Revanth for Delhi today to garner MPs' support for 42% BC quota
As part of bolstering the support for the BC reservation in view of 'Chalo Delhi' on July 25, he will be meeting party seniors and MPs from INDI bloc. Along with the CM, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikarmarka will also be visiting the national capital. Both will be meeting Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to brief them about the report on caste census of the State, which was submitted by the expert committee recently.
Telangana Congress MPs Convener Mallu Ravi informed the media on Monday in Delhi that CM and Deputy CM will meet Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi and will explain to them the caste census and 42% reservation for BCs undertaken in the state and will accept their suggestions and recommendations. During evening hours CM Revanth will give a powerpoint presentation to all Congress MPs in the country at Indira Bhavan on caste census and BC reservations. He said that he will request a discussion in Parliament on 42% reservation for BCs.
It may be mentioned here that in March 2025, the Telangana Assembly passed two bills, the Telangana Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (reservation of seats in educational institutions and of appointments or posts in services under the State) Bill 2025 and The Telangana Backward Classes (Reservation of seats in Rural and Urban Local Bodies) Bill 2025, in the Assembly.
These bills were then sent to the Centre for constitutional amendments. The Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma, forwarded the bills to President Droupadi Murmu for consideration.
Recently, the Telangana cabinet decided to proceed with an ordinance to implement the 42% reservation for the upcoming local body elections. The state government justified this increase by citing the results of a recent caste census, which indicated that BCs constitute 56% of Telangana's population. The ordinance intends to amend the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018, which currently caps reservations at 50%.

Bhatti takes stock of flood prep in Khammam, Kothagudem districts
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu reviewed the flood conditions during the current monsoon season with district officials from Khammam and Kothagudem. The meeting, held on Sunday, focused on the need for alertness, the provision of relief measures for affected individuals, welfare schemes, and the establishment of additional emergency facilities. Attendees included Khammam District In-charge Minister Vakati Srihari, Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, as well as district Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and other public representatives. The Deputy Chief Minister assured that solar pump sets, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems, and horticultural crops would be provided free of charge to farmers under the ROFR Act through the Indira Giri Jal Vikasam scheme, with a total expenditure of Rs 12,600 crore planned over three years. However, it was noted that some MLAs are delaying the submission of proposals for Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Panchayat Raj roads. Officials were directed to provide information regarding the number of plants planted over the last ten years, the costs associated with planting them, and the survival rate of those plants. In a major panchayat, detail the number of plants planted in the past ten years, the costs incurred, the survival rate, and the steps that should be taken to ensure their survival. A complete study should be conducted as part of a pilot project, with all relevant details provided. On the education front, he highlighted the need for integrated schools to be established on 25 acres, with all integrated schools serving as role models. Welfare and Gurukul students should receive meals according to a set menu, with no compromises on quality. Additionally, continuous medical check-ups should be conducted for students throughout the rainy season.

Bandi sanjay slams Cong govt over BC Declaration
Hyderabad: UnionMinister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar stirred a major controversy on Sunday after launching a direct attack on the Telangana Congress government, accusing it of introducing a 'Muslim Declaration Bill' under the guise of a Backward Classes (BC) Declaration. Speaking to the media after inaugurating the Central government-funded 'Critical Care Block' at Karimnagar District Main Hospital, Bandi Sanjay claimed the state government's reservation proposals unfairly favor Muslims at the expense of BCs and Hindus. 'Under the so-called BC Declaration, 27 percent reservations are being implemented for BCs, and an additional 5 percent is supposedly for BCs, but out of that, 10 percent is indirectly being granted to Muslims. Effectively, the Congress is making a 100 percent reservation for Muslims in Telangana in the name of the BC Declaration. This is not a BC Declaration, it is a Muslim Declaration,' asserted Bandi Sanjay. He further alleged there was a wider 'conspiracy' to turn Hindus into a minority in Telangana, warning that if what he called this 'poisonous tree' was left unchecked, it could spread across India. Minister Bandi Sanjay firmly stated he would oppose the bill unless Muslims were removed from the BC category and demanded that full 42 percent reservations go only to BCs. 'I will convince the Centre to approve the bill only after Muslims are excluded from the BC list,' he insisted. In a political challenge, Bandi Sanjay referred to claims that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would merge with the BJP if cases against K. Kavitha were filed, stating the proposal by K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) before CM Ramesh was 'absolutely true' and daring KTR to a public debate. 'If you have the courage, let's discuss in front of everyone and see who is right,' he challenged. On the hospital's new Critical Care Block, Sanjay emphasized that the entire Rs 23.75 crore funding came from the Centre's PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM ABHIM). He pressed the state government to quickly appoint medical staff and allocate operational funds, warning of adverse effects on patient care due to poor state support. He presented budget statistics, attributing the near doubling of health and education budgets to Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014. He highlighted the rapid expansion of AIIMS, medical colleges, and the increase in MBBS and postgraduate seats across India. He also claimed that there have been revolutionary changes in healthcare access for the poor under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Switching focus to the Jubilee Hills by-election, the Union Minister strongly criticized the alleged demolition of the Banjara Hills Peddamma temple, attributing the action to an attempt to appease Muslim voters. 'If this is not rectified and an apology issued, Hindus will unite and send a clear message at the ballot box,' he warned.
