S.F. comedian calls Ellen DeGeneres ‘a mean girl' after detailing strained relationship

Margaret Cho recently opened up about long-running tensions with fellow comic Ellen DeGeneres, describing a strained dynamic that dates back to their early days in stand-up during the 1980s.
'Ellen was really weird and not nice to me for most of my career,' the San Francisco-born comedian revealed during an appearance on ' The Kelly Mantle Show ' podcast. 'She was like a mean girl.'
DeGeneres, who rose to mainstream fame for her on-screen generosity and positivity on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' recently retired from the public eye after being accused of fostering a toxic workplace and mistreating staff. Her Primetime Emmy Award-winning talk show was canceled in May 2022 after 19 seasons, following an internal review and departure of several producers.
Cho, reflecting on her own experiences, now confirms those reports weren't just tabloid drama.
'I opened for her in the 1980s, when she was a headliner in comedy clubs and way before her big fame. So then later, when I would do her talk show in the 2000s, she acted like we just met and I'm like, 'Bitch, what?'' Cho recalled during the episode, which was released on Wednesday, June 18. 'Like, that's weird. We go way back. It's so creepy and weird.'
Cho also said she learned from a friend, a producer on 'The Ellen DeGeneres' show, that David Bowie had praised her and her fashion choices during an appearance on the show, but that moment never aired because DeGeneres allegedly had it removed from the final edit.
'She cut it out of the show, which made me so mad,' Cho said. 'I don't know if it was personal. Maybe it was for time. But still, I'm going to take it personally.'
'I think she always had kind of negative feelings towards me because her girlfriends and wives always liked me,' Cho, who identifies as queer, said.
Before stepping out of the spotlight entirely, DeGeneres set out on a farewell stand-up tour last year, which included several Bay Area dates. During the shows, the comic reflected on being labeled the 'most hated person in America' and spoke candidly about how 'devastating' it was to fall so sharply from public favor.
But Cho says 'the public perception is more true' than DeGeneres's carefully crafted image ever was.
For her part, Cho has gone on to have a successful comedy and acting career, and has recently expanded her talents. In January, she smashed her ' Celebrity Jeopardy! ' debut, earning a quarterfinal victory after two Daily Double wagers. She wound up securing $54,100 for her charity of choice, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit Friendly House, which assists women recovering from substance abuse.
Cho lost the subsequent semifinal game to East Bay comic W. Kamau Bell, who won the tournament and donated a portion of his $1 million winnings to Oakland schools.

Beyoncé pauses show after flying car malfunctions, tilts during Night 1 in Houston

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter delivered a groundbreaking kickoff concert in Houston for her "Cowboy Carter" tour — powering through a technical difficulty that left her suspended midair, without missing a beat. The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her first concert in her hometown of Houston at NRG Stadium June 28 at 7:50 p.m. local time. The show marked her first Southern stop on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. She is set to hit the stage one more night on June 29. Toward the end of Saturday's performance, as Beyoncé sang her hit single '16 Carriages' while soaring in a red car, a technical glitch caused the vehicle to tilt midair. She briefly paused the show telling everyone to "stop" repeatedly, before being safely lowered and landing the car among the audience. There were no injuries. A post shared by Eden🐘🌺 (@cozycarters) Shortly after, she returned to the stage cool, calm and collected. She joked, 'if I ever fall, I know y'all will catch me,' before carrying on with the show and closing it out as usual. During her Paris shows, she shocked fans when she brought out Miley Cyus and husband Jay-Z for surprise performances on the first and last night. Of course, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with a 39-song set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. And the H-town opener show was no different. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26. Method Man Flexes His Muscles At Concert, Sends Lady Fans Into A Frenzy

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Method Man sent the internet into a frenzy on June 26, when the rapper appeared on the Love B. Scott Instagram page lifting his shirt for a crowd of rowdy fans. The hip-hop icon was performing onstage for a recent stop on the 'Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber tour' when he flashed a glimpse of his perfectly sculpted body for the crowd, sending the audience crazy. Ladies on social media were hot and bothered too, as they couldn't get enough of seeing the rapper's impeccable abs and pecs in the short but sweltering clip. 'I've already rewatched this at least 69 times!' Dr. Catrise Austin-Veneer penned in the comments section. Another user mentioned that the 54-year-old rapper was 'always the fiiione one' out of his Wu-Tang entourage. A third fan simply penned, 'Daaaamn!' While Method Man may be admired by fans for his chiseled physique, fitness holds a much deeper meaning for the Grammy-winning rapper. In a 2020 interview with Men's Health , Clifford Smith—his real name—revealed that his commitment to working out began as a way to combat a severe bout of insomnia. What started as a health necessity has since evolved into a disciplined daily routine that he's maintained ever since. His typical workout begins with a warm-up of wide-grip pull-ups and close-grip chin-ups, followed by an intense strength-training session that includes deadlifts, bent-over rows, seated cable rows, straight-arm pulldowns, weighted neck extensions, and core-focused exercises like ab rollouts and cable crunches. For Method Man, fitness isn't just about looks—it's about mental clarity, consistency, and overall well-being. 'My goal is to get to a point where I can take my shirt off in any setting, basically be the Rock without the tattoos and the movie accolades,' the Hempstead native told the outlet at the time. Well, mission accomplished, Mr. Man! Method Man's dedication to health and fitness has fueled a creative resurgence, giving him the energy to dive into a wave of new music and film projects as of late. In May, he starred alongside Kyra Sedgwick in Bad Shabbos , a Tribeca award-winning comedy that marked a major leading role for the rapper-turned-actor. Just a month later, he dropped a new track titled 'Ricky Bobby' with Rome Streetz and Conductor Williams, proof that Method Man is still at the top of his game, both in the studio and on screen. The Oscar-winning thespian set her social media page ablaze yesterday with a video of herself dancing carefree in a bikini to her boyfriend Van Hunt's latest EP, A Heart Full of Questions . Effortlessly chic and ultra-confident, Berry showcased her sleek moves in an itty-bitty white bikini and white sunglasses, which provided a full view of her toned body. Not only did this video show her admiration for her boo's music, but it also proved that age ain't nothing but a number. Our girl is drinking from the fountain of youth, loving her man out loud, and redefining what it means to be timeless. Looking like a complete meal, Berry let the music take over as she moved her hips from side to side, tossed her hair to and fro, playfully flirted with the camera (or cameraman), and even chomped on some fruit during the ordeal. The video, filmed in a space that overlooked a breathtaking ocean view, was a blend of playful, sexy, and unbothered-ness that we couldn't get enough of. It instantly became a fan favorite, racking up likes and comments from followers and celebrities alike who couldn't get enough of her ageless glow and contagious energy. 'You're having fun living this life & that's all that matters @halleberry 👏👏👏,' admired one fan. While another follower captured the video perfectly in their caption, 'The sexiest thing a woman can do is live her life happily and freely.' The Never Let Go actress closed the adorable video with a funny clip of her losing her bikini bottoms, but, of course, we couldn't see the goods. Beyond just a viral moment, the clip is a joyful celebration of self-love, body positivity, and romance. At 58, Berry is showing the world that confidence isn't tied to age and that when you're vibing to your partner's music, life hits a little sweeter. Goals!
