Savoye's solution ‘ODATiO WMS' goes live at CJ Logistics fulfilment centre – Phase 1 in SILZ

Savoye, a leading one-stop-shop integrator of automated warehouse solutions and software publisher in the Middle East, has successfully deployed its ODATiO Warehouse Management System (WMS) at CJ Logistics' fulfilment centre for iHerb, located in the Riyadh Integrated zone that is developed and operated by Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ) Company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This successful completion marks a significant achievement as the first WMS implementation within a SILZ facility, a critical initiative under Saudi Vision 2030 designed to position the Kingdom as a leading global integrated logistics hub, and to bolster the Middle East's rapidly growing logistics and e-commerce sectors. Dr. Fadi Bin Saleh Al-Buhairan, Chief Executive Officer of SILZ Company, stated: 'The region's first advanced WMS going live within SILZ marks more than just a technological achievement. It is a powerful embodiment of our vision for the Zone, where we are not merely building infrastructure, but shaping a fully integrated ecosystem where innovation meets ambition. This milestone, achieved in collaboration with Savoye and CJ Logistics, is a testament to our commitment to creating the engine that will empower our partners to raise the bar on logistics efficiency and extend their reach from the heart of the Kingdom to serve global markets.' ODATiO now drives the facility's main operational processes, including receiving incoming goods, conducting quality checks, tracking items at the SKU level, managing stock replenishment, order picking, and outbound shipping — all tailored to meet the specific requirements of iHerb, a health and wellness e-commerce brand. A key feature of Phase 1 is the ODATiO Business Rule Engine, which allows CJ Logistics to set and modify operational rules as needed. This includes setting custom restocking levels, automatically triggering value-added services, and fine-tuning picking methods — ensuring that the operation remains scalable, responsive and under maximum control as requirements evolve. This phase has enabled CJ Logistics to establish a robust digital foundation for managing iHerb's diverse product portfolio, which demands high standards for compliance, quality, and traceability. Alain Kaddoum, Managing Director at Savoye Middle East, said: 'The project sets new benchmarks for eCommerce logistics and reflects our strong commitment to driving innovation and enhancing efficiency across Middle East, specifically in Saudi Arabia's supply chain sector. With the Kingdom's e-commerce market size estimated at USD 27.96 billion in 2025, and expected to reach USD 49.49 billion by 2030, it's clear that scalable, intelligent, and integrated logistics infrastructure is critical. By structuring this deployment into two clear phases, we were able to support CJ Logistics' progressive launch strategy. This flexible approach allowed us to deliver value quickly while setting the foundation for a seamless transition to automation. At Savoye, we believe that innovation must be purposeful, empowering businesses, enhancing scalability, and supporting national ambitions like Saudi Vision 2030'. Phase 2 is scheduled for later this year and will see ODATiO integrated with the facility's automation infrastructure, including X-PTS shuttle systems and zone-to-zone picking. Once fully operational, the site will handle up to 15,000 orders daily with high-speed precision. JJ Woo, General Manager at CJ Logistics, said: 'Savoye has been an exceptionally responsive and collaborative partner throughout this journey. Their ability to adapt to our evolving business needs and timelines has been instrumental in successfully launching this complex project, especially within the high-performance, fast-paced environment of Riyadh Integrated, SILZ's first airport logistics zone'. This implementation reflects the strong alliance between Savoye, CJ Logistics, and SILZ Company—each playing a strategic role in delivering a smart, scalable, and high-throughput logistics operation in the heart of Saudi Arabia.

