The Championship class was yet again dominated by Triumph pairing of Sweden's Mickel Persson and Manxman Jamie McCanney and the PAR Homes sponsored Jack Edmondson. These three seem to have the edge on the rest of the field with the Swede winning again from his teammate with Jack third.

Arsenal get Rodrygo encouragement after Viktor Gyokeres transfer breakthrough

Arsenal are ready to spend big this summer in a bid to finally win the Premier League title again and are now stepping up their interest in two of their big name transfer targets It was always going to be a busy summer transfer window for Arsenal. And after weeks of speculation over strikers, it seems as though things are finally starting to heat up. Talks with Sporting Lisbon over a deal for Viktor Gyokeres appear to be advancing as the club close in on the quality No.9 Mikel Arteta craves. And with more deals in the pipeline, the Gunners are likely to have a few new faces in red and white when the new Premier League season kicks off next month. ‌ Kepa Arrizabalaga is already through the door with Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard likely to follow. ‌ But there is also the prospect of a deal for Eberechi Eze, while a left winger is also on the agenda with Rodrygo emerging as a top target. Here, Mirror Football round up all the latest transfer news from in and around The Emirates... Rodrygo encouragement Rodrygo's limited involvement for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup has fuelled belief that Arsenal could land the Brazilian this summer in their search for an elite left-sided forward. Rodrygo was a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti before ending the season out of favour. And while noises from Spain have suggested the 24-year-old wants to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabeu, he was an unused substitute in Los Blancos' win over Juventus in the United States. Mirror Football revealed last month that Arsenal are prepared to bide their time if they have a chance of landing Rodrygo. And as things stand, a move would seemingly not be beyond the realms of possibility. Gyokeres breakthrough ‌ Sky Sports are claiming that Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon are now in 'advanced talks' over a deal for Victor Gyokeres to swap the Portuguese Primeira Liga for the Premier League. The report adds that Arsenal are 'moving away' from a deal for their alternative target, Benjamin Sesko. Gyokeres has reportedly already agreed a five-year deal for Arsenal, who have been weighing up whether to move for the Swede or Sesko this summer. ‌ Palace make Eze stand Crystal Palace will not sell Eberechi Eze for less than the midfielder's £86million release clause, according to a new report from The Standard. Arsenal are said to be pursuing Eze in addition to a deal for a quality striker and a new left-sided forward, though Eze can play on the left. Eze's release clause dictates that the £68m needs to be paid in three instalments: one third up front, another third next summer with the final payment in 2027. But Arsenal would like to spread the cost of any deal over a longer period. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Nani makes Viktor Gyokeres prediction amid Man Utd and Arsenal transfer talks

Nani has dismissed rumours that Viktor Gyokeres could go on strike at Sporting and expects the 'professional' forward to turn up for pre-season training if he is still on the club's books. Gyokeres' future has been the subject of intense speculation on the back of a magnificent second season with Sporting, in which he scored 54 goals in 52 games to help steer the the side to a domestic double. It's understood Arsenal and Manchester United have both held talks with Gyokeres' camp with a view to bringing the 27-year-old to the Premier League, though neither club has managed to strike a deal with Sporting at this stage. Gyokeres is thought to favour a switch to the Emirates and Arsenal's sporting director, Andrea Berta, met with Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, to discuss a move for the prolific Swede last month. But the Gunners failed with an opening offer of £46.8m – plus £8.5m in add-ons – for Gyokeres and Sporting's president, Frederico Varandas, has accused Cetinkaya of 'making the situation worse' with his behaviour. While Gyokeres has a €100m (£85.1m) release clause in his contract in Lisbon, the attacker had been under the impression he could leave Sporting should the club receive an offer in the region of £59m. However, Varandas has flat-out denied the existence of a supposed gentleman's agreement with the striker's camp and this has left Gyokeres 'furious', according to some reports in Portugal. There have even been some suggestions that the former Coventry man could refuse to show up for pre-season training in order to force through a transfer to England. Asked if whether expects Gyokeres to turn up to training, ex-United and Sporting winger Nani said: 'I believe so, he is a professional. I believe he will show up. 'If he doesn't show up it's because he's going to another club.' Nani – who swapped Sporting for Old Trafford in 2007 – believes Gyokeres will continue to receive 'the right support', whether or not he moves on from the Portuguese champions this summer. 'He is a fantastic player, who has done a lot for Sporting and has several clubs interested in him,' the four-time Premier League winner added. 'He knows that there is a lot of interest and it is natural that there is some anxiety until he has his life sorted out. 'It starts to create that anxiety, but I am sure that, whether he stays or leaves, he will have the right support and will be satisfied.' Nani is confident Sporting will bring in sufficient cover for Gyokeres should the Sweden international up sticks and leave. He continued: 'If Gyokeres leaves, it was already planned and Sporting's management certainly have everything ready to replace him. 'Sporting had a very strong team with Gyokeres, but they also have other good players and will quickly bring in someone to compensate. 'I believe it will be another positive year for Sporting, in which they will play good football and win again.' While Nani remains hopeful that Gyokeres could continue his stay with Sporting, he insists he has no inside information on what is happening behind the scenes. 'If you ask me if I want him to stay, of course I do,' he explained. '€80 million is a lot of money, but I'm not the president of Sporting, I'm not the one who invested in Gyokeres and I don't know what's going on behind the scenes or what the plans were. 'Now, he's a great player and he's always worth whatever they give him. If they give him a little more, that's fair too.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. What is happening with Gyokeres after bid rejected and transfer cost clear

