Michigan football aims to flip Georgia's 2026 wide receiver during Ann Arbor visit
Michigan football already has one commitment in 2026 from a high school north of Atlanta who appeared to prefer an SEC school. Now the Wolverines are working on snagging another from just nine miles away from the other.
It was something of a shock when the maize and blue were able to get a pledge from lifelong Alabama fan, four-star interior offensive lineman Bear McWhorter. McWhorter hails from White (Ga.) Cass, which is just nine miles from Cartersville -- the high school that produced Clemson standout Trevor Lawrence. Years removed from Lawrence's tenure, there's a four-star wide receiver committed to another SEC school that the Wolverines are working hard to flip.
Georgia-committed wideout set to visit Ann Arbor
Michigan is set to host official visitors for the annual spring-summer slate beginning on Friday, and On3's Ethan McDowell confirmed that the maize and blue are pulling something of a coup. 6-foot-1, 183-pound wide receiver Brady Marchese, from the aforementioned Cartersville, has been committed to Georgia since March, but it appears that he'll be on campus in Ann Arbor this weekend, starting on Saturday.
Marchese is rated highest by ESPN, which has him as the No. 62 player in the country and eighth-best wide receiver and player from the state of Georgia. He also plans to visit the Bulldogs and Florida officially.
Seeking wideouts in 2026
Michigan football already has one wide receiver committed in 2026 in Dallas (Tx.) Parish Episcopal three-star Jaylen Pile, who has been pledged to the Wolverines since fall 2024. But the maize and blue are targeting multiple other big names, with Miami (Fla.) Northwestern five-star Calvin Russell being the biggest target, but the maize and blue are also in a good spot with Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star Travis Johnson, Mansfield (Tx.) four-star Zion Robinson, and Rochester (N.Y.) James Monroe four-star Messiah Hampton.
The Wolverines excelled at flipping targets last cycle -- particularly within the SEC -- with Bryce Underwood coming from LSU, Shamari Earls coming from Georgia, Nate Marshall coming from Auburn, and Ty Haywood coming from Alabama.

Georgia transfer projected as first-round NFL draft pick
Penn State Nittany Lions cornerback A.J. Harris has been projected as a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft in ESPN's latest mock draft. Harris, who transferred to Penn State after his freshman season in 2023 with the Georgia Bulldogs, is a former five-star recruit. Matt Miller predicts that Harris will land with the Washington Commanders with the No. 25 pick in the draft. Harris is coming off a great sophomore season with Penn State. He helped the Nittany Lions advance to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff and recorded 48 tackles, one interception and five pass deflections. Harris had a much larger role at Penn State than he did in 2023 with Georgia (eight tackles). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback is a rising junior and has what it takes to play at the next level. Harris made a leap after his freshman season and should show significant improvement in his second year as the starter at Penn State. What ESPN said about A.J. Harris "Harris has shown ball-hawking skills and loves to press and jam receivers," said Miller. "He's still a bit green, having started only one season, but last season's tape -- along with Penn State's track record in developing defenders -- makes Harris one of the most promising corners in the country." Losing Harris via the transfer portal hurt for Georgia. There's no doubt he's one of Georgia's most painful transfer exits in recent memory along with quarterback Carson Beck and outside linebacker Damon Wilson after the 2024 season. Auburn target Adam Bologoun-Ali changes commitment date
The four-star Florida linebacker shared on social media that he needs two more days to make his college decision. Auburn football is in a great position to land a talented linebacker from Florida. However, Auburn fans will need to wait an extra two days to learn if he will be a Tiger. Adam Balogoun-Ali, a four-star linebacker from West Palm Beach, Florida, shared on social media Wednesday that he will now commit on July 8, two days after his original commitment date of July 6. Auburn, along with SEC rivals Missouri and Kentucky, are in the mix to land the commitment of the top-30 linebacker. Last month, Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live submitted a prediction that favored Auburn landing Balogoun-Ali, which would be massive for a program that has fallen over 60 spots in 2026 recruiting after losing several blue-chip players to other programs. Balogoun-Ali shares that defensive coordinator DJ Durkin is the biggest factor in Auburn remaining in his final three. 'Coach Durkin is great,' Balogoun-Ali said. 'He is a genuine dude, and someone I listen to and believe in. His main message to me is that I am the main guy that he wants. He has to recruit others because I am taking visits, but if I committed, he tells me he would shut down the recruitment of others.' Auburn ranks No. 89 in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting rankings, with zero linebacker commits. Should Balogoun-Ali commit to Auburn, he would join EDGE Hezekiah Harris and QB Peyton Falzone as a four-star commitment in Auburn's 2026 haul. Countdown to Kickoff: Ben Grubbs is the Saints Player of Day 66
The Pro Bowl guard didn't miss a snap in his three-year Saints career There are 66 days that remain before the New Orleans Saints start their 59th year of NFL existence and 2025 regular season. Kellen Moore will be the team's new head coach this year as the Saints look to improve on a 5-12 record from a year ago. There are no current New Orleans players wearing No. 66. With that in mind, former standout offensive lineman Ben Grubbs is our choice for Saints Player of the Day. Here's a closer look at Grubbs' background and career. An attendee of Elmore High School in Alabama, Grubbs was a star linebacker and fullback on the football team as well as a basketball standout. He was recruited to Auburn as a defensive end but redshirted in 2002 as he added bulk for a move to the defensive line. During his 2003 season, Grubbs was moved from the defensive side to tight end, where he played sparingly in nine games. Grubbs changed positions again at Auburn, this time kicking inside to guard during the 2004 offseason. The Tigers went undefeated that season, with Grubbs starting all 25 games during 2004 and 2005. Grubbs capped off his Auburn career in 2006 with a first-team All-SEC selection and second-team All-American accolades. It was enough to make him the 29th overall choice in Round 1 of the 2007 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He was the only interior offensive lineman to be drafted in the opening round. Grubbs was instantly a starter on the Ravens front line, earning a spot on the 2007 All-Rookie Team. He'd play five years with the Ravens, playing in 74 of 80 games and making 70 starts. His 2011 season in Baltimore earned him the first Pro Bowl honors of his career. During free agency in 2013, Grubbs was signed by the New Orleans Saints to a five-year contract for $36 million. He played every snap at left guard for New Orleans in 2013, earning his second Pro Bowl in the process. Grubbs remained with the Saints for three seasons. Over that span, he never missed a start or even a single snap while logging over 3,300 offensive plays. During the 2015 offseason, New Orleans traded Grubbs to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a Round 5 draft choice. Grubbs would play the final season of his NFL career that year, starting seven games until a season-ending injury and getting released at the end of the year. Ben Grubbs played a total of 48 regular season games for the Saints. It is the second most for any New Orleans player that has worn the No. 66.
