Tanushree Dutta posts distress video alleging years of harassment, says 'My health is ruined… my house is a mess'

Economic Times17 hours ago
Tanushree Dutta has once again brought attention to her personal struggle, this time through a deeply emotional video on Instagram where she broke down in tears and accused unknown persons of harassing her in her own home.'Guys I am being harassed in my own home. Mujhe mere he ghar mein pareshaan kiya ja raha hai,' she said, visibly distressed. 'I just called the cops and they have asked me to visit a police station and lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow and do that, I am not keeping well. Mujhe itna pareshaan kiya gaya hai pichle 4-5 saalo me ki meri tabyet kharab ho gayi hai. I am not able to do anything, my house is a mess.'
She also wrote in the video caption, 'I'm sick and tired of this harassment!! It's been going on since 2018 #metoo. Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya... Please someone help me! Do something before it's too late.'
The harassment, according to Dutta, includes much more than just emotional distress. She spoke of frequent and unexplained loud noises outside her flat and above her ceiling, which she claims have been happening almost daily since 2020. 'I have also dealt with loud noises like this and other very very loud banging noises above my roof and outside my door almost every day at odd hours since 2020! I got tired of complaining to the building management and gave up a few years ago,' she wrote in another post.
The continuous stress, she revealed, has affected her physical and mental health. She says she now suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome. 'Today I was so unwell… Yesterday I posted and today this! Ab samajh jao sab log ki what I've been dealing with,' she said.
Tanushree also pointed to what she called 'planted maids' and said she's been left doing all her housework by herself. 'I cannot even hire maids because they planted maids in my house… I had such bad experiences with maids, coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things. I have to do all my work. People come outside my door and…' she said, before stopping short of naming anyone directly.
In another moment, she said plainly, 'Meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai. Main kuch kaam nahi kar paa rahi hoon. Mera pura ghar messy ho chuka hai. I am being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me.'Dutta confirmed that she called the police out of desperation and was advised to visit the police station to lodge a formal complaint. She has indicated she will likely go in person soon to file an FIR.The video has led to a strong response from her followers online. Some posted messages of support like 'Everything will be alright! Believe in yourself' and 'Don't worry, everything will be ok.'Tanushree Dutta made national headlines in 2018 when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the set of the 2009 film Horn Ok Pleassss. She said she had lodged a complaint with the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) as early as 2008, but it led nowhere. She also accused director Vivek Agnihotri of asking her to "remove clothes and dance" alongside Irrfan Khan while filming Chocolate. Both Patekar and Agnihotri denied the claims. Nana Patekar was later given a clean chit in the matter, according to reports.Despite that, the case became one of the first major incidents to kick off India's #MeToo movement. Tanushree's decision to speak out back then was seen as pivotal.
Tanushree has said she will share more information soon, including the details of her upcoming police complaint. For now, she remains at home, coping as best she can. She mentioned that listening to Hindu mantras on headphones helps her manage the anxiety. The situation remains fluid. But her posts have once again stirred public debate about how women who speak up are treated, and what happens when the spotlight fades but the fear stays.
