PD Act will be invoked against encroachers, warns Surekha
The minister, on the request of local leaders, inspected the allegedly encroached lands in Chengicherla in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
Later speaking to reporters, the minister said that a total of 30.23 acres in three survey numbers in Chengicherla belonging to the Endowments department and a few individuals have been occupied since 2022.
'After conducting a survey, the authorities confirmed that this land belongs to the Endowments department. We have ordered an inquiry. After receiving the survey report, the government will take appropriate action,' she said while instructing the officials to erect a fence around the land to protect it.
The officials informed her that out of a total of 91,827 acres of land belonging to the Endowments department, close to 6,000 acres of land is under encroachment.
Later in the day, the Endowments minister made a surprise visit to the Balkampet Yellamma temple to inspect the arrangements being made for the upcoming annual kalyana mahotsavam of Goddess Yellamma.

Nirmal: Two newly constructed buildings that include a Rs 9 crore 100-room TTD guest house and a Rs 3 crore administrative bungalow are set to be inaugurated in Basara Mandal of Nirmal district on July 10 by Endowments Minister Konda Surekha. However, controversy brews as locals allege the furniture procurement for these buildings is being rushed without a formal tender process. Each department is functioning independently, with temple officials who are government employees neglecting their duties and relying on lower-level staff and daily wage workers. Due to the lack of basic amenities like drinking water, accommodation, queue lines, and online ticketing, pilgrims are facing severe difficulties. Devotees from distant places have expressed frustration over the mismanagement. Locals and devotees strongly allege that the state government is indifferent toward the renowned pilgrimage site of Basara Sri Gnana Saraswati Temple. Despite allocating Rs 50 crore for development during the 10-year BRS rule, the funds were reportedly not utilized effectively. Even though the then Endowments Minister hailed from Nirmal district, he allegedly showed no interest in the temple, leading to his political downfall. AP JAC urges govt. to implement HR policy for outsourcing employees
The AP JAC (Amaravati) and the Contract and Outsourcing Employees Association have urged the State's coalition government to implement a dedicated Human Resource Policy for outsourcing employees, similar to the provisions extended to SERP and MEPMA employees. A delegation led by AP JAC Chairman Bopparaju, Association President K. Suman, General Secretary E. Madhu Babu, and Vice President Pasupuleti Shiva Saida Rao submitted a detailed memorandum to the Finance Minister and AP COS study committee member Payyavula Keshav on Thursday. The association highlighted the high hopes outsourcing employees had from the current coalition government, especially given the pro-employee steps taken during the 2014–19 TDP tenure. These included a 50% salary hike, GO granting ₹15,000 towards miscellaneous expenses, GO granting 180 days of maternity leave to female employees, and GO providing ex gratia for accidental or natural death. Key demands include the immediate implementation of HR policy for outsourcing employees through AP Corporation for Outsourced Services (APCOS); framing of exclusive service rules for full-time outsourcing staff in government departments; seniority-based increment benefits for long-serving employees; extension of all welfare schemes promised in the coalition manifesto to outsourcing workers; and provision of 30 days paid medical leave annually. They also cited the hardships faced under the previous administration, including only a 23% salary hike and the loss of welfare benefits due to treating employees as government staff under CFMS, leading to a withdrawal of schemes. Several private agency-led exploitation was also mentioned, where salaries were withheld or embezzled, seeking government intervention via the PD Act for recovery. The delegation expressed gratitude to the government for setting up a Cabinet subcommittee on outsourcing employees soon after assuming power and demanded swift, favourable action on long-pending issues. In response, Mr. Keshav assured the delegation of the government's intention to deliver better services to the public through outsourcing employees and that there was no plan to dismantle APCOS. He said all concerns will be thoroughly reviewed, and if necessary, the Group of Ministers will consult all stakeholders before arriving at a decision.

Telangana Minister Konda Surekha calls for target-driven approach to implement Vanamahotsavam programme
HYDERABAD: Environment & Forests Minister Konda Surekha has called for a coordinated and target-driven approach to implement the Vanamahotsavam programme effectively across the state. Speaking during a video conference with district collectors, in the presence of Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, the minister highlighted the importance of identifying vacant government and community lands to carry out large-scale plantations. She directed all departments to actively participate in the programme and emphasised the need for each district to adopt a focused strategy. District collectors were asked to immediately convene meetings of the District Level Monitoring and Consultative Committees to finalise action plans in coordination with all line departments. Paryavaran competition for students launched Meanwhile, Surekha released the poster campaign for the 50-day National Students Paryavaran Competition at her Jubilee Hills residence. The campaign aims to involve students in basic environmental protection activities. Each student will plant and care for one tree, take a tree protection pledge, and tie a rakhi to trees under the Vriksha Rakshabandhan initiative. Trees can also be planted in memory of elders or freedom fighters.
