Shocking moment Spanish cop slaps tourist 'who swore at him after complaining about police treatment of African beach sellers' in Marbella
Shocking footage captured the moment a Spanish cop slapped a tourist 'who swore at him after complaining about police treatment of African beach sellers' in Marbella. The incident took place at Faro Beach located at the popular holiday resort Playa del Faro on Saturday afternoon. The Marbella-based officer, who was seen in the clip wearing a helmet to protect his head, slapped the elderly man twice around the face despite the fact there seemed to be prior physical provocation. The unidentified holidaymaker appeared to yell 'hijo de puta', which translates in English to 'son of a b****', before being hit. Local reports have claimed the tourist had been voicing his discontent at the cop over his aggressive attitude towards the African beach sellers who gather on Marbella's seafront in the summer and sell counterfeit goods like sunglasses and bags in breach of municipal regulations. Police officers were reportedly seen pushing one of them before the holidaymaker assault as other chased fellow street sellers trying to run away with their belongings. Despite the clip appearing to identify the police officer as the aggressor, the elderly tourist is understood to have been arrested. Another tourist donning a pair of swimming trunks, filmed being surrounded by seven officers and pinned to the ground following a shouting match, attempted to intervene but also ended up being arrested. The unidentified holidaymaker appeared to yell 'hijo de puta', which translates in English to 'son of a b****', before being hit Sources claimed today, as the video footage now going viral was being looked at by local authorities to determine whether any officers should face disciplinary action, that one of the detainees threw a bottle at cops. He is reportedly denying the allegation. The beachfront drama occurred around a fortnight after another African street vendor was filmed punching a policeman in the face as he tried to stop him confiscating the counterfeit goods he was selling at a Marbella beach bar. The vendors, known locally as 'looky looky men', were seen pummelling one cop after taking him down. In a separate video, one vendor appeared to have broken part of the officer's helmet while punching him in the face. As one man repeatedly punched and kicked the police officer, the other took a moment to pick up his fallen wares. The two vendors then quickly escape, and the beaten officer was joined by a backup cop, all while tourists vacated the area. The astonishing scene unfolded in front of British tourists, with one forced to jump out of the way as the violence flared yelling: 'What the f***! That was mental.' Another was heard exclaiming: 'That was the most insane thing I've ever seen.' Police later claimed the 'looky looky' men they have to deal with on a regular basis are getting more and more aggressive and don't think twice about employing violence when cops try to stop them and seize their merchandise because they know the courts will let them off with little more than a fine if they can be tracked down and identified. Marbella Town Hall has not yet commented on the actions of the police officer seen slapping the tourist filmed insulting him at the weekend. They said the incident had happened during a routine police inspection against itinerant street trading. Police officers on quads are carrying out more regular inspections during the summer in Marbella.

