Avatar Fire and Ash trailer out: Jake Sully faces adversity as new enemies rise in James Cameron's magnum opus
The trailer opens with a breathtaking shot of a Na'vi soaring through the sky on an Ikran, gliding between Pandora's iconic floating mountains. The scene then transitions to serene, immersive underwater visuals that echo the spiritual journeys seen in the earlier films.
Viewers are introduced to the Wind Traders, an airborne Na'vi clan that relies heavily on flight for travel and survival. Tension begins to build as it becomes clear that Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) is somehow separated from his family.
Determined, he ventures alone across Pandora's volatile volcanic landscapes in a desperate effort to reach them.
The trailer also offers a first look at the Ash People—a fierce Na'vi faction led by the formidable Varang—who emerge as adversaries to Jake, Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana), and their children.
Hints of an impending civil conflict within the Na'vi surface, with Varang positioned in stark opposition to Jake and his family, setting the stage for a deeply personal and tribal struggle.

"I'm healthy, I'm good to go...": James Cameron nods at working on 4th and 5th parts of 'Avatar'
James Cameron has been the pioneer of the 2009 classic 'Avatar' and contributed to creating the fan-favourite saga. While the latest instalment, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' confirmed its title, and is set to release later this year, the director claimed that he is 'good to go' to direct the next films as well. James Cameron would be directing the next two parts of 'Avatar' In an interview with Empire, the 71-year-old said, 'I mean, there's no reason not to. I'm healthy, I'm good to go,' when asked about directing the 4th and 5th parts of the saga. Given the intensity and focus to direct such a grand film, Cameron is uncertain if he could put the energy for the next six to seven years. 'I'm not going to rule it out,' he reassures, before adding, 'I mean, I've got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that.' James Cameron is likely to hand the baton to... However, if James Cameron decided to hand out his dear project to someone else, it would be the first time that someone else would sit in the director's chair for an 'Avatar' film. 'I had a great working relationship – and I'm using this as an example, not as an answer – with Robert Rodriguez on 'Alita,'' he said in the interview, adding that Rodriguez honoured what Cameron wrote and they collaboratively worked. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Before Dying, My Husband Said, I'm Sorry. The two films that he definitely would not be directing are the 6th and 7th parts of Avatar, and he said that he will be handing the baton at that point, in an interview with People.

Avatar Fire And Ash: Sam Worthington Hints At Rough Patch In Jake-Neytiri's Bond
James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer reveals new characters and drama. Sam Worthington hints at Jake and Neytiri's split after losing their child. The first trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash is out, and James Cameron is introducing new characters and fresh drama in his third movie set in the world of Pandora. Recently, actor Sam Worthington gave a hint about the story, saying that there is a split in the relationship between his character Jake Sully and Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldana. This change happens after they lose their only child, Neteyam. According to Sam, Jake and Neytiri are hurt by this loss and find it hard to heal together. As a result, they split, to handle their pain in different ways, as 'Jake heads back to battle and Neytiri kind of closes down." Speaking with Empire Magazine, Worthington teased, 'Because of Neteyam's death, there is now a division in that relationship. That's a great design by Jim, how do you split apart the perfect love story? Jake and Neytiri share this painful wound, but they can't seem to heal each other. So they kind of split, not because they want to, but because they're just trying to survive within themselves. Jake heads back to battle and Neytiri kind of closes down." 'The peacemaker that Jake was in 2 has changed, because he's grieving. He doesn't know how to go forward, and so he goes back to the world that he knows, which is soldiering. To attack, to go to war, that's a comforting place for Jake," Sam Worthington added. Director James Cameron explained that all the main characters in Avatar: Fire and Ash are dealing with trauma. Jake is trying to cope with losing his son, while Lo'ak is struggling with sadness and guilt after his brother's death. The filmmaker believes that if the feelings and relationships in the story feel real, then even the most unusual things, like flying creatures, can still feel believable to the audience. Avatar: Fire and Ash also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass and Kate Winslet. The film is set to hit theatres on December 19. First Published: July 31, 2025, 16:50 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. James Cameron, 70, Wants To Direct Avatar 4 And 5 Himself: ‘I'm Good To Go'
The Titanic director pointed out that he has passed on his planned movies to other filmmakers in the past, but he feels healthy enough to take on Avatar 4 and 5. James Cameron is 'good to go" when it comes to directing Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. The 70-year-old filmmaker has helmed the third movie in the epic sci-fi franchise Avatar: Fire and Ash – which will be released in December – and plans to be behind the camera for the next two pictures, which are scheduled to hit cinemas in 2029 and 2031, respectively. Speaking to Empire magazine, James said: 'I mean, there's no reason not to. I'm healthy, I'm good to go. I'm not going to rule it out. I mean, I've got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that… (but) if I can, I'll just do it." The Titanic director pointed out that he has passed on his planned movies to other filmmakers in the past – as he gave the 2019 flick Alita: Battle Angel to Robert Rodriguez but remained closely involved with the picture's production. Cameron said of Rodriguez: 'He honoured what I had written. We worked very collaboratively." The acclaimed filmmaker previously revealed that he does not plan to helm the sixth and seventh Avatar films, even though he does have stories in mind for them. He told People magazine: 'We're fully written through movie five, and I've got ideas for six and seven, although I'll probably be handing the baton on at that point. Mortality catches up. But I mean, we're enjoying what we're doing. We're loving it. We get to work with great people." James revealed earlier this year that he feels 'pretty good" about Avatar: Fire and Ash after being thrilled by the feedback when he screened the movie for 'a few selected people". The Terminator director told Stuff: 'I've shown it to a few selected people and the feedback has been … it's definitely the most emotional and maybe the best of the three so far. We'll find out, you know, but I feel pretty good about it." The new movie features a cast that includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, and Cameron was very impressed with the efforts of the stars. He said: 'The work is exceptional from the actors. It's pretty heart-wrenching in a good way." The original Avatar film became the highest-grossing movie of all time when it was released back in 2009, and Cameron admitted that he was hesitant to make sequels as he didn't want to spoil what he had achieved. The director said: 'I had to think long and hard whether I even wanted to make another Avatar film, because it was kind of ours to lose. When you've done something that's been that transcendent in terms of success, do you really want to go try and do that again? There's a lot of pressure on it. I thought about it for a good two years before we finally made a deal." Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
