The President highlighted the growing relevance of Panchakarma therapy in treating complex health conditions. "The new centre will enable more people to benefit from this ancient Ayurvedic process," she said.
Sharing her own journey, President Murmu said she travelled 300 km from her village to Bhubaneswar in 1970-71 to continue her education. "Back then, no girl from my village had studied outside. I got a place in a girls' hostel in Bhubaneswar.
Today, while much has changed, many girls still face hurdles in pursuing higher education due to lack of secure accommodation," she said.
Calling Mahayogi Gorakhnath University the first private institution contributing significantly to higher education in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas, the President praised its efforts in aligning with the National Education Policy 2020.
President Murmu noted that her predecessor, Ram Nath Kovind, had inaugurated the university four years ago, and since then it has shown impressive progress.
"This institution has become a prominent centre for higher and professional education in eastern UP," she said, crediting the development to the guidance and leadership of Chancellor and UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

"Unjust, unnecessary, and anti-poor": Mayawati slams UP govt's decision to merge primary schools
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 2 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati, on Wednesday, raised concerns over Uttar Pradesh government's recent decision to merge primary schools with fewer students with nearby institutions, saying that the decision appears to be 'Unjust, unnecessary, and anti-poor'. In a post on X, Mayawati said that the UP government's decision will affect children who receive accessible and affordable government education near their homes. 'The decision taken by the Basic Education Council, Government of Uttar Pradesh, to close numerous schools under the guise of merging/integrating primary schools is unjustice for the millions of poor children who receive accessible and affordable government education near their homes; rather, at first glance, it clearly appears to be unjust, unnecessary, and anti-poor,' the BSP Chief said. She further emphasised that if the BSP forms the next government in the state, then this decision will be cancelled, and the previous system will be restored. 'We appeal to the government to immediately withdraw this decision of merging/integration in the broader interest of poor students. If the government does not retract this decision, then our party wishes to assure all parents and guardians that, upon the formation of our party B.S.P.'s government, this decision will be cancelled, and the previous system will be restored in the state,' Mayawati said. 'However, it is hoped that the UP government, keeping in mind the broader interest of the education of the poor and the general public, will certainly consider revising this decision with empathy,' she added. The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) also held a protest on Tuesday against the UP government's decision to merge the primary schools. Earlier on Tuesday, Mayawati launched an attack against the Centre for revising the passenger fares in the Railways. She said that it appears to be a business-minded decision rather than one made for the public welfare. Addressing a press conference, Mayawati said, 'When Most of the people in the country are suffering from unemployment, inflation, fall in income, and poverty then Centre's decision to hike Railway prices is against public welfare and it feels like it is a business minded decision rather than Constitution's idea welfare.' Slamming the government, she added, 'In the name of nation first, like GST, now with Railways, the government is increasing the burden on the public. If the government rethinks the decision, it will be good.' (ANI)

