
President sends letter to Japan's PM delivered by UAE Special Envoy
TOKYO (WAM) President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a written letter to Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, focusing on bilateral relations and ways to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.The letter was delivered by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and UAE Special Envoy to Japan, during a meeting on Monday at the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo. The meeting was also attended by Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, and Shihab Al Faheem, UAE Ambassador to Japan.Dr. Al Jaber conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed to the Japanese Prime Minister and expressed the UAE's wishes for Japan's continued progress and prosperity, along with his hopes for the success of Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai.Prime Minister Ishiba, in turn, conveyed his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and expressed his hopes for the UAE's continued development and growth.The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed in 2022.Dr. Al Jaber reaffirmed the UAE leadership's commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing ties to new strategic levels. He highlighted the potential for deepening collaboration across vital sectors, including economy, trade, energy, industry and advanced technology, and space—areas that support sustainable development goals in both nations.
He also noted the enduring friendship between the UAE and Japan, which dates back to before the founding of the UAE, referencing Abu Dhabi's participation in Expo 1970 in Osaka.

Arab League condemns Israel's Knesset approval of declaration to impose sovereignty over occupied West Bank
24 July 2025 23:00 CAIRO (WAM)Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the Knesset's vote yesterday on a draft law to impose Israeli control over the West Bank, which has been occupied since a statement issued on Thursday, Aboul Gheit said that the draft law is part of a continuous plan to impose a de facto reality aimed at perpetuating the occupation and annexing the occupied Palestinian affirmed that the occupation's attempts to change the legal status of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are unacceptable and have no legal basis. He emphasised that the West Bank is considered occupied territory under international law and recognised as such by the United Nations, and that the Knesset's laws will not alter this unequivocal Gheit called on the international community to firmly confront such legally invalid and morally reprehensible measures. Over Dh 774 bn in bank investments in UAE by end of April 2025: Central Bank
24 July 2025 20:38 ABU DHABI (WAM) Investments by banks operating in the UAE continued their upward trend, reaching Dh 774.3 billion by the end of April 2025. This marks a 16.2% annual increase compared to April 2024 and a 1.4% rise from March to banking indicators released by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), investments in debt securities grew to Dh 352.4 billion by the end of April. Meanwhile, securities held to maturity totalled Dh 345.8 also invested Dh 19.3 billion in stocks and Dh 56.8 billion in other investment bank credit rose to over Dh 2.259 trillion, reflecting an annual growth of 9.5%. Of this, domestic credit accounted for approximately Dh 1.881 trillion, while foreign credit reached Dh 378.3 deposits exceeded Dh 2.965 trillion, comprising Dh 2.689 trillion in resident deposits and Dh 275.6 billion in non-resident deposits. A breakdown of investments by emirate noted that Abu Dhabi banks took the lead with Dh 408.9 billion, followed by Dubai with Dh 296 billion, and other emirates with Dh 69.5 billion.
