This week, 'The Sandman' returns with its long-awaited season 2 premiere, inviting viewers back into its dark, dreamlike world. NASA eyes summer streaming liftoff on Netflix
Streaming giant Netflix said Monday it will soon allow viewers to binge rocket launches and spacewalks through a partnership with US space agency NASA. "Whether you're a die-hard space nerd or someone who just really, really enjoys seeing Earth glow from 250 miles up, the countdown has officially begun," Netflix said in a blog post announcing the new NASA+ feed. Programming will include "jaw-dropping Earth views from the International Space Station (ISS), astronaut spacewalks that make your palms sweat" and rocket launch livestreams, according to Netflix. NASA said its partnership with the entertainment company, which reported over 300 million subscribers in December, aims to "bring space a little closer to home." "Our Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience," wrote Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+. The stream is committed to "inspiring new generations -- right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone," she added. NASA+ programming will remain free of charge for viewers on the website and the agency's mobile app. Netflix announced a similar partnership with French television group TF1 earlier this month, its first such deal with a major traditional broadcaster anywhere in the world. That programming is slated to launch in summer 2026, giving Netflix subscribers in France access to five TV channels and a streaming platform. The terms of the Netflix deal were not made public, but follow in the footsteps of other partnerships to expand its content offerings. 'Quarterback' preview: Jared Goff reflects on first call with Lions after 2021 trade
Netflix released a new sneak peek at the upcoming season of "Quarterback" on Monday, featuring a snippet of Jared Goff talking about his warm welcome with the Detroit Lions. "This is what it feels like to truly be wanted and to have these guys behind you," Goff said. The clip posted on Monday on Instagram features commentary from Goff, head coach Dan Campbell, and general manager Brad Holmes talking about the initial conversations the three had when Goff knew he was coming to Detroit in 2021. The Los Angeles Rams traded Goff, a 2022 first-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2021 third-round pick to the Lions for Matthew Stafford. "I answer the phone and Brad sounds like he's out of breath," Goff said. "And you know, he's "Jared! Thank God we got you on the phone. We're so excited to have you here.'" Holmes called the opportunity to get Goff in the trade a "no-brainer," saying they needed someone as resilient as Goff for the struggles they were about to go through that upcoming season. The Lions finished that season 3-13-1. "I remember the call and I remember my excitement, and I just wanted to make sure he understood how excited we were -- how excited I was," Campbell said. "'You're going to be part of the foundation... You're ours. You're going to belong with us.'" Goff has led the Lions to back-to-back NFC North championships and the team's first playoff win in three decades. The new season of "Quarterback," featuring Goff, Joe Burrow, and Kirk Cousins releases July 8.