Sheraa unveils the 7th edition of Access Sharjah Challenge

With a total prize value of AED 500,000, the Access Sharjah Challenge is now open for applications from education-focused startups around the world that have validated prototypes and are looking to scale internationally. Applications will be accepted until August 17. The challenge is being held in collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority and the Sharjah Education Academy. The prize money will be divided equally between two winners, enabling them to test and implement their solutions at Alsedra Private School, Khalifah Al Hamzah American School, Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School and Al Badee Nursery. The upcoming edition, organized by Sheraa in collaboration with key implementation partners, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and the Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) invites leading global education startups at the Pre-Series A, Series A, B, and C+ stage to submit innovative solutions addressing two priority education challenges: Future-Ready Skills Challenge, which focuses on equipping students with foundational and digital skills to keep pace with a rapidly evolving world and prepare for the jobs of tomorrow and Arabic in Early Childhood Challenge, which emphasizes the importance of nurturing a sense of belonging to the Arabic language and embedding it as a core part of a child's identity from an early age. This collaborative approach ensures that all challenge statements reflect real-world needs and that submitted solutions are positioned for meaningful and scalable impact across Sharjah's education ecosystem. Sharjah leads the future of education Commenting on the launch, Sara Abdelaziz Al Nuaimi, CEO of Sheraa, said: We believe that meaningful innovation is defined by its ability to create real impact and expand access to learning. The Access Sharjah Challenge 2025 offers a dynamic platform where forward-thinking ideas converge with strategic ambition, enabling the transformation of promising concepts into scalable, real-world educational solutions. Through this initiative, we aim to enrich an already vibrant learning ecosystem, offering educators and students renewed opportunities to embrace tools and technologies that nurture lifelong learning and spark intellectual curiosity.' She added: 'Sharjah today stands out for its thriving educational ecosystem, backed by advanced digital infrastructure and strong collaboration between government and private sectors. This solid foundation positions the emirate as a leader in reimagining the future of education. The Access Sharjah Challenge is an open invitation to the world's most innovative education startups to help shape an inclusive, agile, and future-ready learning model, built from within a community that champions creativity and innovation.' Ali Al Hosani, Director General of the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), emphasized the importance of the Authority's participation in the Sharjah Gateway Challenge. Through its presence, the Authority seeks to contribute to building an informed and empowered society grounded in knowledge and science. He noted that innovation is no longer an option; it has become the cornerstone of supporting sustainable development, shaping the future, and strengthening the country's competitive position on the global stage. He stressed that adopting innovative thinking mechanisms and providing a nurturing environment for talent are fundamental pillars in building a prosperous future for students. He said, "Through the educational brainstorming workshop, the Authority contributed to shaping the "Future-Ready Skills Challenge" as a key theme, driven by our belief in its role in leading a qualitative transformation in the education system." He expressed his pride in cooperating with Sheraa and the Sharjah Education Academy to launch this challenge, which represents an effective model for the integration of roles between educational institutions in the emirate. Professor Pauline Taylor-Guy, the Chancellor of Sharjah Education Academy, expressed: "We are proud to partner with the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) through the 'Access Sharjah' Challenge by launching our unique challenge, 'Arabic Language in Early Childhood'. This collaboration demonstrates our collective dedication to fostering educational innovation and entrepreneurial solutions that restore the Arabic language as a vital component of children's lives, serving as a means of identity, culture, and belonging, rather than just a communication tool." She added: "At Sharjah Education Academy, we strive to reimagine the presence of the Arabic language in our children's lives by integrating it in fun and engaging ways into everyday learning activities. We are committed to empowering teachers, involving families, and designing stimulating learning environments that make Arabic a vibrant, meaningful experience rooted in belonging from the earliest years of a child's life. We hope this challenge inspires innovative ideas that strengthen Arabic language learning and deepen generational connections to it." Eligibility and program criteria ASC 2025 is open to global startups with a previous track record in working with corporate or government collaborations. Applicants must offer impact-driven, adaptable, and market-ready educational solutions aligned to the program's challenge statements. Startups should also demonstrate strong leadership, market traction with existing users, and a willingness to establish a local presence in Sharjah to scale their solutions regionally. From over 2,000 applications, 10 startups will be shortlisted through a rigorous two-stage selection process. The first, Criteria-Based Filtering, will assess alignment with challenge themes, market readiness, and scalability. The second, Interview-Based shortlisting, will evaluate the startup's fit for Sharjah's context, pilot readiness, and long-term potential. AED 500,000 prize and pathway to scale Following the selection of the top 10 startups, a dedicated 'Champions Training' program on August 20 will prepare implementation leads from partner organizations to effectively guide the Proof of Concept (PoC) phase. These champions will be trained in best practices for startup mentorship, PoC management, and adaptive troubleshooting, ensuring a smooth and impactful collaboration throughout the program. Participants will then undergo a tailored 'Startup Readiness Sprint' on August 27–28, designed to ensure alignment with the challenge. The program will focus on technical fit, pitch refinement, and collaboration readiness, equipping startups with a deep understanding of the challenge statements, partner expectations, and local market dynamics. The Startup Readiness Sprint concludes with a pitch to a judging panel comprising of the implementation partners, industry experts and key stakeholders; two winning startups will receive an equity-free grant of AED 250,000 each to pilot their solutions across schools and early childhood development centers in Sharjah. The pilot phase, starting on 22nd September 2025, will provide real-world testing environments, continuous support, and potential for long-term partnerships and scale. The program culminates in a showcase of pilot results at Sharjah International Summit on Improvement in Education on 14 – 15 February 2016, where winners will be announced.