BJP to get new UP chief? Who are the probables for the crucial party post?
There has been a growing buzz over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) electing a new chief for its Uttar Pradesh unit, which was headed by Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary whose tenure ended earlier this year. Children hold BJP flags during an election rally ahead of Lok Sabha Polls. (File photo/ANI) The speculation come after the BJP selected Ramchander Rao as the new Telangana unit president, even as the process to elect a new party chief has picked up pace in the saffron camp. The party has delayed the election for a new UP president for several months. The delay has been attributed to the Delhi Assembly Elections, as the central leadership was busy with the polls in the national capital, where the saffron camp got a massive victory after 27 years. What to expect from the election of a new UP BJP chief? The election of a new party chief in Uttar Pradesh is believed to be just a formality, as the only the candidate finalised by the party's high command will file nomination. The BJP is likely to select a new chief from the Schedule Caste (SC), in a bid to counter the Samajwadi Party's Pichda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak (PDA) formulation. Who are the frontrunners? Some of the frontrunners for the state doing the rounds are Vidya Sagar Sonkar and Ram Shankar Katheria, both from the SC category. Swatantra Dev Singh, Babu Ram Nishad and Dharampal Singh, belonging to the OBC category, are also among the frontrunners. If the party prefers an OBC leader for the top post, Swatantra Dev Singh is the frontrunner for the post, a senior BJP leader told Hindustan Times. Meanwhile, the central leadership has initiated the proceedings to complete the election process of state presidents of several states. National chief's selection after appointing UP president The process to select the new national president is also picking up pace in the BJP camp. According to the BJP's constitution, the party's national president could only be elected after completing the election process of 50 percent of its state units. The term of BJP's incumbent national president JP Nadda ended in January last year, but the national executive committee in January 2024 extended his term till June 2025 in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Party insiders have suggested that the new UP chief will be selected keeping in view the upcoming assembly polls in 2027. "The new state president is most likely to be from the SC category and the second option will be the OBC category," a senior BJP leader said. "The new state president will be elected keeping in view the 2027 assembly polls in the state," he added. The party is going all out to regain the lost ground after its below-par showing in the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh last year. The party's poor performance in the state was attributed to the shifting of OBC and Dalit votes to the Samajwadi Party's PDA formulation. The BJP has managed to keep its caste umbrella intact in the last four successive polls in Uttar Pradesh—2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha and 2017, 2022 assembly polls. The diverse representation includes non-Jatav Dalits, non-Yadav OBCs and upper castes. However, the SP's PDA formulation succeeded in giving a dent to the BJP's vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha poll, when it succeeded in bringing a large chunk of OBC and Dalits into its fold. The BJP's tally in Uttar Pradesh came down to 33 in the last Lok Sabha election from 62 in 2019.

Akhilesh Yadav to move into new office-cum-residence in Azamgarh
1 2 Varanasi: Built on a campus of over 3 bigha area (81,000 sq ft), a two-storey building will be the residence of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav in Anwarganj area of Azamgarh district, into which he will formally move at noon on Thursday and address party workers. Busy with finalisation of preparations for the housewarming ceremony under supervision of local SP MP Dharmendra Yadav at Anwarganj, the party's district president, Hawaldar Yadav, said, "Our leader has often said that if Etawah was like a heart for him, Azamgarh is its beat. And now he will even have a new residence here." According to Hawaldar, most of the 3 bigha area is open, while a two-storey building with a sloped roof has residential space on the upper floor, while the party office will run on ground floor. The building comprises about six rooms and two halls, including one for meeting with party workers. Painted white, the new premises is located around 3 km from the main city and 6 km from Manduri airstrip. For the Saifai Yadav clan, Azamgarh turned into a safe castle due to vote bank. In the previous 18 general elections and three by-elections for Azamgarh LS seat, Yadav candidates emerged victorious 15 times, while Muslim candidates emerged victorious thrice, including in two by-elections. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Non-Yadav and non-Muslim candidates won this seat in 1952, 1957, and 1984. Even the Bharatiya Janata Party won this seat in a general election once fielding turncoat politician and jailed MLA Ramakant Yadav and a by-election fielding Bhojpuri cine star Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua. In view of the same equations, SP founder, late Mulayam Singh Yadav, made Azamgarh axis of his east UP politics. Due to around 40% OBC and almost 20% Muslim population, even in neighbouring districts Mau, Ambedkarnagar, Ghazipur and Jaunpur, he used to create a cascading effect of the tempo maintained by him there at assembly and LS seats of these districts too. After winning the 2014 LS election from Azamgarh, Mulayam spared it for Akhilesh in 2019. After winning the 2019 LS poll from Azamgarh, Akhilesh surrendered it in 2022 to return to the UP assembly. But before quitting the Azamgarh LS seat, he fulfilled demand of his party leaders and supporters to have a house in the district. Hawaldar said the land for this home was purchased in 2020. The association shown by Akhilesh with east UP helped him and his alliance win around 31 seats of 61 assembly constituencies in 10 districts of this region. In 2024, SP not only wrested the Azamgarh seat from BJP but also performed well in all neighbouring LS seats, including Ghazipur, Ballia, Mau, Jaunpur, and Chandauli.
