Game will be tighter than odds suggest
Bayern Munich are clear favourites at 4/6, which may be underestimating Flamengo a little. The Brazilians won Group D, beating Chelsea 3-1 in their second group game.
Chelsea had Nicolas Jackson sent off in that match but Flamengo had already fought back from being a goal down to lead 2-1 by that stage. Having won their first two fixtures, their manager Filipe Luis was able to rest players for the final game against Los Angeles FC, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Bayern also rotated their line-up when they faced Benfica in their final match, but the move backfired as they lost 1-0 and finished second in Group C. This game should be tighter than the odds suggest and for my first bet I'm going with the scores to be level at half-time.
Flamengo favourites to edge card count
Flamengo's clash with Chelsea serves as a good comparison for this contest, with the Brazilians once again facing top-class European opposition.
The Mengao more than held their own in that game, enjoying 51.5 per cent of play and picking up three yellow cards. I would expect Bayern to be able to dictate the possession more than Chelsea were able to, putting the onus on Flamengo to recover the ball.
Bayern have only picked up one yellow card so far across their three matches, so it seems likely that the South American side will receive the most bookings.
Olise hitting new heights at Bayern
Bayern Munich's Michael Olise is the joint-top scorer in this tournament with three goals.
The winger scored twice in the 10-0 thrashing of Auckland City and also found the net in the 2-1 victory over Boca Juniors. He started on the bench for the Bavarians' third match against Benfica, coming on at half-time.
These goals have taken the 23-year-old's tally for his first season at Bayern to 20 in 53 appearances. With Olise also notching his first two international goals for France this year, odds of 7/2 look generous for the dangerous forward to get on the scoresheet again.

Controversial NBA wag Draya Michele, 40, hits out at critics of romance with boy toy Jalen Green, 23

Draya Michele has emotionally revealed how criticism of her relationship with NBA star Jalen Green has impacted her. The couple have a 17-year age-gap and Michele, 40, has a son who is only a year younger than the 23-year-old Green. They are believed to have started dating in the summer of 2023 and even have a kid together. But the stir their romance caused still leads to Michele getting targeted by social media trolls. 'I mean, you try to get to that point (where you don't give a f***), but I mean you're still human and you still have feelings,' she told the New York Post. 'Sometimes, you know you can read things that are hurtful and you want to just let it roll off, but it doesn't always work like that. 'It also depends on what type of day you're already having when you read the message… I take it because it comes with it, with the limelight, like I said. But I'm human and I have feelings.' Life is changing for Green and Michele after he was traded to the Phoenix Suns by the Houston Rockets as part of the deal that moved Kevin Durant to Texas. 'This was my first time experiencing a trade,' Michele said. 'I just think, you know, as his girlfriend, my main responsibility is to support him wherever we were going.' She said they haven't found a home in Phoenix yet, but added: 'Phoenix is an amazing city. We were not disappointed with Phoenix at all. 'But I just need to be supportive of him and of the change and then just try to make things as smooth of a transition [as possible] for him, and not stressing him out with the worries of moving and all that. 'He's not gonna have to lift the finger. I'll handle all of that so that he can just relax and play basketball. Once he gets there, he won't have anything else to worry about. And that's just really what I try to focus on: keeping things convenient and easy for him.' Ahead of the playoffs with the Rockets last season, Green sent a message to the critics taunting him about his personal life. 'Leave my girl out I'm deactivating my shi for the playoffs,' he wrote, referencing his social media backout for the postseason. The Rockets went out of the playoffs in round one at the hands of Golden State Warriors.

Florian Wirtz's father reveals how Arne Slot convinced his son to reject Bayern, his first impressions of Liverpool, and gives insight into his potential role with the Reds

Florian Wirtz 's father has given a detailed insight into his son's first impressions of Liverpool and working with Arne Slot. He has also spoken of how Slot convinced him to spurn Bayern Munich, his long-time admirers and a dream progression for German stars, in favour of moving to England. Liverpool are preparing to unleash their £116million superstar on the Premier League this season after signing him from Bayer Leverkusen in a British record deal. Reds fans are chomping at the bit to see him in action and learn where he fits into Slot's plans after he was left out of their first friendly, a 3-1 win over Preston. Hans-Joachim Wirtz was left to tell Bayern's chiefs that his son wanted to go to Merseyside, but painted a glowing picture of the attacking midfielder's impressions of Liverpool. 'Arne Slot has impressed Florian on the pitch,' Hans Wirtz told Der Spiegel, via BILD. 'He's also a very pleasant person. 'Florian's best coaches have always been those who gave him plenty of freedom,' he added - perhaps an insight into how he will be deployed. 'And those with the greatest empathy have also reached Florian. He finds the game in England interesting because it thrives on pace and dynamism. 'Arne Slot presented his playing philosophy, the team tactics in possession and pressing, and how Florian can develop his strengths in these areas. This made a decisive impression on Florian. The training conditions in Liverpool were also totally impressive. 'The situation with Bayern was difficult because Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge made incredible efforts and also clearly analyzed the sporting possibilities. I have the greatest respect for Uli Hoeness and his lifetime achievements,' he told Der Spiegel. 'After Florian's cruciate ligament tear in 2022, he selflessly helped us quickly get an appointment for the surgery in Innsbruck. We are still grateful to him for that. That's why the final phone call with Uli Hoeness was very difficult for me. 'We had spoken several times beforehand, so he was as objective and fair as I'd ever known him. But of course, he couldn't hide his disappointment. After all, he had personally worked hard to secure this transfer.' If things go well, Wirtz is the sort of player that Liverpool can build their next era around. Aged 22, he has the world at his feet but is already very accomplished - a German double winner, 31-time Germany international, and a spellbinding presence on the pitch. His influence from attacking midfield led to 16 goals and 15 assists last season and Liverpool will certainly hope he can add his flair to their output. Podcast All episodes At the moment, it is unclear where Slot will want to play WIrtz, or indeed where he will need him. Attacking midfield looks the most natural position, but he could be deployed as a false nine, on the left wing, or even further back in a number eight role if needed. His mum and dad, Hans and Karin, are heavily involved in his career and also met Manchester City officials in May when it was still unclear where he was headed.

Clark to miss WNBA All-Star Game, 3-Point Contest after injury

INDIANAPOLIS, July 17 (Reuters) - Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will not compete in the WNBA All-Star game this weekend, the Rookie of the Year said on Thursday, after missing playing time due to injury. The all-time collegiate scoring record holder sparked a women's basketball renaissance in Indianapolis and was expected to be among the main attractions at this weekend's event in her team's home market. She will also miss the 3-Point Contest, where she was set to face off against record-holder Sabrina Ionescu of the reigning champions New York Liberty. "I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body," said Clark. "I will still be at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy (Brondello) coach our team to a win. Can't wait to see you all out there!" Clark was sidelined from Wednesday's game against the Liberty due to a right-groin injury, after missing several more games earlier this season due to a quad injury and left-groin injury. Clark, who had never missed a collegiate game due to injury, was named one of the team captains for the All-Star Game after receiving the most fan votes with 1,293,526 casting her on their ballots. "I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend," Clark said in her statement. "I know this will be the best All-Star yet."
