Shocking moment Spanish cop slaps tourist 'who swore at him after complaining about police treatment of African beach sellers' in Marbella

Daily Mail22-07-2025
Shocking footage captured the moment a Spanish cop slapped a tourist 'who swore at him after complaining about police treatment of African beach sellers' in Marbella.
The incident took place at Faro Beach located at the popular holiday resort Playa del Faro on Saturday afternoon.
The Marbella-based officer, who was seen in the clip wearing a helmet to protect his head, slapped the elderly man twice around the face despite the fact there seemed to be prior physical provocation.
The unidentified holidaymaker appeared to yell 'hijo de puta', which translates in English to 'son of a b****', before being hit.
Local reports have claimed the tourist had been voicing his discontent at the cop over his aggressive attitude towards the African beach sellers who gather on Marbella's seafront in the summer and sell counterfeit goods like sunglasses and bags in breach of municipal regulations.
Police officers were reportedly seen pushing one of them before the holidaymaker assault as other chased fellow street sellers trying to run away with their belongings.
Despite the clip appearing to identify the police officer as the aggressor, the elderly tourist is understood to have been arrested.
Another tourist donning a pair of swimming trunks, filmed being surrounded by seven officers and pinned to the ground following a shouting match, attempted to intervene but also ended up being arrested.

Sources claimed today, as the video footage now going viral was being looked at by local authorities to determine whether any officers should face disciplinary action, that one of the detainees threw a bottle at cops.
He is reportedly denying the allegation.
The beachfront drama occurred around a fortnight after another African street vendor was filmed punching a policeman in the face as he tried to stop him confiscating the counterfeit goods he was selling at a Marbella beach bar.
The vendors, known locally as 'looky looky men', were seen pummelling one cop after taking him down.
In a separate video, one vendor appeared to have broken part of the officer's helmet while punching him in the face.
As one man repeatedly punched and kicked the police officer, the other took a moment to pick up his fallen wares.
The two vendors then quickly escape, and the beaten officer was joined by a backup cop, all while tourists vacated the area.
The astonishing scene unfolded in front of British tourists, with one forced to jump out of the way as the violence flared yelling: 'What the f***! That was mental.'
Another was heard exclaiming: 'That was the most insane thing I've ever seen.'
Police later claimed the 'looky looky' men they have to deal with on a regular basis are getting more and more aggressive and don't think twice about employing violence when cops try to stop them and seize their merchandise because they know the courts will let them off with little more than a fine if they can be tracked down and identified.
Marbella Town Hall has not yet commented on the actions of the police officer seen slapping the tourist filmed insulting him at the weekend.
They said the incident had happened during a routine police inspection against itinerant street trading.
Police officers on quads are carrying out more regular inspections during the summer in Marbella.

British man linked to ‘one of London's most dangerous crime gangs' arrested

A British man accused of being an assassin has been arrested in the Costa del Sol. The suspect, who was reported by officers to be on the run and having links with 'one of London's most dangerous crime gangs', was found to have pistols, ammunition and a silencer in his crashed Nissan Qashqai following his arrest. He is alleged to have harassed two Dutch women after getting them to buy him cocaine in an incident at a petrol station and crashed his car, according to the local paper Diario Sur. The man, who is wanted for 'several murders', attempted to flee as officers arrived at the scene, in an area known as Riviera, between La Cala de Mijas and Marbella, it was reported by The Sun. A spokesperson for Mijas police said: 'A British man has been arrested in Riviera who had a warrant out for him ordering his remand in prison for murder.' He added: 'While conducting surveillance work in La Cala de Mijas, officers were called yesterday to deal with an altercation at a petrol station in the area. 'Upon arrival, they interviewed a customer at the station who stated that a foreign man who had been harassing her had already driven away from the scene. 'Shortly afterwards, a call was received alerting us to an accident on Orfebres Street in Riviera. 'Upon arrival the officers found a damaged vehicle that matched the one involved in the incident at the petrol station.' The images of the wreckage showed two pistols, ammunition, a silencer, a notebook with names and addresses, along with a book titled 'Practical Buddhism and the Search for Self' within the vehicle. Diario Sur reported on Saturday: 'An investigation remains open to clarify his links with organised crime.' It comes as two alleged members of a 'professional' robbery gang were arrested in Marbella following raids on around nine tourist flats.

