Tanushree Dutta posts distress video alleging years of harassment, says 'My health is ruined… my house is a mess'

Economic Times23-07-2025
Tanushree Dutta has once again brought attention to her personal struggle, this time through a deeply emotional video on Instagram where she broke down in tears and accused unknown persons of harassing her in her own home.'Guys I am being harassed in my own home. Mujhe mere he ghar mein pareshaan kiya ja raha hai,' she said, visibly distressed. 'I just called the cops and they have asked me to visit a police station and lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow and do that, I am not keeping well. Mujhe itna pareshaan kiya gaya hai pichle 4-5 saalo me ki meri tabyet kharab ho gayi hai. I am not able to do anything, my house is a mess.'
She also wrote in the video caption, 'I'm sick and tired of this harassment!! It's been going on since 2018 #metoo. Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya... Please someone help me! Do something before it's too late.'
The harassment, according to Dutta, includes much more than just emotional distress. She spoke of frequent and unexplained loud noises outside her flat and above her ceiling, which she claims have been happening almost daily since 2020. 'I have also dealt with loud noises like this and other very very loud banging noises above my roof and outside my door almost every day at odd hours since 2020! I got tired of complaining to the building management and gave up a few years ago,' she wrote in another post.
The continuous stress, she revealed, has affected her physical and mental health. She says she now suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome. 'Today I was so unwell… Yesterday I posted and today this! Ab samajh jao sab log ki what I've been dealing with,' she said.
Tanushree also pointed to what she called 'planted maids' and said she's been left doing all her housework by herself. 'I cannot even hire maids because they planted maids in my house… I had such bad experiences with maids, coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things. I have to do all my work. People come outside my door and…' she said, before stopping short of naming anyone directly.
In another moment, she said plainly, 'Meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai. Main kuch kaam nahi kar paa rahi hoon. Mera pura ghar messy ho chuka hai. I am being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me.'Dutta confirmed that she called the police out of desperation and was advised to visit the police station to lodge a formal complaint. She has indicated she will likely go in person soon to file an FIR.The video has led to a strong response from her followers online. Some posted messages of support like 'Everything will be alright! Believe in yourself' and 'Don't worry, everything will be ok.'Tanushree Dutta made national headlines in 2018 when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the set of the 2009 film Horn Ok Pleassss. She said she had lodged a complaint with the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) as early as 2008, but it led nowhere. She also accused director Vivek Agnihotri of asking her to "remove clothes and dance" alongside Irrfan Khan while filming Chocolate. Both Patekar and Agnihotri denied the claims. Nana Patekar was later given a clean chit in the matter, according to reports.Despite that, the case became one of the first major incidents to kick off India's #MeToo movement. Tanushree's decision to speak out back then was seen as pivotal.
Tanushree has said she will share more information soon, including the details of her upcoming police complaint. For now, she remains at home, coping as best she can. She mentioned that listening to Hindu mantras on headphones helps her manage the anxiety. The situation remains fluid. But her posts have once again stirred public debate about how women who speak up are treated, and what happens when the spotlight fades but the fear stays.

Mumbai woman's morphed private photo sent to relative, friends over ₹2,000 loan

A 25-year-old woman was harassed and her morphed nude photo was sent to relative and friends for borrowing ₹2,000 from an app. The woman, a resident of the city's Jogeshwari West area, was blackmailed and harassed by a person claiming to work with the online loan app firm. FIR filed after Mumbai woman faces blackmail by Instagram cash loan app(Representative image/Pixabay) Police officials said that the victim came across an advertisement for a mobile application named Cash Loan on Instagram while she was seeking financial assistance, NDTV reported. In hopes of getting money easily, the woman downloaded the app on July 20 and submitted her personal details, including her Aadhaar card and bank account information, as part of the registration process. She applied for a ₹2,000 loan but received only ₹1,300, which was granted as a loan for a period of six days, the news outlet reported. But things soon took dramatic turn, even before the loan term expired, a person claiming to be an employee of the loan firm allegedly began to threaten her. According to the Mumbai woman's complaint cited by the news channel, the caller warned her that her obscene photographs would be leaked online if she didn't repay the loan immediately. Victim paid, yet explicit images sent to contacts In response to the threats, the woman transferred ₹1,000 twice via a payment application to a person identified as Sandesh Kumar. However, despite the payments, she received a distressing call from her aunt an hour later, reported NDTV. The aunt had received a morphed nude image of the woman on WhatsApp from an unknown number. The same photo was subsequently sent to two of the woman's friends from the same sender. Frightened and unsure of how to respond, the woman informed her father, who then approached local police for help. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case, and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities have not confirmed whether any arrests have been made at this stage.