Brit, 25, dies after plunging from Ibiza supermarket carpark
A British holidaymaker has died in hospital after plunging from a supermarket carpark in Ibiza. The 25-year-old, who has not been named, fell from the Mercadona in the resort of San Antonio, around 8pm local time yesterday. He was stabilised at the scene by paramedics in two ambulances before being taken to the private Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic on the island. Overnight it emerged the tourist was fighting for his life in an intensive care unit at a private island hospital. Today at around midday the hospital confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries. The circumstances of the man's death are still under investigation. A hospital spokesman said early this morning that the Brit had been admitted just after 9.30pm last night. Speaking before hearing that the man had died, a well-placed source said: 'Yesterday a 25 year old man fell from the car park of the Mercadona supermarket in San Antonio. 'He was taken by an advanced life support ambulance to the Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic where he was admitted at 21:38. 'The patient, a British national, remains in the intensive care unit in a very serious condition after suffering a traumatic brain injury with a skull fracture, dorsal vertebral fractures, chest trauma and a collapsed lung, as well as abdominal injuries and injuries to his spleen and liver all caused by the fall.' An official at the hospital confirmed the sad news just before 1pm local time today: 'Regrettably and despite all the efforts of medical personnel, the patient who fell yesterday in San Antonio has died due to the severity of his injuries.' The latest tragedy occurred eight days after a Scots holidaymaker fell to his death at a hotel in Ibiza. Evan Thomson, 26, from Aberdeen, tragically lost his life in the incident at the famous Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Tragic Evan is thought to have been celebrating on holiday with friends following his birthday last month. His mother Lel Kellighan, posting on social media, said: 'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away. 'We are all absolutely broken. Please allow us some time.' It comes after a Scottish teenager died in the early hours of August 20 last year after falling from a sixth-floor hotel balcony in Ibiza. Emma Ramsay, 19, from Hamilton, was on holiday with friends in the party resort of San Antonio. The tragedy occurred at a seafront four-star adult-only hotel called Hotel Vibra District. Three days earlier a 28-year-old British holidaymaker died in a 15ft fall at a hotel in Palmanova near Magaluf in Majorca after a night out partying. The dead man's partner had to be treated for a panic attack later in the day. The incident happened at the four-star Reverence Mare Hotel in Palmanova. The Civil Guard is understood to have launched an investigation into the latest tragedy. No-one from the police force could be reached early this morning for comment. It is not yet known where in the UK the dead Brit is from and whether he was on his own when he fell or accompanied by other people. The height he plunged from has not yet been disclosed.

British holidaymaker charged €1,350 for four plates of food at ‘scam' restaurant
A BRITISH holidaymaker has revealed how they were charged €1,350 for four plates of food at a "scam" restaurant on a Greece holiday island. The tourist was visiting the Greek island of Mykonos when they visited the . The holidaymaker described the restaurant, in Mykonos, as 'an absolute scam' – an opinion echoed on TripAdvisor. DK Oyster The beachside bar on the island's stunning Platis Gialos has been slammed with furious reviews over the years. And diners have claimed to have been duped into paying hundreds of pounds for food and drinks. Jessica L, said: "The place is an abuse of price. For a whole fish we paid €350 and for three dishes €1,000. " The worst experience in Mykonos, because not even at Scorpions, which is one of the best places, did we pay that amount for a dinner for five people with a starter, main course, and dessert." Another customer said: "Why these prices charged, the place, does not lend itself to it, there is nothing upscale or luxury, a vulgar beach restaurant. "Run away, because despite the many horrible opinions of previous years, in 2025 the owners have not changed their mindset." Another customer said: "Asked for a seat in the sun and a drinks menu, he offered us 1 litre of lager for €100! "Once we said no thanks he proceeded to drop the price but we didn't stick around. "If you find yourself here, do yourself a favour and walk on to another bar as they don't try to rip you off and the atmosphere is much better. We ended up paying €7 each for a lager. A look at notorious 'rip-off' holiday bar DK Oyster with £40 drinks, £7 for ketchup & 'new tactics to con tourists' Another customer, explained that the venue entices you in with the offer of free sunbeds. "However, once seated, you're offered drinks without a menu or any mention of prices. We were asked if we wanted a 'large or small beer' — naturally assuming this meant a pint or half. "Instead, they brought out huge glass boots of beer (approximately a litre) and later charged €35 per drink, regardless of the size or what it was. "At one point, a staff member brought over an additional drink — unrequested - as a 'gift' for one of our group who