Gabriel ‘Fluffy' Iglesias is set to return to the stage at the Peoria Civic Center
Iglesias, who is also known by the nickname 'Fluffy,' has added Peoria for one of the stops on his most recent tour, The 1976 Tour: A Fluffy Celebration on Oct. 18, the civic center said in a Facebook post.
Iglesias is one of the world's most successful stand-up comedians and one of the highest-grossing touring comedians of all time. He is one of the most watched comedians on YouTube, with over 2 billion views and over 34.6 million fans across social media. He was the 3rd highest-grossing comedian of 2024 according to Billboard,' Kelsy Martin, a civic center spokeswoman, said.
He has also been named the Hollywood Reporter's 'Top 40 Comedy Players,' joining the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Lorne Michaels, she said.
Iglesias stars in the Netflix series Mr. Iglesias, where he is a high school teacher and has released four stand-up specials with the streaming platform, she said.
'We're thrilled to welcome Gabriel Iglesias back to the Peoria Civic Center. Comedy continues to be a very strong portion of our event calendar thanks to talent like Mr. Iglesias,' Martin said. 'He's one of many comedians who we've seen sell out shows in our Theater and are now continuing to have fantastic turnouts in our Arena as well. These success shows continue to put Peoria on the map and make Peoria Civic Center a must-play tour stop.'
To put a topper on all he has accomplished, on March 11, 2025, he received his own handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater, which recognized his impressive career, she said.
Tickets will go on sale through the PCC Insider Presale at noon on Wednesday, June 4, and for the general public at noon on Friday, June 6, and can be purchased here, the post said.

Jackie and Shadow's eaglets at risk from Fourth of July fireworks, petition says
The California group that oversees a famous eagle family is warning officials about the danger fireworks could cause the new eaglets ahead of Fourth of July. Nonprofit organization Friends of Big Bear Valley, which runs a 24-hour live feed monitoring the eagles, expressed concerns about an upcoming fireworks display in Big Bear Lake, California. In a Facebook post Monday, June 30, the group emphasized the impact that fireworks have on the environment and wildlife, including sister eaglets Gizmo and Sunny and their parents Jackie and Shadow. The organization also highlighted a petition with more than 30,000 signatures calling for the outright cancelation of the July 4 firework show to protect the family and other wildlife. "The loud and frightening explosions of fireworks can spook [eagles], causing them to flee their nests, potentially into situations fraught with danger," the petition said. "This not only jeopardizes their immediate safety but could also lead to them leaving the area permanently, which would be a tragic loss for our community." The Friends of Big Bear Valley explained that Sunny and Gizmo are specifically at risk after just learning to fly. "Shadow and Jackie leaving at this time of training and growth for Sunny and Gizmo could be especially devastating to the juveniles' long and short-term development and chances of survival," Friends of Big Bear Valley wrote on Facebook. "Eagles and especially juveniles have very poor night vision and being startled into flight at night is very dangerous." Their petition added that eagles don't naturally fly after dark. "We will be holding high hope for the safety of Jackie, Shadow, Sunny and Gizmo and all the rest of nature's beautiful creatures," Friends of Big Bear Valley wrote. "Please join me in hoping for their safety and protection." Firework show to continue amid concerns Despite concerns for wildlife, Visit Big Bear will continue to host its 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in the city. Visit Big Bear CEO Travis Scott emphasized that its role is to balance and prioritize tradition, community celebration, wildlife stewardship and the tourism-driven local economy "The board looked at what that firework show [brought] to support our local businesses, our restaurants, our lodging and just overall jobs in our community," Scott told the Palm Desert Sun, part of the USA TODAY Network. The town generally attracts 100,000 visitors for the Fourth of July and numerous community organizations are involved in the 4th of July Spectacular, according to Scott. He added that local partners and government agencies help organize the fireworks shows with "wildlife and fire safety in mind." "What makes Big Bear Lake a special place is our rich, diverse ecosystem and obviously our resident bald eagles have become the iconic symbol of that," Scott said. "What our organization strives to look at is that they're a part of a larger natural balance that we work hard to respect year-round and we do promote environmental education and stewardship and that is also very important to us. The co-existence of the fireworks and the eagles is not a new phenomenon." Scott described two previous instances in which he said they've worked with Friends of Big Bear Valley: Canceling Memorial Day fireworks in 2022 and doing a drone show instead of fireworks for Labor Day in 2023. "I believe that the board and the community will take these concerns that are presented from outside our community under advisement," Scott said in response to whether any changes would be made to future fireworks displays in the area. Jackie and Shadow disappeared for days in previous years Friends of Big Bear Valley attached a presentation to their Facebook post that documented previous instances of how the eagles have responded to fireworks. Following Fourth of July fireworks in 2022, Jackie and Shadow weren't seen or heard for six days. The mating pair were also not seen or heard for three days after Fourth of July fireworks the following year, according to Friends of Big Bear Valley. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service echoed Friends of Big Bear Valley over how fireworks can cause wildlife to flee, "ending up in unexpected areas or roadways, flying into buildings and other obstacles." Who are Sunny and Gizmo? Sunny and Gizmo were two of three hatchlings born to Jackie and Shadow in March 2025. A third eaglet, named Misty in honor of a former volunteer, died after a snowstorm hit the area. But Jackie and Shadow have been able to make sure Sunny and Gizmo are healthy and happy. Ohio State football players well-represented at top end of 'College Football 26' ratings
We continue to count down to the release of EA Sports' "College Football 26," the second-year reboot of the popular college football video game franchise. Those who purchase the Deluxe Edition will have early access on July 7, with everyone being able to gain access on July 10. Leading up to that, EA Sports has been releasing some information about the game that's sure to become a staple of many college football fans. One of those things the game-maker is sending out on social media is some of the ratings of the teams and players. We already know that Jeremiah Smith is the highest-rated player in the game, and that Ohio State is ranked as the third-best team you can play with, but on Tuesday, EA Sports released some of the top-end rankings of other players. Included were the top ten ranked offensive players, and yeah, Smith was on top of that list. However, instead of the original screenshot of him being an overall 99, it now appears as though the superstar wideout is an overall "98." There aren't any other OSU players among the top ten on the offensive side, and only one other Big Ten player, Penn State Nicholas Singleton, who barely made the cut as the No. 10 rated offensive player with an overall 93. Alabama receiver -- who just so happens to be with Smith on the cover of the game -- is the second best player with an overall rating of 96. But wait. Not only does Ohio State have the highest-rated offensive player, it also has the best defensive player in the game, with safety Caleb Downs ranking No. 1 with an overall rating of 96. Like the offensive side, Downs is the only OSU defensive player in the top ten and just one of two Big Ten players with Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman coming in at No. 10 with an overall rating of 93. In addition to sharing the top ten on both sides of the ball, EA Sports also released the top five by position, and one other Buckeye made those lists with transfer tight end Max Klare checking in as the No. 3 tight end in the game with an overall rating of 91. We'll have a further breakdown of Ohio State players when the complete list of ratings is released by EA Sports. That should be an interesting look at what the game believes about OSU's roster for the 2025 season. For now, though, somewhat unsurprisingly, the Buckeyes are well-represented at the top of what the game has to offer. When he started boxing, he was seen largely as a novelty act who didn't face serious fighters. As of Monday night, however, Paul is ranked by the World Boxing Assn. And as impossible as it may have sounded in the not-so-distant past, that makes him eligible to fight for a world title. Advertisement "I've worked hard to get here but there is nothing to celebrate," Paul wrote on X after the WBA listed him at No. 14 in the latest edition of its cruiserweight rankings. "Long road ahead and I'm more committed to it every single day. I may veer off the path now and again, but being a world champion is my desired ultimate destination." The ranking came days after Paul's victory by unanimous decision over former middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr., the most accomplished opponent the former Disney Channel "Bizaardvark" star has faced en route to a 12-1 record with 7 knockouts in a boxing career that has spanned less than seven years. Advertisement Paul's only loss came in 2023 against Tommy Fury, a professional boxer and reality TV star. He reflected on that fight Saturday night after his win over Chávez. 'I don't think I was a fighter at the time," Paul told reporters. "I was barely 2½ years into the sport. I didn't really know what I was doing. I didn't have the right equipment around me, the right conditioning. My lifestyle outside of the ring was still like that of a YouTuber, a famous actor or whatever it was at that point in time. I wasn't completely focused on boxing. '... People still hold the Tommy Fury fight against me, but now I've beaten a former world champion and I'm coming to collect on that loss to Tommy.'
