Liberty's Natasha Cloud returns to the site of WNBA betrayal

New York Post2 days ago

SAN FRANCISCO — Natasha Cloud's infectious personality was stuffed away like a winter coat when June hits. The woman who often has so many words to say had nothing.
This was on a lowly day in early February, when according to Cloud, she learned on Instagram that she had been traded from Phoenix to Connecticut.

The Mercury, who Cloud said promised her she'd retire with the team, included her at the last minute to get a four-team trade to acquire Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas across the finish line.
Even worse, Cloud was now going to play for one of the worst teams in the W.

Avalanche star halts Sidney Crosby trade rumors with 2 definitive words

There's no way the Pittsburgh Penguins will trade Sidney Crosby ... right? RIGHT???? How could they even though the team is heading toward a rebuild? He's an icon, an all-time great and has brought so much to the franchise that drafted him. But all-time greats have been traded or let go in free agency, so it wouldn't be unprecedented. Which brings us to some trade rumors that popped up during the 2025 NHL Draft. Crosby's ex-teammate Georges Laraque tweeted that there was "a good chance Crosby play somewhere else," followed by Kevin Weekes tweeting a photo of Denver. Hmm. But Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon shut that down real quick on Instagram with just two words: Here are those tweets from Laraque and Weekes: Sidney Crosby's agent responded to the trade rumors He called them "baseless rumors," and Rob Rossi had more reporting on the matter: Not really sure what's going on here, but doesn't seem like Crosby's getting dealt to Colorado anytime soon.

France top scorer Eugénie Le Sommer joins Mexican club Toluca

TOLUCA, Mexico (AP) — France all-time leading scorer Eugénie Le Sommer has signed a contract to play for Mexican club Toluca, where she will reunite with former Lyon coach Patrice Lair. The 36-year-old forward parted ways with Lyon in May after 15 seasons and wasn't chosen for the national team for the Women's European Championship. Toluca, located near Mexico City, said late Friday that Le Sommer has joined for the upcoming Liga MX Apertura season. Le Sommer's former France and Lyon teammate Amandine Henry also plays for Toluca. The defensive midfielder joined last year. Le Sommer has scored 94 international goals in 200 appearances for France. She posted a broken heart emoji on her Instagram page when she wasn't selected for the Euro 2025 squad. ___
