Why Tom Cruise Really Screamed at Mission: Impossible 7 Crew

Ever since the leaked audio of outburst on the sets of went viral, fans have been divided on the veteran actor blatantly yelling at his crew. However, a whopping five years after the clip made its way onto the internet, director Christopher McQuarrie has come out to provide context to the situation, all the while defending his lead actor's actions.
In a recent discussion, the veteran director noted the reason behind the Top Gun actor's explosive reaction in the leaked audio. It was due to some of the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One crew members constantly breaking social distancing rules on set, despite the severity of the rapidly spreading coronavirus at the time.
While recently speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Christopher McQuarrie provided insight into the arduous process of filming two movies against the backdrop of the COVID-19 outbreak. He shared, '[When you] factor in a pandemic and two industry strikes, what should have been a two and a half year process for both movies stretched onto seven years.
The Jack Reacher director then revealed that Tom Cruise was actually addressing only five people in the leaked audio. He then explained how 'two of the people there were people who had been specifically tasked with the health and safety of our crew and had repeatedly not lived up to that responsibility.'
Additionally, Cruise's outburst came after 30 minutes of trying to get his point across regarding the importance of meeting the required health protocols on a project that had already consumed a significant amount of time and money.
'The person who is raising his voice is quite literally going to work every day and risking his life for a very expressed purpose of keeping the industry alive,' McQuarrie added. He further backed Tom Cruise's way of handling things in the leaked audio. McQuarrie stated, 'That was not a guy pissed off because his latte was cold… He was on the phone every night fighting the good fight to keep things going, to keep things alive. I watched him will that into existence.'

Joe Rogan sounds the alarm on dangerous social media trend

Joe Rogan is one of the most popular podcasters in the world, so much so that Spotify recently paid him $250 million to renew his contract. His show, The Joe Rogan Experience, actually has a whopping 19.4 million subscribers and has been viewed more than three billion times, according to On The Fly. One reason why Rogan is so popular is that he has a diverse array of guests, from Donald Trump to Bernie Sanders to Mike Tyson, Edward Snowden, and Lance Armstrong. His guests come from all walks of life, and his hours-long podcast gives Rogan and his visitors the chance to touch upon a wide mix of important issues. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Rogan also pulls no punches, sharing his opinions even when they are controversial, disagreeing with guests when they're not on the same page, and tackling some of the most important issues of the day. Recently, for example, Rogan had some very strong words to share about a very alarming social media trend. In fact, Rogan is so disturbed by this troubling trend that he believes if things continue going the way they are on popular social media networks, it could be the end of the world as we know it. On Joe Rogan's 167th show with Cory Sandhagen, a professional mixed martial artist, Rogan told Sandhagen about one of his greatest fears related to social media. His fear was related to a troubling trend that he said Elon Musk gave him some inside info about. "I'm friends with Elon. I knew what was going on in Twitter behind the scenes. I knew how the government was stepping in and silencing posts. I'm like, this is f*king dangerous, man," Rogan said. Related: Joe Rogan shuts down Bernie Sanders' attack on Elon Musk Rogan was specifically speaking of the censorship that he believes was going on with with previous administration, and he gave a number of examples that he found particularly troubling. "If they get a real grip on social media and you no longer can protest about things and express yourself about things, including a lot of things that happen to be true, like during the COVID crisis, people are getting their accounts banned for posting factual information. Yeah. That was scary to me because that's very, very un-American," Rogan said. (The idea that the President Joe Biden administration was interfering with social media posts remains an unproven conspiracy theory). Since Rogan endorsed President Donald Trump in the last action, it's easy to assume that his concern his a partisan one. However, surprisingly, his fears about the troubling social media trend are not specific to lawmakers on one side or the other, and he's not simply afraid of those on the left having control over social media. His fears are much broader than that. "You know, but the problem is then, what if the f*ing right gets in place and they use the same rules that you used on them? Now we don't have a country anymore. Now we're f*ed. Now we're just like every other dictatorship." Related: Joe Rogan sends blunt one-word message on minimum wage Rogan also made very clear that action needs to be taken to make sure that his fears don't become a reality. "We need to stop these fascists or whatever we want to call them." While he doesn't provide specifics on exactly how he believes that we should do that, it's very clear that Rogan isn't a fan of censorship from either side. And, knowing the renowned podcast host, he's likely to speak out on his show whenever he sees it happening. I Can't Get Enough Of Tom Cruise Honoring Days Of Thunder As Jerry Bruckheimer's New Racing Movie Premieres

