Bhatti takes stock of flood prep in Khammam, Kothagudem districts

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that solar pump sets, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems, and horticultural crops would be provided free of charge to farmers under the ROFR Act through the Indira Giri Jal Vikasam scheme, with a total expenditure of Rs 12,600 crore planned over three years.
However, it was noted that some MLAs are delaying the submission of proposals for Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Panchayat Raj roads. The government has prepared a budget of Rs 20,000 crore for constructing all roads.
The Deputy Chief Minister clarified that there is no shortage of urea, assuring farmers that they need not worry. He emphasized that the Indiramma housing scheme will be remembered as a significant achievement.

His experience, having started his career as a public representative in local bodies, will be invaluable for the development of the joint Khammam district.'
The meeting acknowledged that, so far, the Godavari floods are at a normal level, and no danger warnings have been issued. However, flood relief measures should be initiated by all authorities, and life jackets must be readily available. A control room should remain operational until the end of the rainy season.
As part of Vana Mahotsav, useful plants should be distributed to the community, benefiting everyone. Officials were directed to provide information regarding the number of plants planted over the last ten years, the costs associated with planting them, and the survival rate of those plants.
In a major panchayat, detail the number of plants planted in the past ten years, the costs incurred, the survival rate, and the steps that should be taken to ensure their survival. A complete study should be conducted as part of a pilot project, with all relevant details provided.
On the education front, he highlighted the need for integrated schools to be established on 25 acres, with all integrated schools serving as role models. Welfare and Gurukul students should receive meals according to a set menu, with no compromises on quality. Additionally, continuous medical check-ups should be conducted for students throughout the rainy season.

Construction Of India's First Indigenous Hovercraft For Coast Guard Begins At Goa Shipyard
The construction of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) first indigenously built Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) was kicked off on Wednesday with the Girder Laying and Commencement of Erection ceremony at Chowgule & Company Pvt. Ltd. in Goa, as per a Ministry of Defence statement. The hovercraft, developed using established Griffon Hoverwork designs, is being customised for diverse coastal security tasks. Once deployed, these ACVs will offer improved speed, greater tactical versatility, and the ability to operate in shallow waters, allowing for rapid response in patrolling, interdiction, and search and rescue operations along India's extensive maritime borders. The Girder Laying and Commencement was held in the presence of Deputy Director General (Materiel & Maintenance), ICG Inspector General Sudhir Sahni. The construction of the hovercraft follows a contract signed with the Ministry of Defence on October 24, 2024, for six ACVs, underscoring the ICG's drive towards operational self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. India's indigenous defence production has surged to an all-time high of Rs 1.46 lakh crore, with exports increasing to a record Rs 24,000 crore in 2024-25, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said recently. "Our defence production, which was only Rs 43,000 crore 10 to 11 years ago, has now crossed a record figure of Rs 1,46,000 crore, with the private sector's contribution at over Rs 32,000 crore. Our defence exports, which were around Rs 600-700 crore 10 years ago, have surpassed a record figure of Rs 24,000 crore today," he said. The Defence Minister described Make-in-India as crucial for security and prosperity, stating that the use of indigenous systems during Operation Sindoor has proved that India has the power to penetrate any armour of the enemy. He further stated that the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme execution model, will open an opportunity for the private sector to participate in a mega defence project along with public sector companies for the first time, further bolstering the Make in India drive in the defence industry, which played a key role in the success of Operation Sindoor.

Operation Sindoor: Centre issued directions to block over 1,400 fake URLs on digital media
New Delhi: The government issued directions for blocking over 1,400 URLs on digital media during 'Operation Sindoor', as their content included false, misleading, anti-India news content, communally sensitive content -- primarily from Pakistan-based social media accounts, and inciteful content against Indian Armed Forces, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Union Railways and Electronics and IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha that it was observed that certain social media handles, many operating from outside India, were actively propagating false and potentially harmful information during the Pahalgam terror attack and 'Operation Sindoor.' "Under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000, the government issued necessary orders to block websites, social media handles and posts in the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of the State, and public order," he said. On April 26, 2025, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had issued an advisory to all media channels to refrain from showing live coverage of defence operations and movement of security forces in the interest of national security. During 'Operation Sindoor', a centralised Control Room was established for interdisciplinary and inter-departmental coordination. This Control Room functioned 24x7 and facilitated real-time information dissemination to all media stakeholders. The minister further informed that this Control Room comprised nodal representatives from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with officers from various government media units, and officials from the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Social media handles and posts spreading fake news and misinformation were actively identified. "Fact Check Unit under the PIB actively monitored social media platforms and online news sources in real time to detect fake images, edited videos, misleading narratives, and any manipulated content targeting the operation's objectives, government agencies, or security forces," said Vaishnaw. The Unit debunked Pakistani propaganda against India and the Indian armed forces and fact-checked many posts countering such content. Additionally, the links related to disinformation or false news concerning 'Operation Sindoor', fact-checked by the FCU, were promptly shared with concerned intermediaries for appropriate action.
