Cruise worker reveals the 'free-for-all' dating scene on ships

Daily Mail2 days ago
A cruise worker has revealed what dating is really like onboard ships.
In a video on her Youtube channel, Wanderlust Alley, entitled 'Working on a Cruise Ship – Expectation vs Reality', Alley says she always gets asked about 'intimacy and dating'.
She adds, 'the expectation is that it's just a massive free-for-all' – before confirming with a colleague that that perception is true.
Alley then goes on to share her own 'personal experiences'.
Explaining how onboard relationships are different to ones 'on land', as you have all the time in the world to see each other, she says: 'I would like to note that ships are a very expedited environment, if you enjoy someone's company, it is beyond tangible to spend so much time together and get to know each other.
'So maybe on the outside looking in, it may look like the situation is a bit rushed.
'But you can just form relationships super quickly here.'
Alley says that many cruise workers end up getting married to each other – but 'that doesn't mean that casual relationships aren't happening as well'.
And another agrees: 'You have to control yourself.'
One of her colleagues even admits he had a 'ship relationship' in which it was agreed that it would come to an end when they disembarked.
A fellow cruise worker adds: 'For me, if you have a girlfriend, you're not having a girlfriend to just play around – if you are committed, you have to be committed.
'But I know that other people have families at home and they have agreements where they get on a ship and then they have ship wives, ship husbands.'
Alley then goes on to admit 'there is a lot of opportunity' on a ship if you 'want it'.
Comparing onboard dating to at-land dating, she finishes: 'I think the major difference here is that the bar is as easy as a four-minute walk from your house and that just means it's simple to meet people.
'And on top of that, because we're in a confined environment, everyone just may seem to know about it.'

Canadian visits Greggs in 'UK's fattest town' and is floored by one shelf

Canadian health influencer Will Tennyson spent 24 hours in a town brutally dubbed the "UK's fattest" due to its astonishing number of fast food shops A Canadian health influencer was left stunned when he visited a Greggs for the first time, in a town dubbed the "fattest" in the UK. ‌ Ebbw Vale in Wales, garnered the unflattering title back in 2023 after it was found 73% of restaurants were fast food outlets – with many delivering to the same addresses three times a day. ‌ Will Tennyson spent 24 hours in the area to find what it was really like. But before speaking to residents about crippling economic struggles, he started like many hungry Brits do, with a trip to the local Greggs. And what he uncovered in the beloved bakery chain stunned him. ‌ The YouTube star, who has almost four million subscribers, asked the chatty woman behind the till what Greggs was most known for. Unsurprisingly the response was the iconic sausage roll. Minutes later, after getting his coffee, sausage roll, salted caramel donut and lemon meringue muffin, Will sat at a nearby table. The Toronto-born lad said: 'They are the king of sausage rolls. That entire display is almost completely empty which is insane, it is only 9.30 in the morning. And it is only £1.30… insane.' ‌ But after taking his first bite, he soon realised why the delicious pastries were flying off the shelf. 'That is an exquisite sausage roll,' he told the camera. 'I'm going to be smiling a lot today. This would be the breakfast of my dreams when I was eight-years-old. 'Now I strive to have a breakfast where I can see the nutritional value but this is awesome. Like you really can't go wrong with this, just pastry, meat, you can just see a shining of grease and butter and fat.' However, he did warn that the delicious sausage roll have 24 grams of fats and just nine grams of protein. He continued: "Wow, that is good texture on this thing. A lot of people get this for breakfast here, it is a lot of calories, no protein, it is all fat, all carbs, so it is going to be a lot of calories but it is not going to keep you that full.' ‌ He added: 'Everything at Greggs is so reasonably priced it is easy to end up leaving with so many things you didn't expect to get, like this pack of four sausage rolls which I'm heavily considering.' Later in his video, he said the cost-of-living crisis and a lack of employment opportunities was impacting the health choices of locals. ‌ To make the point, he explained how a packet containing six eggs in the only green grocer in town cost £3.50 – compared to a breakfast roll and coffee in Greggs costing just £2.95. Will said it was 'hard to argue with the convenience' and that he may have struggled to have lost the weight he did in his younger years had he been based in Ebbw Vale. He said the vast number of incredibly cheap fast food options available was 'super scary' to think about and he claimed locals, who spoke to him about their struggles, were 'literally set up for failure' because of the lack of affordable healthy meals. The content creator added: '24 hours in the UK's most obese town was eye-opening. People here are kind of trapped. 'They have limited choices to be healthy and breaking the norm is extremely difficult and when financial troubles are in the mix, it isn't about health, it is purely about survival and putting food on the table.'

Young Sheldon star found fame at age eight... but he doesn't look like this anymore