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. F1 finally roared into theaters this weekend, and the Joseph Kosinski-helmed movie features high-octane action and a charismatic performance from lead actor Brad Pitt. Wildly enough, this 2025 movie schedule blockbuster opened on the exact same day that Tom Cruise's Days of Thunder hit cinemas decades ago. The two films also have something else in common (other than the fact that they're about racing). Both are produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and I'm loving that Cruise honored his colleague and both films. Days of Thunder opened in 1990, which means we've just hit its 35th anniversary. To this day, the sports movie remains one of the signature titles in Tom Cruise's filmography, and he seems to have much affection for it. Such a notion was evidenced by the fact that Cruise took to Instagram on June 27 to share some cool BTS photos from his time making the classic film. The veteran actor also penned a warm tribute in which he reflected on production and shouted out the F1 team: I always love the fun and adrenaline of a racing film. Today marks two racing milestones for my friend Jerry Bruckheimer, the release of F1 and the 35 year anniversary to the day of our collaboration with the great Tony Scott on Days of Thunder. Incredible to look back on this film today, and congratulations to Jerry, Brad, Joe and the whole F1 team on their release! At the time of its release, Tony Scott's beloved racing film received mixed reviews. However, many have seemingly warmed up to it in the years since it hit theaters. The late Scott made great use of special effects in order to provide an exciting depiction of NASCAR racing. As a film buff, I love seeing the behind-the-scenes photos that Tom Cruise dropped on social media. The snapshot with the camera rig on the car, in particular, is a sweet example of how Scott was trying to push the boundaries of filmmaking at that point. More on Days of Thunder I Recently Watched Days Of Thunder For The First Time, And I Didn't Get Why Tom Cruise Would Choose It To Usher Him Into His Sequel Era – Until Now Likewise, Joseph Kosinski, Jerry Bruckheimer and Brad Pitt were also trying to push technical-based boundaries with their own racing movie. Formula 1 fans could certainly argue that F1 isn't always realistic, even if the racing sequences are breathtaking. However, I'd argue that there are still a lot of cool filmmaking techniques at play, which makes the production worthy of at least some admiration. On that note, F1 received praise from some critics in that regard. Jerry Bruckheimer should be proud, considering what he and his colleagues have accomplished and, per reports, he's not done with the world of racing just yet. A Days of Thunder sequel is reportedly in the works, and it's already sparking interest from NASCAR veterans. Details on the project are scarce at the moment, but sources indicate that Tom Cruise is down to reprise his role as Cole Trickle. Paramount Plus: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a yearTom Cruise fans should hit up Paramount+ for Days of Thunder, Top Gun and the star's other great movies. Grab the Essential plan or go the ad-free route. A larger content catalog is available with Showtime through the Premium plan, which starts from $12.99 a month. Also, get 12 months for the price of 10 using the annual Deal I look forward to seeing what happens on that front, and I'm wondering how the team can possibly match or top what's presented in Joseph Kosinski's latest flick. Of course, unlike a race, this doesn't seem to be a competition. Tom Cruise is clearly excited for the release of this latest racecar movie as he is passionate about the flick he made over 30 years ago. Check out F1, which is playing in theaters nationwide now! Also, those who'd like to stream Days of Thunder can do so using a Paramount+ subscription.

Israeli court postpones Netanyahu's corruption trial after Trump calls for case to be dropped

The Jerusalem District Court agreed to postpone Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial — just hours after President Trump called for the case to be dropped while suggesting American aid could hang in the balance over the decision. The court revealed Sunday that Netanyahu will not have to testify for the next two weeks due to diplomatic and national security issues, two days after the judge initially rejected the premier's repeated requests to have the trial delayed. The new order came after Trump took to Truth Social and slammed the corruption trial — which sees Netanyahu accused of bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three separate cases — as a 'political witch hunt.' 4 President Trump called on Israel to drop the corruption charges against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. AP Advertisement 4 Trump claimed the trial would interfere with cease-fire efforts in Gaza and the truce with Iran, warning that America could stop flowing aid to Israel if the case proceeds. AP 'It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu,' Trump wrote. 'He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran.' 'The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this,' he warned. Advertisement Trump also claimed that having Netanyahu occupied with the case would interfere with cease-fire and hostage release efforts in Gaza, as well as the fragile truce with Iran. 'Thank you again, @realDonaldTrump. Together, we will make the Middle East Great Again!' Netanyahu replied. 4 Netanyahu's trial has gone on for four years and has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the wars with Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. AP 4 Netanyahu maintains that the war will not end in Gaza until Hamas is eliminated, a goal he has previously claimed supersedes the safe return of the hostages and humanitarian aid to Gaza. REUTERS Advertisement A White House official said Trump identified with Netanyahu and made the personal decision to back the embattled prime minister during the ride back from the NATO summit last week, Axios reported. The latest delay to the trial, which has stretched on for four years, has led to many Israeli officials condemning the prime minister for allegedly using his executive powers to stall the case. The leader of the opposition Democrats party, Yair Golan, said Trump's proposal shows how prolonging the war in Gaza personally benefits Netanyahu, who has refused to end the fighting until the terror group is completely eliminated — a goal with no set timeline. Advertisement 'Trump's proposal proves: The hostages are held by Hamas, but they are captive to Netanyahu's interests,' Golan wrote on X. Netanyahu stands accused of accepting more than $200,000 from wealthy businessmen and granting hundreds of millions of dollars worth of regulatory benefits to a telecom owner in exchange for favorable news coverage.
