Murder probe rules out that others 'came to harm'
Officers were initially called to reports of an armed robbery at Asda in Dewsbury at about 21:20 BST on Saturday, and they arrested a 37-year-old man and seized a knife.
West Yorkshire Police said he told them there was a dead woman at a house in Batley. The body of a woman, believed to be in her 20s, was subsequently found in Norfolk Street, and the man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers initially said they were making inquiries into the welfare of a man and a woman in Dewsbury, but in an update said reports they had been harmed were "not accurate".
The arrested man remains in custody, police said.
The force said: "Work is ongoing to formally identify the deceased and a 37-year-old man from Batley remains in custody.
"Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what has happened, but officers would like to reassure the local community that there is not believed to be any wider risk to the public at this time."

New Zealand woman arrested after 2-year-old girl found alive in suitcase stowed in bus luggage
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A New Zealand woman was arrested on a child neglect charge Sunday after a bus driver found a 2-year-old girl alive in a suitcase that was stowed in the vehicle's luggage compartment, authorities said. The bus driver noticed movement inside the bag during a planned stop at the settlement of Kaiwaka, north of Auckland, after a passenger asked for access to the luggage compartment, Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said in a statement. When the driver opened the suitcase they discovered the 2-year-old girl, who was very hot but otherwise appeared physically unharmed, Harrison said. The child was taken to a hospital, where she remained Sunday night local time. The arrested woman was charged with ill-treatment or neglect of a child and was due to appear in court Monday. She was not named by law enforcement.

Victims of Montana bar shooting identified as manhunt for military veteran suspect continues
Officials have identified the four victims who were shot and killed when an Army veteran allegedly opened fire at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, on Friday morning. At about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, 45-year-old Michael Brown allegedly entered The Owl Bar and opened fire, killing 59-year-old Daniel Edwin Baillie, 64-year-old Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 70-year-old David Allen Leach, and 74-year-old Tony Wayne Palm, all of whom were residents of Anaconda. Brown remains at large as search efforts continue in the Stumptown area, just west of Anaconda, where the suspect was last seen. Authorities released a photo of Brown on Saturday, showing him barefoot and shirtless, walking down a flight of steps. The photo showed Brown wearing black shorts and fleeing after the shooting Friday, according to the state Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI). It is unclear what led to the shooting. DCI Administrator Lee Johnson said in a statement Friday evening that officials had located the white F-150 pickup truck in which Brown allegedly fled. However, Brown was not located in or around the vehicle. After discovering the vehicle, authorities focused their search on the mountains near Stumptown Road. The search continued into Sunday and has involved air and ground resources. SWAT also cleared Brown's house Friday, though he remained at large. Law enforcement officials have not received reports of Brown harming any other people, though he is believed to be armed and dangerous. Residents in the area have been encouraged to stay inside their homes and remain on high alert. DCI has warned residents that if they see Brown not to approach him. Instead, residents are encouraged to call 911 immediately. He has been described as 5-foot-10 and about 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Brown was an armor crewman in the Army from January 2001 to May 2005 and served in the National Guard from April 2006 to March 2008, Army Public Affairs confirmed to Fox News Digital. He deployed to Iraq from February 2004 to March 2005 and left the service with the rank of sergeant. He also served as an armor crewman in the Montana National Guard from April 2006 to March 2009, officials said.

State Trooper Is Said to Be a Suspect in 2 Fatal Shootings
A New Jersey state trooper who previously was a supervisor on the governor's protection detail is suspected of killing his former girlfriend and a man in Hunterdon County before killing himself, according to two people briefed on the investigation. The deaths were discovered around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, when local police officers responded to a 911 call in the Pittstown section of Franklin Township made by someone who had found an unconscious woman with physical trauma. The officers found two people who had been fatally shot in what investigators believe was a targeted act, according to the Hunterdon County prosecutor's office, which released a statement on Sunday. Investigators identified the victims as Lauren Semanchik, 33, of Pittstown, and Tyler Webb, 29, of Forked River. The two victims were found in Ms. Semanchik's home. While the prosecutor's office did not name a suspect, he was identified by a person familiar with the investigation as Ricardo Santos, a state trooper and Ms. Semanchik's ex-boyfriend. A second person familiar with the investigation confirmed the name of the suspect. Officer Santos had served several years ago in the State Police's executive protection unit on Gov. Philip D. Murphy's detail. More recently, he was assigned to the agency's dignitary protection unit, which guards other important people in the state government, one of the people said. He was found dead in a vehicle in Johnson Park in Piscataway, N.J., on Saturday, according to one of the people familiar with the investigation.