We bring you the latest transfer updates regarding Viktor Gyokeres' potential move to Arsenal and Manchester United, including a new breakthrough and Sporting's transfer fee demands Viktor Gyokeres has been the subject of non-stop speculation this summer as the striker continues to be linked with a transfer to Manchester United or Arsenal. The forward has caught the eye since joining Sporting CP two summers ago, where he has developed into one of the most clinical No. 9s in the world. Gyokeres ' incredible tally includes 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting on his way to winning two Primeira Liga titles. United have developed an interest in the 27-year-old, partly because of their need for a goal-scorer and partly because Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim was the man who brought the best out of Gyokeres when he signed him from Coventry City. ‌ Yet, they face fierce competition from Arsenal, who are in search of their own striker after being left with no recognised centre-forwards for the second half of last season. The Gunners have been negotiating deals for both the Swede and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko in the hope they can complete the transfer that offers the best value. ‌ While neither side has yet come in with an offer that will tempt Sporting into letting their talisman leave, it is clear that Gyokeres wants a move to the Premier League off the back of his 54-goal season. And Mirror Football now takes a look at all of the latest transfer news surrounding Gyokeres in recent days. Arsenal make ground French outlet L'Equipe delivered the bombshell news on Tuesday that Arsenal were on the verge of reaching a verbal agreement with the striker over personal terms. It was reported that the agreement would be a five-year deal. Sky Sports went one step further by claiming Arsenal and Sporting were in 'advanced talks' over a blockbuster deal. Arsenal are said to feel that the 'closing line' is now in sight after moving away from a deal for Sesko, who was courted last summer before signing a new contract with Leipzig. After negotiating at length for the Slovenian's move again this summer, the deal is now seemingly on the backburner. It is Gyokeres, rather than Sesko, who looks to be Emirates-bound, despite suggestions that Arteta and his staff preferred the latter due to his younger age and experience playing in a tougher league. Sporting president speaks out Another key character in the ongoing circus surrounding Gyokeres this summer has been Frederico Varandas. The outspoken Sporting president first took issue with a claim made by Gyokeres' agent, who said he had a gentleman's agreement in place whereby the club had promised to let the forward leave for a fee of £59m - considerably less than his £85m release clause. ‌ But Varandas has now handed Arsenal and United a potential boost by admitting there is a "strong likelihood" Gyokeres will leave the club this summer - and for a possible discounted fee - saying: "Sporting is calm regarding this matter. Secondly, Sporting does not need to sell Viktor Gyokeres. Fortunately, we have moved past the phase of selling our main asset. 'However, we remain sensitive to Viktor's dreams or those of any other athlete. Sporting has made a commitment that, after weeks of meetings, we will not demand the full amount of the clause; we will be reasonable regarding the amount requested for Viktor." Hinting at a potential new price tag, he added: 'Today, there is a strong likelihood that he will leave. I won't disclose the amount, but the player knows what it is. I can say that Viktor will not leave for 60+10m (euros). He won't leave, absolutely not. ‌ 'In recent weeks, we have been paying attention. I saw a player, [Martin] Zubimendi, who is six months younger than Viktor, go [potentially to Arsenal] for £55m, and I saw Matheus Cunha move to Manchester United for around £62.5m. "We are talking about players who are 26 years old. I believe Viktor could leave, unless he has the worst agent in the world, which I don't believe, as his agent is one of the best in the world.' Sporting bid for replacement ‌ In another boost to both Arsenal and United's hopes that Gyokeres will leave Sporting, the Portuguese champions now appear to be looking to replace him. The Lisbon club have reportedly set their sights on Union Saint-Gilloise striker Franjo Ivanovic in the past week. As reported by Sporting have lodged a bid of around £17m, which is short of the Belgian club's valuation of £25.6m. Besiktas and Frankfurt, plus teams in Italy, are also said to be interested in Ivanovic, who netted 20 goals for his side last season. Sporting landing a striker with a strong goal-scoring record for less than £30m may also help Arsenal and United in their negotiations for Gyokeres, who has been vocal in his frustrations towards the Sporting hierarchy over his price tag until now.
