2-Time NBA Champion with Warriors signs deal to play in rising international league
Some players, like Kevin Durant and Klay, are now playing for rival Western Conference teams. Others like Andrew Bogut, Leandro Barbosa, and Shaun Livingston are long retired.
One Warriors champion is still playing, but has left the NBA to play overseas. JaVale McGee, who played two seasons with the Warriors, grabbing two championships as a key role player, is headed to Australia to play in the NBL.
ESPN reported that McGee signed a one-year deal with the Illawarra Hawks of the NBL.
McGee's last season in the NBA was during the 2023-24 season. He played 46 games for the Sacramento Kings. During that season, he only averaged 4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. It was clear that McGee's time in the NBA was close to an end.
Now, McGee will try to make a big impact in an international league that is on the rise. Montrezl Harrell and Dylan Windler are the two most prominent former NBA players in the league. The NBL has recently been a pipeline for some NBA draft picks, but now it seems that it is becoming a spot for former NBA players to continue their basketball careers.

Warriors fans should be happy for JaVale. He was a great addition to the Warriors' championship teams, and while he might not have enough to still play in the NBA, the fact that he is still playing the game he loves is great news.

"These were four of the NBA's bottom six teams in the standings last season, and they have the four lowest over/under totals for the 2025-26 season at ESPN BET," the ESPN duo wrote when describing why each team was in the category. "Still, all of these teams are probably at least a season away from competing for a playoff spot, and they'd love to add another top pick first." As this relates to the Nets, this statement rings true in the sense that Brooklyn does not yet have a player on the roster that is currently considered to be an All-Star at some point in their career. The Nets will enter the 2025-26 season as one of the youngest teams in the league due to the amount of youth on the roster, but the hope is that guard Egor Demin, who was taken eighth overall by Brooklyn, can realize his potential sooner rather than later. As of this writing, BetMGM gives the Nets an over/under of 20.5 wins over the course of the 2025-26 regular season, meaning that the Las Vegas betting market could be expecting another tough season for Brooklyn. With the 2026 NBA Draft expected to boast premium talent such as AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson, the Nets could be best served to keep the future in the forefront of their mind.

The sports media world received a particularly interesting update about the future of the hit podcast Pablo Torre Finds Out on Tuesday morning. Additionally, the Athletic signed a deal for the independent podcast Sports Gossip Show. 'This is the single best way for us to go out and reach millions of more sports fans,' said Sebastian Tomich, chief commercial and development officer at the Athletic, in an interview. 'Absent us unlocking many millions in a giant brand campaign, developing new shows and series like that with Pablo is the best way.' Dan Le Batard, co-founder of the network that produces Torre's podcast, posted on social media about the news. This is part of what he said in the video: "We were all able to create the future of sports journalism, the future of sports podcasting ... All parties involved what used to be HBO's Real Sports, what used to be Outside the Lines, real traditional sports journalism." TNT Sports to show England's 2025-26 Ashes series in Australia
TNT Sports will show the men's Ashes series this winter after striking a one-year deal with Cricket Australia. England head Down Under looking to end Australia's grip on the urn, which they have held since 2018. It follows a thrilling contest with India, which culminated in a six-run fifth-Test win and 2-2 series draw at The Oval on Monday.