had finished their beer first. It seemed like a friendly gesture until it appeared on the bill. "When we asked for the total, we were presented with a bill just under €400 for a handful of drinks. "We were shocked to discover we were charged for more drinks than we had actually ordered, including the so-called 'free' one. Even soft drinks like Coca-Cola, we were told, were also €35 each. Previous Complaints DK Oyster Bar previously made the news in May in 2022 after the two American tourists took the restaurant to court. Brenda Moulton and her daughter Kaylea, 19, were horrified when they were charged nearly 600 euros (£510) for two drinks and a snack at the restaurant. She said when complaining to her travel agent: "We spent a beautiful day at the beach but please, warn your future customers that the restaurant bar we visited, charged us €600 for two cocktails and a portion of crab legs. "While we knew that the bill would not exceed €200, suddenly they asked us to pay €600!" A few months later in July 2022, another holiday maker revealed how he was charged £360 for four drinks and a snack at the "rip-off" restaurant. Speaking to The Sun Online, Jak said he had gone to the place with a friend last month, but thought that he wouldn't be ripped off because he spoke Greek. While yet another spent £300 on a child's meal due to the waiter's sneaky tactic. The owner's reponse The owner, Dimitris Kalamaras, has dismissed the allegations, and said that the luxury surroundings come with a luxury price reports The Metro. He said: 'I want to tell you from my heart that we value our customers. "We have carefully accounted for the cost in order to produce a product which we consider to be value for money. "If you can't afford them, in order to avoid any bitterness, just opt for the special combo menu. "Which may not be the most satisfying option, but allows a small glimpse for those who cannot afford the experience." He said the claims to TripAdvisor are false, and states that customers should ask for a manager to discuss the price before they order. He added: "Unfortunately, all of us who work in the hospitality sector have been approached by notorious 'influencers' who instead of making their living by advertising products and services to their audience, put pressure on certain businesses for exorbitant fees and free meals. "In DK Oyster we have advertised in the ways we consider suitable for our restaurant and we will not succumb to the influencers who have been attracted to the beautiful island of Mykonos."

Woman baffled by 'ridiculous' armrest on Ryanair flight from Mallorca
A 'frustrated' holidaymaker has accused Ryanair of 'ridiculous' cost-saving tactics - by giving her only 'a third of an armrest' on her flight. Becky Shaw was flying home at midnight from a four-day trip to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, on but was surprised to discover she only had an armrest 'stump' on her right-hand side. The 28-year-old was left 'frustrated' after not being able to rest her head on her hand and was forced to stay awake for the two-hour flight so she was 'really tired' for work that day. Having forked out £150 for the return flight from Manchester Airport, the accountant couldn't understand the 'really stupid' decision not to have a full-length armrest. She believes it to be a way for the low-cost airline to cut costs but claims that passengers expect to be able to rest their arms during even low-budget flights. Taking to TikTok, Becky shared footage of her seat captioned 'you can't seriously call that an armrest', which has now gone viral with more than 8,576 views. READ MORE: Woman found dead in car READ MORE: Judge says 'nobody is impressed' after what man did in crowd of Liverpool fans In the clip you can see Becky strapped into her chair with only a tiny portion of armrest and the rest just empty space. One user took to the comments disagreeing with Becky as 'nobody can complain' because it is a budget airline. Becky, who lives on the Wirral, said: "I don't know why it wasn't a full-length arm rest but it was ridiculous. It was one third of an arm rest and you could rest your elbow on it. There was literally no point in it being there. I had a full one on the other side but I didn't on my right side. It was a bit mad. "It was frustrating because it was a late-night flight and I wanted to sleep because I was working the next day but I couldn't put my arm down to rest my head on my hand because there was no armrest there. I wasn't going to lean on the person next to me. I was awake for the whole flight which was not ideal because we didn't land until nearly 2am and then I was really tired for work the next day." The accountant, who'd flown to Palma de Mallorca with a friend to enjoy the bank holiday weekend, admitted she thinks it was a 'cost-saving' tactic by the airline. Becky said: "There was no benefit as to why it wouldn't be a full-length one. I just assumed it would be cost-saving because that's what they tend to do. They cut costs wherever they can. "I know that they charge stupid money for bags and stuff but that's an armrest, it's a given with a flight isn't it. It's a cheap flight but realistically it doesn't end up being cheap when you have to take bags and I expect to be able to rest my arm, that's a given. You don't expect free food and stuff like that but you'd expect your seat to have an armrest." Ryanair has been approached for a comment.
