It was already renewed for a fourth season ages ago, so there is no waiting around for that news. America's Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders series seems to be one of Netflix's more popular reality series these days, and I can't imagine why. Expect it to return. Two licensed shows are doing well, Animal Kingdom and Blindspot, which arrive with six seasons and five seasons, respectively, for viewers to chew through. The question now is how long will Squid Game season 3 stay on top. If it's any less than two weeks, I'd be a bit surprised, as Netflix has cleared its release slate for a while for this reason. But this is the least amount of episodes a season has had, so that means viewers will finish more quickly. We will keep an eye on it. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.