New offence to target online posts for small-boat Channel crossings

People advertising illegal Channel crossings online could face up to five years in prison under a new offence the government plans to offence, which the government is seeking to create under the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill currently going through Parliament, would form part of a crackdown on the number of migrants coming to the UK on small illegal immigration to the UK is already a crime, but officials believe the offence would give police and other agencies more power to disrupt criminal out last week showed more than 25,000 migrants have arrived in the UK via small boats in 2025 so far, a record for this point in the year. BBC on French beach as police slash migrant 'taxi-boat' heading to UKHow many people cross the Channel in small boats?A decade of small boat migrants - how did it begin? Why do Channel migrants want to come to the UK? The new UK-wide offence would criminalise the creation of material for publication online, which promotes or offers services that facilitate a breach of UK immigration law. This would include people using social media to advertise fake passports or visas, or the promise of illegal work opportunities in the UK, and as well as jail time could carry a large fine. According to analysis by the Home Office, around 80% of migrants arriving in the UK via a small boat have told officials they used social media during their journey, including to contact agents linked to people-smuggling Secretary Yvette Cooper said: "Selling the false promise of a safe journey to the UK and a life in this country - whether on or offline - simply to make money, is nothing short of immoral."These criminals have no issue with leading migrants to life-threatening situations using brazen tactics on social media. We are determined to do everything we can to stop them."The National Crime Agency (NCA) already works with social media companies to target online posts promoting organised immigration crime, with more than 8,000 posts taken down in NCA has taken action against a number of people-smuggling gangs where social media accounts have been used to promote crossings.A network operated by Preston-based smuggler Amanj Hasan Zada, who was jailed for 17 years, posted videos of migrants thanking him for helping director general of operations Rob Jones said the proposed new offence would give them more options to target gangs and their business Home Office said cases of Albanian people-smugglers, who have used social media platforms to promote £12,000 "package deals" to Britain including accommodation and employment upon arrival, would be within the scope of the proposed offence. Policing minister Diana Johnson said the law would be drafted to enable "extra-territorial reach" which would mean that if an advert was produced abroad and the perpetrator then travelled to the UK then authorities in the UK "would be able to deal with them".She added: "We will be working, as we have done for many months now, with authorities in other countries, to hold these people to account, to close down these criminal gangs, to stop this business model."But the Conservatives said the plan was "too little, too late".Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: "Tinkering at the edges won't fix the problem."He added that the Conservative Deportation Bill would allow police and other agencies to "remove illegal arrivals immediately and remove them without delay". No 10 wants to work more closely with France to reduce the crossings.A deal was struck in early July between Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron to send some migrants who arrive on small boats back to every migrant returned, France would send an asylum seeker to the UK - potentially one with a family connection to critics pointed out this would involve a tiny proportion of those currently crossing, and questioned whether the scheme would deter government has also toughened up rules to make it almost impossible for anyone arriving in the UK on a small boat to become a British citizen.

Fugitive Brit who Spanish police believe is a 'hitman wanted for murder' arrested in the Costa del Sol after a car crash that saw a pistol and silencer spill out over the road

A fugitive Brit believed to be a hitman who police say was wanted for murder has been arrested after a run-in with two women at a Costa del Sol petrol station and a subsequent car crash. Police released photos of pistols, ammunition and a silencer seized in his vehicle after the suspect, described locally as having links with 'one of London 's most dangerous crime gangs', tried to flee and they held him and discovered he should be in prison. The pics showed the unnamed Brit was also carrying a book called 'Practical Buddhism and the Search for Self.' The arrest was made in an area called Riviera between La Cala de Mijas and Marbella. Respected local paper Sur said he was wanted for 'several assassinations' and reported the argument he had at the petrol station was with two Dutch women he started berating after trying repeatedly to get them to buy him cocaine. A spokesman for local police in the municipality of Mijas, who are employed by Mijas Town Hall, said: 'A British man has been arrested in Riviera who had a warrant out for him ordering his remand in prison for murder.' He added: 'While conducting surveillance work in La Cala de Mijas, officers were called yesterday to deal with an altercation at a petrol station in the area. 'Upon arrival, they interviewed a customer at the station who stated that a foreign man who had been harassing her had already driven away from the scene. 'Shortly afterwards, a call was received alerting us to an accident on Orfebres Street in Riviera. 'Upon arrival the officers found a damaged vehicle that matched the one involved in the incident at the petrol station. The driver attempted to flee when he saw police but was quickly intercepted by the officers. Once identified, they verified that he was a British man with a warrant for his arrest and remand in prison for murder. 'He was also carrying several firearms and a large amount of ammunition which were seized. 'After being arrested, he was handed over to the Civil Guard police force so he could be taken before a judge and subsequently imprisoned.' Police offered no detail about the exact nature of the crimes he was wanted for or any information about his age. As well as two pistols and the silencer they are also said to have found a contacts book with names and addresses in his crashed car which they have handed over to Civil Guard investigators to go through. The photos they released of the smashed-up Nissan Qashqai showed the British man had hit a lamp-post in a residential street. He has already been remanded to jail on the orders of a judge in Fuengirola. Sur reported today: 'An investigation remains open to clarify his links with organised crime.'
