Furthermore, the Minister noted the need for vigilance from the Forest Department following recent social media reports regarding a tiger sighting in the vicinity.
Minister Reddy urged all departmental officials to collaborate closely and ordered the immediate repair of R&B roads to facilitate access for attendees. He concluded by mentioning that arrangements for the Brahmotsavams are being made in accordance with the instructions from temple priests.

Despite measures, forest fires still a big concern in Maharashtra: Official
Mumbai, Jul 20 (PTI) Forest fires continue to threaten Maharashtra's ecosystems, particularly in the eastern parts of the state, despite several measures and technological interventions, a senior forest department official said on Sunday. Forest Minister Ganesh Naik had earlier informed the legislature that between January 1 and April 15 this year, 204 forest fire incidents were reported from various forest areas across several districts. Naik had said that most of these fires were caused by human negligence or natural factors. 'Although no wildlife deaths have been reported during these incidents, the recurrence of fires remains a concern," he had said. The official said that the Forest Department has taken multiple steps, including issuing fire prevention guidelines, training personnel, and deploying firefighting equipment, the official said. 'In January 2024 alone, eight fire incidents were recorded," the official said, adding that illegal burning of forest areas is being tackled under provisions of the Indian Forest Act. In several regions in the state, including Konkan, Vidarbha and the northern parts, people start forest fires to keep wild animals at bay. Fires are also used to clear forested patches and stake claims to the land, as many areas lack clearly demarcated forest boundaries, the official said. Efforts to prevent fires include the marking of forest boundaries, creation of fire lines, and increased patrolling in vulnerable areas. 'We have trained staff in fire management and are using modern equipment to enhance response time," the official said. Despite these measures, a large number of fires continue to erupt, he said. According to the India State of Forest Report 2023, released in December last year, Maharashtra ranked fifth in the country with 16,008 forest fire incidents between November 2023 and June 2024. Of these, Gadchiroli alone accounted for 7,042 cases, the highest number for any district in India. 'The department is using advanced tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing to identify high-risk zones. Forest fire control centres have been established, fire-blower machines are used to remove dry leaf litter, and observation towers have been installed in sensitive areas," the official said. Meanwhile, the state has also recorded a sharp increase in human-wildlife conflicts. According to official records, such incidents, including human deaths, injuries, crop damage and livestock loss, rose from 44,692 in 2020-21 to 2,37,841 in 2023-24. To address compensation and related concerns, the state government allocated Rs 80 crore each in 2020-21 and 2021-22, Rs 127.1 crore in 2022-23, Rs 145 crore in 2023-24, and Rs 220.86 crore in 2024-25. 'The Forest Department has submitted a proposal to the Finance Department for additional financial provision based on the increasing number of conflict cases. The proposal, based on data from December 2023, is currently under review," the official added. Monsoon showers revitalise RR; 116.9 mm rains recorded
Rangareddy: After a month of intermittent monsoon showers, Rangareddy district has received a total rainfall of 116.9 millimetres as of Friday, surpassing the normal rainfall of 107.8 mm by 8.5 per cent. According to a report released by the Rangareddy district Collectorate, seven mandals have received excess rainfall, while 18 others have experienced normal showers so far. One mandal was categorised as having deficit rainfall, and another as having scanty rainfall within the district's total of 27 mandals. On Friday alone, the district recorded 14.5 mm of rainfall. However, the report also noted that no mandal in the district has witnessed showers for more than three consecutive days since the beginning of July. Maheshwaram and Keshampet lead the list of mandals with excess rainfall, both recording 152.5 millimetres as of Friday. Other mandals that have received over 100 mm of rainfall as of Friday include Nandigama (146.6 mm), Ibrahimpatnam (143.9 mm), Yacharam (141.3 mm), Shabad (140.7 mm), Manchal (140.1 mm), Shamshabad (130.6 mm), Serilingampally (128.9 mm), Farooqnagar (124.2 mm), Moinabad (123.3 mm), Madgul (120.9 mm), Talakondlapalle (119.0 mm), Kothur (117.2 mm), Abdullahpur (115.7 mm), Amangal (114.0 mm), Kandukur (112.5 mm), Shankarpally (109.9 mm), Chowderguda (105.6 mm), Balapur (105.2 mm), and Saroornagar (100.7 mm). Overall, the trend indicates that the district has fared better in terms of rainfall this year compared to the last five years. Meanwhile, District Collector C Narayan Reddy, IAS, has instructed officials to ensure the timely completion of targets under the 'Vana Mahotsav' programme planned for this season. Addressing officials via video conference, Mr Reddy emphasised that the plantation drive under the 'Vana Mahotsav' programme should be undertaken on a grand scale across the district. 'Saplings should be planted in all government schools, colleges, Primary Health Centres, and other government-affiliated institutions, besides industrial estates and vacant government lands in villages, mandals, and municipalities,' the Collector stated. He urged officials from various departments to collaborate effectively to achieve the target. Mr Reddy also stressed the importance of nurturing the planted saplings, ensuring 'proper fencing and timely watering to ensure their growth.' The Collector warned that the entire plantation programme must be executed with a proactive action plan, and any negligence on the part of officials would not be tolerated.

Bengaluru-Hyd flight diverted to Gannavaram
Vijayawada: An IndiGo flight en route to Hyderabad from Bengaluru was diverted to Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada due to inclement weather conditions at Shamshabad airport late on Tuesday night. There were 222 passengers in the aircraft. "The IndiGo flight landed at Gannavaram airport around 9:10 pm on Tuesday after it was diverted due to bad weather at Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad," Vijayawada airport director M Lakshmi Kantha Reddy said. Mentioning that there were no technical snags in the aircraft, Reddy said the flight will depart for Hyderabad as soon as possible after the weather clears at Shamshabad airport.
