Ex-NFL CB says the quiet part out loud about Steelers' Jalen Ramsey trade
On Monday's episode of the Say What Needs To Be Said podcast, Samuel revealed his high hopes for the Ramsey-led Steelers defense this season — and criticized the Dolphins' trade mindset:
"If the Steelers' defense was ranked 12th in total defense, with almost no production from Minkah Fitzpatrick last season, I know, and I guarantee, Jalen Ramsey will make this defense a better defense,' Asante said. "And the Dolphins had no reason to trade Jalen Ramsey, other than that they were sensitive. There's no leadership in the Dolphins organization. Mike McDaniels is a pushover. Chris Greer, the general manager, has no backbone. These guys over here, the Miami Dolphins, they are running this team like a little league team. …
"To me, it doesn't make sense. Because [the Dolphins] traded for another safety, when Jalen Ramsey could easily be moved to safety and be way more productive than the person you just traded for.'
Aside from the harsh criticism and complete dismantling of the Dolphins organization, Samuel hit the nail right on the head — the Steelers defense has gotten very few splash plays in return from Fitzpatrick over the past two seasons, while Ramsey is a proven ball hawk, solid tackler, and offers versatility across the secondary.

Former NY Giants Star Makes Strong Statement on Possible Comeback
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Jason Pierre-Paul's career with the New York Giants took an unexpected turn during the 2015 offseason. As the star pass rusher celebrated the 4th of July holiday, he ended up dealing with a career-altering injury, which sidelined him for a while. Pierre-Paul's incident wasn't career-ending. In fact, he continued playing for years after, despite dealing with a constant setback. He even continued to produce at a high level throughout his post-Giants era. Pierre-Paul didn't play at all during the 2024 NFL season. When he suited up for the New Orleans Saints in 2023, he appeared in just one game. While it might be assumed his playing days are in the rearview, the veteran recently revealed that he's still training and waiting on a potential comeback. Jason Pierre-Paul #90 of the New York Giants in action against the Kansas City Chiefs during their game at MetLife Stadium on November 19, 2017 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Jason Pierre-Paul #90 of the New York Giants in action against the Kansas City Chiefs during their game at MetLife Stadium on November 19, 2017 in East Rutherford, New Jersey."I can still do it," Pierre-Paul told ESPN recently. If Pierre-Paul can make it back to the New York Giants for a second stint, he would be thrilled. "I think that'll be dope. Tremendous," he added. "To go back somewhere where my career started ... the fans know me and know the type of player that I am. I'll always be that type of player and just give 'em everything I got, which I know it'll be more than enough." Coming out of South Florida in 2010, Pierre-Paul was drafted by the Giants with the 15th overall pick in the first round. In the five years leading up to the incident, Pierre-Paul accounted for 285 tackles, 73 hits on the quarterback, and 42 sacks. When he returned to the field in 2015, Pierre-Paul appeared in just eight games. He added one sack and 26 tackles to his resume. For the final two years of his run with the Giants, Pierre-Paul combined 121 tackles, landed 29 hits on the QB, and collected 15.5 sacks. In 2018, Pierre-Paul was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent four seasons there, registering 171 tackles and 33 sacks. Since his run in Tampa, he had short stints with the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints, and the Miami Dolphins. It's unclear if Pierre-Paul will get a chance to suit up again at 36 years old after spending the last season off the field, but the veteran defensive lineman is confident he can get back out there and produce at a high level. He hopes the Giants see that and bring him in to finish his career there. For more New York Giants and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Summer is here, and it is everyone's favorite time of the year, scouting time. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Bucs fans, but also give them an idea of names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Tampa Bay. Are we going to write about quarterbacks? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so Bucs fans can be the most informed fans. So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall. Player Information Player: James Brockermeyer School: Miami (FL) Height/Weight: 6-3/295 lbs. Player Background - 4-Star Recruit - Under Armour All-American - Transferred from Alabama to TCU to Miami (FL) - All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2024 Career Stats Heading into the 2025 Season - 28 Career Games - 26 Career Starts Notable PFF Numbers Heading into the 2025 Season - 67.7 PFF Run Blocking Grade - 81.1 PFF Pass Blocking Grade - 343 Run Blocking Snaps - 506 Pass Blocking Snaps Player Traits - Will finish blocks and take defenders out of plays - Can be lean-looking but uses his weight and leverage well - Good initial punch into defenders - Good anchor ability - Can recover well if beaten by defenders Player Summary James Brockermeyer has been in the college ranks for years now, but he has yet to build up a strong resume. Last year at TCU, he finally showed some promise with some meaningful reps. He demonstrated good power and punch ability into defenders, as well as a good base to handle pass rushers. He looks lean on film but he has some good leverage skills, and it allows him to not get beaten as often as you would think when watching him. At this point, Brockermeyer needs more reps, plain and simple. Once he gets that, we could be looking at a reliable interior offensive lineman in the NFL.

Ohio defensive tackle product originally committed to Florida flips to Ohio State
BREAKING: Class of 2026 DL Jamir 'JJ' Perez has Flipped his Commitment from Florida to Ohio State, he tells me for @rivalsThe 6'4 350 DL from Cleveland, OH had been Committed to the Gators since May'The best in Ohio stay in Ohio' It's the way we thought it would go along. Three-star Cleveland Glenville defensive tackle Jamir Perez has flipped his commitment from the Florida Gators to Ohio State, a place that is a pipeline for the Tarblooders and a destination most felt he would end up in the first place. Instead, Perez shocked everyone by deciding to head south to Gainesville when he committed back in mid-May. Despite the early word, Larry Johnson and gang never gave up on the Ohio native, and rumblings began to surface that Perez was leaning towards flipping, and that's exactly what happened on Friday when the announcement was made on social media. The 6-foot, 4-inch, 360-pounder is a mountain of a prospect and a true nose tackle that could develop into something very special for Ohio State despite having just a 3-star status. Currently, he is ranked as the No. 74 defensive lineman and 679th overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His commitment gives Ohio State 20 for the class as it looks to put the finishing touches heading into the fall and toward the Early Signing Period in December. There has been a lot of news with Ohio State football recruiting lately, and it's been a mixed bag with some good news and plenty of not-so-good news. We'll continue to keep an eye on what's happening on the banks of the Olentangy when it comes to luring prospects to play in the Scarlet and Gray.
