136 children administered immunity booster drops at Gorakhnath University's Suvarnaprashan ceremony

Gorakhpur: The department of Kaumarbhritya (Ayurvedic Pediatrics) at Guru Gorakhnath Institute of Medical Sciences, Mahayogi Gorakhnath University (MGUG), turned tradition into celebration on Friday as it hosted the 'Suvarnaprashan Sanskar' with much enthusiasm and community participation. Renowned devotional singer 'Amit Anjan' inaugurated the event by administering the first dose of Suvarnaprashan drops to children. A total of 136 children received the immunity-boosting Ayurvedic formulation as part of the ritual. Trivikrama Mani Tripathi, head of the department and the event coordinator, explained that 'Suvarnaprashan' is a time-tested Ayurvedic practice known for enhancing children's immunity, intelligence, and memory. He added that the ritual will now be observed every month on 'Pushya Nakshatra'. Children from Mulberry School, Siswa (Maharajganj) participated in the event. TNN

Gorakhpur: Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur hosted its induction ceremony on Tuesday for students enrolled in its nursing and paramedical programmes. The event marked formal initiation of students pursuing ANM, B Sc Nursing, Post Basic Nursing, Diploma in Lab Technician, Diploma in Optometry, Diploma in Dialysis, Diploma in Emergency and Trauma Care, Diploma in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Technician and Diploma in Orthopaedic and Plaster Care Technician courses. Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Raghuram Acharya, Dean, IQAC, said MGUG had established itself as a centre of value-based, modern and employment-oriented education. "The university's campus culture serves as a model for others, and every student should feel proud to be a part of this institution," he said. Urging students to remain eager in their pursuit of knowledge, he wished them a bright and successful future. Deputy principal of the nursing college, Princy George, highlighted critical role of nursing and paramedics in the healthcare sector, describing patient care as highest service. Inaugurating the academic building, auditorium and Panchakarma Centre at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Gorakhpur, she said that education is the most powerful medium of empowerment. "Health and safety of eastern UP are directly linked to the overall development of Uttar Pradesh. When the state with the highest population progresses rapidly, India will set new benchmarks of growth. All stakeholders should contribute with determination towards building a developed India," the President said. She said that the girls' hostel project was a significant initiative for women's empowerment, adding that safe accommodation was a major factor in enabling women to pursue higher education. Lauding the efforts of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, she said that institutions inspired by Maharana Pratap embodied the spirit of "Nation First." "Maharana Pratap's sacrifice and courage for national pride continue to inspire generations," she said. "The new centre will enable more people to benefit from this ancient Ayurvedic process," she said. Sharing her own journey, President Murmu said she travelled 300 km from her village to Bhubaneswar in 1970-71 to continue her education. "Back then, no girl from my village had studied outside. I got a place in a girls' hostel in Bhubaneswar. Today, while much has changed, many girls still face hurdles in pursuing higher education due to lack of secure accommodation," she said. Calling Mahayogi Gorakhnath University the first private institution contributing significantly to higher education in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas, the President praised its efforts in aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. President Murmu noted that her predecessor, Ram Nath Kovind, had inaugurated the university four years ago, and since then it has shown impressive progress. "This institution has become a prominent centre for higher and professional education in eastern UP," she said, crediting the development to the guidance and leadership of Chancellor and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. President inaugurates AYUSH University in Gorakhpur

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday (July 1, 2025) inaugurated the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur, in the presence of Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The university has been built at a cost of ₹268 crore in Pipri, Bhathat in the district. The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for AYUSH and Food Safety (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, local MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, and other dignitaries. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the occasion, calling it the beginning of a "new era in health and culture" in the State. In an X post on Tuesday morning, Mr. Adityanath said, "A new era of health and culture is beginning in Gorakhpur. In the sacred land of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath ji, the inauguration of Uttar Pradesh's first AYUSH University in the august presence of Honourable President Droupadi Murmu ji marks the beginning of a new age in healthcare services." Expressing confidence in the university's future, he added, "Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, this university will emerge as a beacon of Indian knowledge traditions, yoga, Ayurveda and holistic health, alongside being a centre of medical education." The President is also scheduled to inaugurate the academic building, auditorium, Panchakarma unit, and lay the foundation stone for a girls' hostel at the Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Aarogyadham campus in Sonbarsa. President Murmu began her visit on Monday (June 30, 2025) from Bareilly, where she addressed the 11th convocation of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute as chief guest. Later in the day, she arrived in Gorakhpur and attended the first convocation of AIIMS Gorakhpur. She also visited the famous Gorakhnath temple, where she offered prayers amidst Vedic chanting by students.