UAE Emerges as Premier Hub for Digital Nomads

Arabian Post Staff -Dubai Abu Dhabi, Dubai – The United Arab Emirates has climbed to second place in the 2025 VisaGuide Digital Nomad Visa Index, surpassing established destinations such as the Bahamas, Hungary, and Montenegro, and trailing only Spain. This ascent reflects the UAE's strategic pivot from an oil-driven economy to a digital-first global destination, underpinned by technological infrastructure, favourable tax regimes, and quality of life enhancements. With a score of 4.48 out of 5, the UAE trails Spain's top score of 5.00 on the index. VisaGuide's assessment considered six key factors: cost of living, visa income thresholds, taxation policies, internet connectivity, healthcare provisions, and tourism appeal. Among these, the UAE excels particularly in internet speed—the highest among index participants—and its zero income tax environment. Industry experts highlight the UAE's Virtual Working Programme as central to its success. The visa requires applicants to demonstrate a monthly income of at least USD 5,000, but offers long-term stability with a one-year renewable visa and a pathway to tax residency after 183 days of occupancy. As a result, the nation is increasingly perceived as a strategic location for professionals seeking financial efficiency and high-speed connectivity. ADVERTISEMENT Beyond the index metrics, the UAE has invested heavily in public–private partnerships aimed at improving urban liveability. Smart city initiatives in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have brought upgrades to healthcare, public transport, cultural amenities, and green spaces—features that cater to both expatriates and nomads. Local business leaders report rising demand for flexible work hubs, with coworking operators expanding operations across the emirates to accommodate this new demographic. At the same time, the nation's positioning as a global events centre—hosting high-profile conventions, sporting events and art exhibitions—has enhanced its appeal. The UAE now markets itself as a lifestyle destination which balances professional infrastructure and cultural vibrancy. Global digital nomad trends further bolster the UAE's rise. Industry reports suggest there are now between 40 and 80 million digital nomads worldwide, with significant proportions working in full-time remote positions. The majority are aged between 25 and 44, well-educated, and drawn to locations offering work–life synergies, cost-efficiency and mobility—all areas where the UAE measures strongly. Nevertheless, some critique remains. The USD 5,000 income requirement places the UAE out of reach for lower-earning nomads, in contrast to more accessible programmes in Eastern Europe or Latin America. That said, proponents argue the premium threshold aligns with the UAE's higher cost of living and positions the country as a destination for highly skilled professionals capable of contributing to its Vision 2030 economic diversification goals. VisaGuide's shift in ranking—from fourth place in 2023 to second in 2025—signals a rapidly evolving policy landscape. Since launching the Virtual Working Programme in mid-2021, the government has continued refining visa issuance processes, digitising applications, and exploring expanded visa durations and multi-entry permits. Such developments are likely to reinforce the UAE's standing as a top-tier remote-work hub as demand continues to grow. Looking ahead, rising competition from Spain and Montenegro—which offer lower income thresholds and EU access—suggests the UAE must maintain its digital edge. Experts recommend continued investment in affordable living solutions, broadband enhancements, and nomad-focused community services. The introduction of satellite cities and regional hubs is also under consideration to spread digital infrastructure beyond the emirate centres. For aspiring nomads plotting their next move, the UAE's rapid climb sends a clear message: remote work is no longer tethered to temperate climates or journey-to-work simplicity. With its borderless toolkit—tax freedom, connectivity, modern urbanism—it has repositioned itself as a compelling alternative to traditional European destinations.
