'Just having fun, man': Tom Cruise's extremely awkward answer to Father's Day question goes viral amid estrangement from lookalike daughter Suri Noelle
The 62-year-old Hollywood icon appeared taken aback during an interview at the New York premiere of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning on Monday night.
"Father's Day is just around the corner," an E! News reporter asked the star.
"What would an ideal Father's Day look like for you?"
Cruise hesitated, replying: "You know …" before trailing off and glancing into the distance.
Eventually, he said: "Just having fun, man."
The Top Gun actor then bizarrely added: "Making movies, big adventures, having a great time."
Cruise is a father of three: Isabella 'Bella' Jane, 32, and Connor, 30, whom he adopted with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, and 19-year-old Suri, his daughter with third ex-wife Katie Holmes.
The Hollywood icon has remained notoriously private about his children in recent years, particularly Suri, from whom he has reportedly been estranged since his 2012 split from Holmes.
It's understood Holmes, 46, for divorce in order "to protect Suri from Scientology", as per a 2013 deposition.
Suri, who bears a striking resemblance to Cruise, grew up in New York City with her mother and graduated from LaGuardia High School in June 2024.
At the ceremony, the teen announced her new name in the official program as 'Suri Noelle', which is both hers and Katie's middle name.
"I'm proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her and I'm happy," Holmes told Town & Country in August 2024.
"I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It's exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that."
While Cruise is understood to remain close to his older children, they largely keep out of the spotlight.
Connor, a BBQ enthusiast and avid fisherman, lives in Clearwater, Florida, and has been seen attending events from time to time with his father.
Isabella, meanwhile, is based in South London with her husband Max Parker and works as an artist and graphic designer.
Both also share half-sisters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14- Kidman's daughters with her husband, Aussie country singer Keith Urban.
Kidman recently faced backlash online for seemingly excluding Bella and Connor from a Mother's Day Instagram tribute.
The Babygirl actress posted a photo of herself with her late mother Janelle and her two younger daughters during a family visit to Uluru.
"My mother and my daughters in Uluru, beautiful memories… always. Happy Mother's Day," she wrote.
But fans were quick to point out the omission.
"Doesn't she mean 'with 2 of my daughters'… what happened to Bella? (and Connor?)" one user commented.
"@nicolekidman how about the other ones?" another added.
Other fans quickly came to the 56-year-old actress' defence.
"None of your business, this is a celebratory, sincere post, buzz off," one user said, while another claimed Bella and Connor are "disconnected" from their mother due to being "indoctrinated Scientologists".

Bad Bunny teases his movie future following Happy Gilmore 2
Bad Bunny wants to star in more movies following Happy Gilmore 2. The 31-year-old rapper joined Adam Sandler, 58, for the 2025 comedy flick, and Bad Bunny has now revealed he is hoping to 'explore different genres' in film. Speaking to E! News, he said: 'I hope to keep doing comedy, but also, I am hoping to explore different genres, like drama … keep doing action, like Bullet Train.' Bad Bunny - whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio - was showered with praise by his Happy Gilmore 2 co-star Sandler, who led the Netflix movie as the titular golfer. He gushed: '[Bad Bunny] is just in it. They call 'action' and Benito is ready to go, and stays focused and was the guy he wanted to be the whole time.' Happy Gilmore 2 - which is the sequel to the beloved 1996 comedy movie Happy Gilmore - follows the retired hockey player-turned-golf legend as he returns to the green to mentor a hot-headed new prodigy. When an old rival resurfaces, Happy must reclaim his swing and his spirit to save the game he loves. Looking to the future, Sandler admitted he had 'never even thought of' making a third Happy Gilmore movie, though insisted he had also never considered Happy Gilmore 2 being a possibility either. When asked if a third Happy Gilmore film was on the table, Sandler said: 'I never even thought of that. But I never thought of Happy Gilmore 2 either, so we'll see.' The Grown Ups star previously admitted it was constant fan pressure that had led to him getting the ball rolling on Happy Gilmore 2. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Sandler said: 'When I walk[ed] down the street a lot of times people [would] say, 'You ever gonna do Happy Gilmore 2?' 'And for 28 years, I was like, 'What are you talking about? No.' And then all of a sudden, I was like, 'Maybe' ... people kept asking. And then it just felt right.' Happy Gilmore 2 also stars Ben Stiller as Hal L., Christopher McDonald, as Shooter McGavin, Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit and NFL star Travis Kelce as a hotel employee. When asked about the wide-ranging cast, Sandler said: 'I don't know how it happened. We wrote 'em stuff and everybody was kind enough to come. And everybody in it did a great job. 'Every day someone cool would show up and we'd hang out.'

Lindsay Lohan's son Luai is already 'mocking' her
Lindsay Lohan's two-year-old son is already making fun of her. The Freakier Friday actress, 38, has toddler Luai with her husband Bader Shammas, and her boy has started "mocking" her when she tries to tell him not to do something. She told E! News: "I have this thing, where I'm like, 'Luai, don't do that.' "And this morning before I was going to say it, he's like, 'Don't do that, Luai,' and looked at me and I was like, 'Oh my god, he's mocking me.'" Lindsay still has over a decade to go until she has to deal with the teenage rebellion years like Jamie Lee Curtis' character did in the original Freaky Friday film. She added: "I'm not in that position with my son yet. He's still a toddler. [But] he runs! Fast, out of the house. He's like, 'Outside!' Gone." Despite the challenges of parenthood, being a mother has "changed" the Parent Trap star. Jamie said: "Her priorities have changed. her main priority is her little boy. "This is a new mom and all of the complications of a new mom. And so the priorities have changed, but the friendship hasn't." In March 2024, Lindsay reflected on the way her mindset has changed since becoming a mother for the first time. She explained to E! News at the time: "I want to do things that my son can see. But I also want to do things that inspire me. "It's a learning process — I'm having a different go at it, figuring out what I want to do and how I want to do it." Lindsay, Bader and their son live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and while she does return to New York and Los Angeles when she can, being back in LA with her boy makes her "stressed". She told the US issue of ELLE magazine: "It's hard in Los Angeles. Even taking my son to the park in Los Angeles, I get stressed. I'm like, 'Are there cameras?' "In New York, there's no worry; no one bothers us. Everyone has their own thing going on. "There's a different kind of energy in New York. I'd rather have downtime in New York than I would in Los Angeles."