Iain Armitage launched his budding career at just the age of eight - and now looks all grown up in his latest social media snaps as he celebrates turning 17. The budding actor is known for portraying the role of Sheldon in the series Young Sheldon for a total of seven seasons, which is a spinoff to The Big Bang Theory. However, he had been vocal about his passion for entertainment long before starring in the CBS series and notably reviewed theater productions on YouTube. And just one year before becoming a legal adult, Armitage has already achieved many milestones, from receiving numerous accolades to earning his student's pilot license. Iain jumped to his Instagram stories on Tuesday to ring in turning one year older and was seen flashing a cheerful smile. He held a cupcake in his hand that was topped with sugary chocolate frosting and white sprinkles. Armitage added text over the image to his 1.7 million followers which read: 'Thank you thank you thank you for all of the birthday wishes!!' The budding actor is known for portraying the role of Sheldon in the series Young Sheldon for a total of seven seasons, which is a spinoff to The Big Bang Theory The actor is active on his social media account and takes his fans along with him as he pursues his many passions. Along with acting, the rising star has also been learning a variety of different languages - such as German and Brazilian Portuguese - and received his student pilot's license at the age of 16. Iain was only eight when he was cast in the leading role in the spin-off Young Sheldon - a show that he appeared in from 2017 until it came to an end in 2024. During an interview with the Los Angeles Times last year, Armitage reflected on the show's conclusion and officially saying goodbye to his character. When questioned how he has 'grown' as an actor, he explained, 'It's funny to think about because, especially with this show, I've fallen into such a rhythm with this character. 'I've been doing it for seven years, so it doesn't really feel that much like a massive acting challenge anymore because, up until three weeks ago, I was doing it every day, for five days...' At the time, Iain expressed how 'excited' he was for the next chapter in his life and career. 'I'm learning languages and doing a lot of travel. I do want to continue acting very much. And I do want to go to college very much,' the star said. 'I have a lot of fun things that I'm looking forward to. But right now, I have the luxury of at least feeling like I have all the time in the world, which is nice.' And in regards to what kind of role he would want to do in the future, Iain revealed to the outlet, 'I love an action movie or maybe a superhero movie. 'It'd be fun to do something with martial arts. I'd like to do something physical for once. "Sheldon" is so mental. I'd love to do a drama too...' He also received a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series - Leading Young Actor for his performance in Young Sheldon. While Armitage is known for portraying the character of Sheldon Cooper, his first television role had been in an episode of Law & Order: SVU. Iain also played Ziggy in the HBO series Big Little Lies beginning in 2017 - which also stars Shailene Woodley, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. The budding actor has also stepped into the world of film, such as voicing the character of Chase in Paw Patrol: The Movie (2021). Armitage began his career in entertainment when he would upload his own theater reviews onto YouTube. He soon gained recognition and had the chance to be a correspondent on the red carpet at the 2015 Tony Awards. Iain has seemingly developed a close friendship with fellow actor Jim Parsons - who played adult Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory. Back in 2017, the pair were seen dressed to impress while speaking on stage together during the 69th Annual Emmy Awards in L.A. Armitage has often supported Parsons - who has recently taken on roles on the stage in NYC, such as in the play Our Town. The actor made a milestone last year when he got his student pilot's license and announced the achievement to Instagram. While posing next to a plane, he penned: 'I got to do my first solo flight in a plane! I'm grateful to everyone who helped me make this a possibility. 'Thank you to Jean, Sergio, Mitch, Evan and especially to Ruby, Amelia and Larry! This was one of the very best days of my life!! Also thank you to Brian for pulling over to get the picture of me flying!' Armitage is also an advocate for the arts and partnered with The Creative Coalition in April. He advocated for funding while in Washington D.C. In one image, the star could be seen wearing a dark gray suit as he stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Iain is also the grandson of the late U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Lee Armitage - who passed away in April at the age of 79.

Kristin Cavallari reveals what type of man she'd like to date as ex Jay Cutler comes under fire for 'cruel' act

Kristin Cavallari described the type of man she'd like to date next on the latest episode of her Let's Be Honest podcast. On Tuesday's installment the 38-year-old former MTV personality chatted all things dating with matchmaker Patti Stanger. The women were discussing NFL players when Cavallari suddenly had the idea: 'You know what would be great is like, a coach.' Kristin — whose former NFL star ex-husband Jay Cutler just came under fire — said she's 'too old for athletes now.' She then asked rhetorically: 'Where are the hot coaches?' 'Some of them are hot,' she gushed. 'You'll see a photo and you're like, excuse me, who is that man?' Patti agreed, 'They're always in their 40s and really sexy, and they have scruff and nice hair.' Weighing the downside, Kristin added, 'The problem is they work a lot.' Stanger, who used to host the Bravo reality show Millionaire Matchmaker, suggested Kristin reach out to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce to introduce her to his single colleagues. The blonde bombshell mentioned that she's 'seen a couple coaches' on the exclusive dating app Raya, adding, 'Maybe I should start scrolling again, actually.' Cavallari's love life has played out publicly since she was a teen starring on MTV's hit show Laguna Beach, about the lives of high school students in Southern California. She was initially linked to classmate Stephen Colletti, and later went on to have high-profile romances with Brody Jenner, Justin Bobby, and Morgan Wallen, as well as other lesser known flings. Last year she dated TikTok star Mark Estes for seven months, making headlines for their 13-year age gap. And the Uncommon James founder was married to ex-husband Jay from 2013 until she filed for divorce in 2020. It was finalized in 2022. They share sons Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, nine. Cutler drew fierce criticism online this week after he posed alongside a wild animal he killed on a hunting trip in South Africa. The retired athlete, who was arrested for driving under the influence and gun possession following a car crash last year, headed to the Eastern Cape city of Tyityaba to go hunting with a group of friends last week. On Sunday night the ex-Chicago Bears star, 42, sparked fury when he shared a photo on Instagram of a Sable Antelope he shot dead while out in the wilderness. 'Kicked off the Africa hunt with a beauty. Sable down,' he wrote as the caption. A number of his followers were outraged by the sight of him smiling alongside the murdered animal, with one replying in the comments: 'This is nothing to brag about.' Another put: 'Wow, Jay. You killed a wild animal in a place it's rarely hunted and it had zero idea you were a threat. Suppeeerrrr impressive buddy.' 'I went to Africa on a safari and saw the most incredible wildlife and never once thought about murdering them,' said a third. 'What a cruel 'hobby' Jay. Shame on you for killing this beautiful animal. It breaks my heart,' wrote a fourth. While one user simply asked: 'Why is this necessary'.
