Ex-Rangers star Ianis Hagi ‘in contract talks with Euro club as he weighs up mega-money offer'

IANIS HAGI is still searching for his next club after leaving Rangers at the end of his contract.
The Romania star, 26, has been a free agent since his Ibrox departure and has been on the radar of several clubs from across Europe.

Hagi has been reportedly the subject of an approach from Poland with Legia Warsaw said to be interested, while clubs in Germany and Turkey have also been keeping close tabs.
He's certainly not short of options and has been weighing up his next move over the past few weeks, with a big decision to make on his future.
But according to fresh reports from Europe, Hagi may finally be closing in on his next club.
Romanian outlet Fanatik claim his next destination will likely be Istanbul, following in the footsteps of his legendary father Gheorghe.
Hagi Snr ended his trophy-laded career in football at Galatasaray where he lifted another 10 trophies, before taking over as manager on two separate occasions in 2004 and 2010.
But despite his incredible reputation in the Turkish capital, Ianis isn't guaranteed to carry the family name at the country's most successful club.
That's because although it's being reported that he could be on his way to Turkey, it isn't entirely clear that Galatasaray are in fact the club leading the race for his signature.
The report suggests that he's the subject of a mega-money offer from an unnamed Istanbul side, with another top club looking to snatch him as well.
There are as many as FIVE current top flight clubs based in Turkey's capital.
Along with giants Galatasaray, there are major rivals Fenerbahce and Besiktas, with Basaksehir and Kasimpasa also playing in the city.

It would be both a major shock IF he joined Galatasaray OR one of their closest rivals, given his dad's connections to Turkey.
It's stated that the offer comes "with a lot of money" but Hagi has yet to make a decision amid interest from another club outside Turkey.
It's believed a club from one of Europe's top five leagues - potentially the Bundesliga - have also shown interest and are still in talks with the player.

And fellow new boy Aarons reckons the winger's performances will already be striking fear into opposition full-backs after his back-to-back supersub shows. Rangers haven't been short on rapid wide men in recent years with Rabbi Matondo and Fashion Sakala among those blazing a trail on the flanks. But nobody has had the end product Gassama has shown with his two stunning strikes so far since his £2.5m move from Sheffield Wednesday. Aarons, who had years of Premier League experience with Norwich and Bournemouth, is just glad he only has to face the 21-year-old in training. But worryingly for opposition defenders, he reckons he's still to hit top gear. He said: 'If I was playing right back for the opposition and I see him get ready to warm up at 60, 70 minutes with all his youth, enthusiasm, his pace and ability coming on.. I really wouldn't want that! 'Obviously he'll want to be starting games, but to have him at the moment in these two games coming on and making that impact is amazing. 'I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the ability that I've seen from him in training and games now. 'As a player that's a bit older, I'll try to help him to really shine and perform for us this season. All his team-mates will. 'I think he can have a great year. I'm really, really excited by him as a player.' If Gassama has wasted no time in winning over the Gers fans, then Aarons' impact has been more of a slow burner. The 25-year-old right back has been deployed on the left of a four-man defence with orders to push on into the engine room and help overload the midfield. It's a new style for the former England U21 international. More so, Martin's brave new possession-based game plan is a new concept for everyone not least the punters who have yet to be entirely win over by the blueprint. But, having survived a few hairy moments to come through the Panathinaikos double header, he's sure Rangers will smooth out the rough in the coming weeks. He said: 'From the experience I have now, I know when there's a new process and there's a new style of play, it can take four or five games, sometimes even more, to really settle in. 'So I think the fact that we're coming through these games and we're showing that we can dig in and not lose and actually win games, we know what we have to do. I feel like as the games come on, you're going to see more and more patterns of how we want to play and the confidence that comes from that. 'I feel like this team's going in a really nice way, to be fair. 'You'll see that week to week now, but it's a great sign that we're coming through so early on with a win in this tie. 'My role is different to what I've done before when I've played left back. That's been a traditional, stay wide type of role. 'Coming into this team and taking in what the manager wants, it's a lot of information in five weeks. 'But once you cross that white line, it's down to you as a player. 'And I feel like I'm growing and I feel like the team is as well. We've guaranteed European group stage football now. 'In a perfect world, we go to Panathinaikos, pass them off the pitch and completely dominate from minute one to minute 95. But it's a team that's at the top of their league year in, year out, and a very good side. 'In Europe, you have to find other ways to win. 'Five weeks in now, I think we can take a lot from that in terms of knowing the spirit and that this team can dig in and fight. 'We want to be up there at the top of the league and in the cups, and to do that, you've got to show those qualities. 'That was a big night in terms of recognising that for each other.' Despite racking up 245 club appearances at Norwich, Bournemouth and on loan at Valencia, the last week has been a first taste of European football for Aarons. And with Europa League group stage football now secured as a minimum, he can't wait for more. He said: 'Yes, for sure. Coming out at Ibrox last week, there were definitely goosebumps and Athens was an amazing feeling in terms of the atmosphere. 'These are the nights you want and not just that, you want to be successful on these nights, you want to win games on these nights, you want to dominate games and suffer with your team-mates on these nights: these nights are why you play football.'

