Xavier basketball product Zach Freemantle shines in NBA pre-draft event
In April 2024, Zach Freemantle announced he would use his extra year of eligibility to return to Xavier.
One year later, after wrapping up his college career with the Musketeers with a second-team all-Big East nod and an NCAA Tournament berth, Freemantle is now trying to extend his basketball career to the professional level.

Zach Freemantle (32) averaged 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his final season at Xavier, helping lead the Musketeers to the NCAA Tournament.
Over the weekend, the 71st annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) took place at Churchland High School in Virginia. The event, which features 64 seniors split up into eight teams, included Freemantle on the K&D Rounds squad.
Freemantle was teamed up with Dayton standout Nate Santos.
Freemantle helped lead K&D Rounds to a pair of wins before a six-point loss in the final.

In three games, Freemantle combined for 45 points, 19 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 blocks and 3 assists. Freemantle shot 19-of-26 form the floor and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. He tallied a team-high 23 points (11-of-14 shooting) in the loss to Jani King in the championship game.

Freemantle was named to the event's all-tournament team.
Zach Freemantle college career with Xavier Musketeers
Freemantle battled a slew of injuries over his six-season collegiate career at Xavier. In 136 total games, Freemantle made 107 starts and averaged 12.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per night.
In Xavier's first-round Big East Tournament loss to Marquette in March, Freemantle became the fourth Xavier player to rank top 10 all-time in scoring and rebounding, joining David West, Romain Sato and Tyrone Hill.
Freemantle also played in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Reese's Division I College All-Star Game at the Final Four in San Antionio earlier this month.

The 2025 NBA Draft will be held from June 25-26 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

They certainly have built a roster capable of winning a World Series title. Mullins should help them out in center field as well. The NL East will be a tight race down the stretch. West Key Additions: RP Brock Stewart, OF Alex Call The Dodgers did just enough to get by at the deadline as they did not want to overpay for players. Bringing in Stewart will help solidify the bullpen while Call's production can lead to him taking Michael Conforto's spot in left field. However, Los Angeles did far from enough to win the division. Wild Card 2: Philadelphia Phillies -- N.L. East Key Additions: RP Jhoan Duran, OF Harrison Bader Just like the Mets, the Phillies needed bullpen and outfield help. Duran is their big prize as he was arguably the best reliever available. Dave Dombrowski did well there to get him. Bader will be an upgrade over Max Kepler, but it still may not be enough to complement Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. Wild Card 3: Milwaukee Brewers -- N.L. Central Key Additions: RP Shelby Miller, SP Jordan Montgomery The Brewers are going to rely on much of their current team to get into the playoffs. Miller will help in the bullpen, and Montgomery can be utilized as needed. Central Key Additions: RP Kyle Finnegan, SP Chris Paddack, SP Charlie Morton The Tigers needed pitching, and they got a lot of it with the highlight being closer Kyle Finnegan. Detroit knew it needed a shutdown reliever to have any chance of success. Outside of the three names mentioned, none of the acquisitions move the needle much, resulting in a third place finish for the Tigers. Wild Card 1: Seattle Mariners -- A.L. West Key Additions: INF Josh Naylor, INF Eugenio Suárez, RP Caleb Ferguson Seattle grabbed two of the best bats on the market at the deadline in two separate deals, and very few teams had a better deadline than the Mariners. This was a pitching-heavy roster, and Jerry Dipoto went out and got strong bats. If the lineup gets hot, the Mariners could challenge the Astros for the A.L. West crown. Wild Card 2: New York Yankees -- A.L. East Key Additions: RP David Bednar, INF Ryan McMahon, RP Camilo Doval This is the first year the Yankees had multiple needs at the trade deadline, and the Bronx Bombers brought in multiple relievers. However, they took the quantity over quality approach aside from David Bednar, and it's tough to be sold on McMahon over at third base. The glove plays well, but the bat is questionable. Wild Card 3: Boston Red Sox -- A.L. East Key Additions: SP Dustin May, LHP Steven Matz The Red Sox sneak into the playoffs in this scenario for one reason and one reason only: starting pitching. A front three of Garrett Crochet, Brayan Bello and Dustin May will put the team in position to win almost every time they take the hill.
