To make things more interesting, Breguet has also incorporated its mysterious complication. Often employed for the hands, it consists of attaching the rotating organ to the rest of the movement without a visible link. Combined with the flying tourbillon, it creates a captivating floating effect, offering an unobstructed view of the mechanism in motion.

Limited to 50 pieces, the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 features an aventurine dial, the deep blue a soothing counterpoint to the mechanical complexity of the tourbillon. The 38mm case is in Breguet gold, a special in-house alloy composed of 75 per cent gold, and enriched with silver, copper and palladium. The caseback is also a sight to behold, thanks to Quai de l'Horloge guilloché in circular and linear patterns.

Urban Jürgensen officially relaunches under the stewardship of Kari Voutilainen

The revival gains further momentum with the release of three new Urban Jürgensen timepieces—its first new collection in over a decade Let's shift focus from Switzerland to Denmark and discover one of the most storied Danish watch brands: Urban Jürgensen. Founded in Copenhagen in 1773, the brand was notable for its marine chronometers for the Danish Navy. In later years, its exceptional craftsmanship and Scandinavian design sensibility caught the eye of the Danish royal court, earning it the distinction of official watchmaker. It all but disappeared in the early 20th century, until it was revived in the 1980s by Swiss watchmaker Peter Baumberger, who partnered with English watchmaker Derek Pratt to continue Urban Jürgensen's legacy in producing high-quality, handcrafted timepieces that honoured traditional watchmaking techniques. Why the Breguet Classique Souscription 2025 is the perfect tribute to 250 years of legacy

To commemorate its 250th anniversary, Breguet has chosen to revisit not its greatest horological invention—the tourbillon —but instead a minimalist pocket watch created for mass appeal. Originally registered in 1796, the Souscription watch, with its 'simple architecture', was borne out of Abraham Louis Breguet's desire to expand his client base, believing that haute horlogerie should be accessible to more than a small group of elites. He had to rethink his marketing strategy. For one, it was the first watch to appear in an advertising pamphlet, a revolutionary move back then. For another, orders could be confirmed by paying a deposit that was a quarter of the price. Around 700 pieces were produced for more than 30 years. Breguet has recreated this elegant classic as a wristwatch, the Classique Souscription 2025 for its important milestone, preserving most of the elements Abraham himself envisioned and incorporated. Time-reading has been stripped down to its essence, via one Breguet hand that has been flame-blued and curved entirely by hand. The hand glides along the Breguet Arabic numerals and railroad minute track, both crafted in black petit feu enamel. There is a secret signature between the centre of the dial and 6 o'clock, created using the method Abraham used—with a diamond-point pantograph. The 'chevé' sapphire crystal, which is relatively flat and gently curved towards the edges, protects this exquisite dial.
