Ex-Rangers ace 'set to follow' father's footsteps in next move
The Romanian, 26, could be in line for a shock move to Turkey. He's been without a club since departing Ibrox at the end of last season. Reports have linked him with several clubs across the continent, with Legia Warsaw in Poland said to be one of the teams who have made an approach to Hagi. According to media outlet Fanatik, the attacking midfielder could be getting closer to resolving his future. That's because they claim he will follow in the footsteps of his legendary dad, Gheorghe, by moving to Istanbul as part of a mega-money deal. Read more: This is where his father spent the end of his career, winning 10 trophies at Galatasaray. He also had two spells as their manager. However, no club is named in the report, which means it's currently unknown whether Hagi Jnr will end up at Galatasaray like his old man, or if it'll be one of the four other Istanbul-based teams. Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Basaksehir and Kasimpasa also play in the city.

He's certainly not short of options and has been weighing up his next move over the past few weeks, with a big decision to make on his future. But according to fresh reports from Europe, Hagi may finally be closing in on his next club. Romanian outlet Fanatik claim his next destination will likely be Istanbul, following in the footsteps of his legendary father Gheorghe. Hagi Snr ended his trophy-laded career in football at Galatasaray where he lifted another 10 trophies, before taking over as manager on two separate occasions in 2004 and 2010. But despite his incredible reputation in the Turkish capital, Ianis isn't guaranteed to carry the family name at the country's most successful club. That's because although it's being reported that he could be on his way to Turkey, it isn't entirely clear that Galatasaray are in fact the club leading the race for his signature. The report suggests that he's the subject of a mega-money offer from an unnamed Istanbul side, with another top club looking to snatch him as well. There are as many as FIVE current top flight clubs based in Turkey's capital. Along with giants Galatasaray, there are major rivals Fenerbahce and Besiktas, with Basaksehir and Kasimpasa also playing in the city. Rangers star enters real estate business as he's spotted on tour of luxury apartment complex he's invested in It would be both a major shock IF he joined Galatasaray OR one of their closest rivals, given his dad's connections to Turkey. It's stated that the offer comes "with a lot of money" but Hagi has yet to make a decision amid interest from another club outside Turkey. It's believed a club from one of Europe's top five leagues - potentially the Bundesliga - have also shown interest and are still in talks with the player. Ianis Hagi shows true colours as Rangers hero gives ex SPFL rival priceless words of advice after box office transfer
Hagi is yet to find his next club but it hasn't stopped him offering some some words of wisdom Danny Armstrong says he's become good pals with Ianis Hagi after the Rangers hero gave him some priceless advice on how to survive Romanian football.. The former Kilmarnock signed for Dinamo Bucharest earlier this summer and made his bow for his new club following his surprise summer move from Ayrshire to Romania. And, after a 2-2 draw against Csíkszereda, Armstrong admitted Hagi - who left Rangers when his contract expired in the summer - was able to help him out. Hagi is yet to find his next club but it hasn't stopped him offering some words of wisdom as Armstrong said: "Ianis Hagi is a very good player and has become a good friend too. "Before I came here, I asked Ianis what he thought of Dinamo and the city of Bucharest. I just wanted some advice because it was a big move for me. "He spoke so well about Bucharest, about Dinamo, about the league. "I'm trying to learn Romanian and my colleagues are also teaching me a few words. As the days go by, I'll try again to learn. "It's something new for me, but it's good that many people speak English, so I'm happy about that. "I would say the football here is more intense than in Scotland and it's maybe more technical. The game is also more aggressive. "But it's something I will adapt to and I like learning new things and a new style of play. I'm looking to get better every day, that's my plan. Ex-Rangers star's Ibrox return categorically ruled out
Ianis Hagi, who was released by Rangers in May, is still a free agent. He has been linked with a return to Ibrox and has attracted interest from Legia Warsaw and clubs in the Gulf. However, Gheorghe Hagi, the former Real Madrid and Barcelona star, has quashed any hopes of his son going back to Rangers. Read more: Hagi Sr said: "I read that Ianis is returning to Rangers. "Let's all be serious about this. "He's gone there, he's closed that chapter in his career, he's closed it firmly." The Romanian international's father praised his son's time at Rangers. He said: "He did very well at Rangers. "Don't forget that. "He is a Romanian player who succeeded in an important country at a very big club." On the subject of his son's future, Mr Hagi said: "There's a lot of speculation, it's normal there is talk because he's a free agent. "He will decide where he wants to go, and even if we do consult and talk, the decision is 100 per cent his alone."

Rangers transfer 'target' told he's ready for Europe while Ianis Hagi could land jackpot move following Ibrox exit
South Africa star Relebohile Mofokeng has been linked with Gers inside the last 12 months Reported Rangers target Relebohile Mofokeng has been told that he is ready to make the jump into European football. The 20-year-old has burst onto the scene with Orlando Pirates in his native South Africa, helping them win three domestic cups since making his debut in 2023. The winger was crowned as the South African top flight's player of the season for 2024/25 and has gone onto win six caps for his country at senior level. Mofokeng was touted as a potential transfer target for several European sides including Gers last year, with Catalan giants Barcelona even said to have sent scouts over to watch him in person. And while it remains to be seen if he is on new Ibrox boss Russell Martin's radar, the youngster has been urged by South Africa and Leeds United hero Lucas Radebe that now is the time to try his luck further afield. He told iDiski Times: "I think he's ready (to go to Europe). You don't need five or ten seasons in the PSL to be ready. "He's had two great seasons already. That's enough to show his potential. From here, it's all about development – and that's where Europe can play a big role. "Players like Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, and even Itumeleng Khune – they all had the quality to play abroad earlier,' Radebe added. "But staying at one club or in the PSL too long doesn't always help their growth. That's why I believe our top talents must go as young as they can. Relebohile is at that stage now.' Meanwhile, Ianis Hagi has offers on the table from clubs in Europe's top five leagues following his Rangers exit - according to an insider close to the midfielder. The Romania international called it quits on his five year spell at Ibrox when his contract expired last month, with the playmaker missing the final three games of the season through injury. The 26-year-old was said to be on Polish side Legia Warsaw's radar but that potential transfer now looks be off the table after their manager Edi Iordanescu admitted that they would not be able to meet Hagi's wage demands. But following the rebuke, Steaua Bucharest and Romania legend Ilie Dumitrescu claims he has heard from Hagi himself that clubs in Europe's top five most prestigious divisions - England, Spain, Germany, France and Italy - have all enquired about his services. Speaking to Digisport (via he said: "I met him at the gym. He trained with Farul (Constanta), participated in training sessions. From what I understood, he had offers from top 5 European leagues. "He also had an offer from Legia, but he didn't accept. There are advanced discussions in top 5 leagues. We hope that they will materialize soon."