Aarons: Rangers showed title-winning qualities in Champions League qualifier
Rangers left-back Max Aarons claimed his side showed title-winning qualities during their Champions League success against Panathinaikos. Russell Martin's side came through a tough moment in Athens after the hosts finally capitalised on some sustained pressure to halve their aggregate deficit with a 53rd-minute opener. Substitute Djeidi Gassama levelled on the hour mark – moments after coming off the bench – to net his second goal of the tie and seal a 3-1 aggregate win, which set up a third qualifying-round encounter with Viktoria Plzen. Aarons, who arrived on loan from Bournemouth this summer, told Rangers TV: 'It was extremely difficult, coming to Athens against a team at the top end of their league it is always going to be extremely difficult and then you add the weather in. 'We knew what we were coming into and I think we always knew it was going to be a different game to what it was at Ibrox, and we had to grind it out for sure. 'It is interesting because it is so early on in our time as a group. It is definitely a test and we really came through it. 'I think we grew into the game in the first leg, we grew into the game in this game as well. It is a great test for us and seeing this group can dig in. 'You need to dig in to win leagues, to win cup competitions and get as far as you can. 'You have to look to the side and know everyone is going to battle and I think we definitely showed that, which is really good to see.' Conor Coady to Rangers transfer delay cleared up as preferred destination revealed amid Wrexham interest
Russell Martin wants the experienced defender as part of his major overhaul as he continues his new era rebuild at Ibrox Rangers are still in the driving seat to land Conor Coady - if they press ahead with the transfer. Gers have been locked in talks with Leicester City over a move for the former England international. But Record Sport understands Foxes boss Marti Cifuentes has been refusing to sanction an exit for the 32-year-old. Coady, 32, is understood to be keen on a switch to Ibrox after being identified by Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell as a possible marquee signing. Ambitious Wrexham - owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney - have now joined the race as they target Premier League promotion. However, speaking on Hotline Live, our man Keith Jackson revealed that Govan remains Coady's preferred destination if a deal can be agreed. Jackson said: "The information I have received this afternoon has been interesting on this one. "I felt the whole thing felt it was cooling down, but apparently not. "Conor Coady's camp are still really hopeful that this one will get across the line. "Apparently the reason for the delay - and I did say that it felt Leicester pressed pause on it - what I am hearing is that the new manager Marti Cifuentes is the guy who put a personal block on it. "He was only appointed and unveiled 24 hours or less before Leicester went away to their Austrian summer HQ for pre-season camp and I believe Cifuentes was the guy who said 'nothing gets done until I get away and assess my squad and speak to some of the individuals involved'. "I think that is why everything kind of just stopped for a while with the potential Conor Coady to Rangers deal. "What I am hearing now is Cifuentes is more amenable to it. I think there is a realisation that it suits all parties and particularly Conor Coady. "However, there is an extra spanner in the works there as over that period Wrexham have made a bit of a push and I think they think they are at the table as well. "The information I am getting still suggests Rangers would be in the box seat if they want to press ahead with the sort of deal that was being discussed with Conor Coady a few weeks ago. "I think that is still the one Conor Coady wants. It remains to be seen if it is still the deal Rangers want. I would be very surprised if it is not."