Ex OnlyFans creator Jacob Berger accused of using pro-Palestine activism to harass Arab women: 'If you want to thank me, send nudes'

Jacob Berger, a Jewish-American actor, content creator, and self-proclaimed pro-Palestine activist from New York City, is facing mounting backlash after serious allegations surfaced online. Known for his viral sketch comedy videos and political advocacy, the former OnlyFans creator, 40, built a massive following of over a million Instagram users, many of whom supported his outspoken stance on Palestinian rights. However, recent accusations shared by Palestinian student and activist Nerdeen Kiswani have sparked outrage across social media, with many now calling him out for alleged exploitation, self-promotion, and sexual harassment. What Nerdeen Kiswani has accused Jacob Berger of On X, Nerdeen Kiswani shared a series of tweets that outlined multiple serious allegations against a man she initially did not name but described in a way that clearly pointed toward Berger. She later confirmed this through tweets and replies. Her first tweet read, 'There's a white Jewish man who's managed to wedge himself into pro-Palestine spaces, building a personal brand off of genocide. And every time I vaguely mention him, without even naming him, someone new messages me with another horrifying story.' In the following tweets, she alleged, 'This man was a failed OnlyFans creator before rebranding as a 'Palestine supporter.' Since then, he's taken sponsorship deals, asked for donations nonstop, and monetized every angle of his supposed activism.' 'He was in Egypt under the guise of helping relief efforts for Gaza. Instead, he bragged about getting a free apartment, not paying for anything, and living comfortably while volunteers around him were actually working.' 'He reportedly made videos with Palestinian children on a 'field trip,' asking people to donate for these 'orphans' without consent from their families. When they found out and asked him to take it down, he blocked them.' 'He sexually harasses and fetishises Arab women, according to multiple reports. Several women have described feeling unsafe around him, especially in activist spaces.' 'He joined a solidarity flotilla and then voluntarily signed self-deportation orders, abandoning others who went on hunger strike while still in captivity. When people asked him about it, he blocked them too.' She concluded the thread by writing, 'He centres himself in everything. Even when talking to Palestinians and on livestreams, it's 'me, me, me'—how he suffers, how he is censored, how he gave up fame, while literally grifting off of a genocide.' There's a white Jewish man who's managed to wedge himself into pro-Palestine spaces, building a personal brand off of genocide. And every time I vaguely mention him, without even naming him, someone new messages me with another horrifying story. Allegation: 'Send me nudes' in exchange for activism In a follow-up post, Kiswani shared a disturbing message from a follower detailing what Berger allegedly said during a TikTok Live, 'Hi Anas, I just wanted to add something to this. So Jacob was recently on TikTok Live, where he was on Handala, and he was talking about how a bunch of women are supposedly reaching out to him and thanking him for his activism. Then he said, 'If you really want to thank me, send me nudes.'' Kiswani also posted additional screenshots from followers recounting encounters with him, and wrote, 'Since posting this in just the past hour, 2 more people informed me of additional examples of him sexualising Arab women & fetishising the movement.' Jacob Berger sexually assaulted Barney.I believe her, Jacob needs to be removed from our spaces IMMEDIATELY, that man is a dangerous predator !!!!!Women deserve to be protected from him and he deserves to be deplatformed. Screenshots, fundraiser misuse, and Islamophobic behaviour In further tweets, Kiswani accused Berger of using Islam in a derogatory manner and exploiting Palestinian suffering for monetary gain. She shared screenshots of videos and interactions, then added: 'Like, is this supposed to be normal?? A white Jewish guy starts supporting Palestine and then bases half of his content around fetishising Arab women, and we're not supposed to call this out?' Like is this supposed to be normal?? a white Jewish guy starts supporting Palestine and then bases half of his content around fetishizing Arab women and we're not supposed to call this out?? She also accused him of misleading fundraising practices, 'He weaponises Islam against Muslims and speaks in a disgusting derogatory manner to people when he is questioned about sharing a fundraiser that used images/videos of a program for Palestinians in Egypt that they don't even give money to.' He weaponizes Islam against Muslim and speaks in disgusting derogatory manner to people when he was questioned about sharing a fundraiser that used images/videos of a program for Palestinian in Egypt that they don't even give money to. What Reddit users are saying Kiswani's tweets have been widely shared on Reddit, where users have expressed anger, disappointment, and concern about how Berger managed to gain influence in organising spaces. Many pointed to his performative tone and self-centred messaging. One Reddit user wrote, 'So sick of people using organising spaces for important causes like it's Tinder/for their foul sexual fantasies and further traumatising others. There are way too many people like this and it's discouraging.' Another said, 'I'm honestly surprised at how many folks are in here saying he seemed normal to them and they engaged with his content. There are Palestinian voices out here; they aren't hard to find—no need for Mr White Guy Look at Me.' One user shared their reaction to Berger's livestream, 'I got weird vibes from his TikTok Live stream… just seemed like he was striking a really weird tone for an activist sailing to Palestine.' Another commented, 'I've been following him for the last weeks and his vibes are off, too much self-promotional and performative. It's better to just unfollow him and not lose sight of the larger picture.' Who is Jacob Berger? Before stepping into the world of viral comedy and activism, Jacob Berger worked as a licensed mental health and substance abuse counsellor, holding an LMSW from Columbia University. He transitioned into acting in 2010 and later found social media success starting in 2017 through sketch comedy videos, often laced with political or cultural commentary. He eventually grew a following for his vocal pro-Palestine stance and travelled to regions like Egypt under the banner of humanitarian relief and solidarity.
