Jake Paul accepts catastrophic purse for Anthony Joshua heavyweight fight
Jake Paul has shockingly agreed to take just a ONE PER CENT share of the purse in a potential blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua.
The social media sensation recently sat down with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh to discuss a potential fight with the two-time heavyweight champion. Earlier this year, Paul shocked the boxing world after he called for a fight with the 35-year-old. Joshua didn't shy away, ringing up the American and verbally shaking hands on a scrap over the phone.
Both are eyeing a mammoth crossover showdown come 2026. Fresh off his victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr last month, the 'Problem Child' renewed his call-out to Joshua.
During a recent appearance on 'The Boxing Voice', Alalshikh disclosed that Paul is so keen on the clash that he has accepted a staggering 99-1 purse split in favour of Joshua. "I'm not against what Jake Paul's doing in boxing, it's good for boxing to have a young generation," Alalshikh admitted.
"I'm against some kinds of fights he does. I'm now thinking him against Joshua. Joshua, if he destroys (Paul), it will be good for me. The headache of Jake Paul goes from my mind. If Jake Paul wins, I will know that Joshua is finished, and Jake Paul deserves his ranking and deserves to have a future in boxing. I don't want 50-50. In this situation, I want 99-1. Jake Paul has accepted. Now, next week I will talk with Joshua about it," reports All Out Fighting.
Eddie Hearn has dropped a bombshell, suggesting that a boxing clash the pair could be on the cards for next year. Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, the promoter didn't mince his words: "Yeah (there have been discussions), I was with his excellency yesterday, obviously he'd met Jake Paul, I think he would like to do it, you know, but it's mad enough to happen.

"It's not something we expected, it's not something we're targeting, if it's offered to us I would be shocked if AJ didn't accept it, why wouldn't you? The plan for us is to fight Tyson Fury next year, if we can squeeze in Jake Paul along the way and you guys want AJ to end this whole process, he'll gladly do it."
Hearn had previously voiced his concerns over what he described as a 'catastrophic mismatch' between the two fighters. In a chat with talkSPORT, he expressed his disbelief at the potential bout: "He's calling out Anthony Joshua, who is a heavyweight monster. I think Jake Paul is crazy enough to fight Anthony Joshua because the money would be absolutely obscene. It's a catastrophic mismatch that people would tune in to watch, because it would be the end of Jake Paul. It's that dangerous."
The boxing promoter remarked: "It's a fight that shouldn't really happen. They're very clever in terms of the opponents they pick. It wouldn't be surprising if Jake Paul wanted to move forward with an Anthony Joshua fight. Would he [Joshua] go in there and give him a hiding for a massive chunk of money? Probably. I'd be saying, 'Yeah, go on. I'd like to see. Is he [Jake] world-class? Absolutely not, but he is improving. He's a lot better than a lot of fighters out there."
When is Jake Paul's next fight?
Paul's next bout is already generating buzz after his victory over Cesar Chavez Jr last month. The American YouTube star is now eligible to compete for a world title, having been ranked in the WBC's cruiserweight division following his triumph against the Mexican fighter.
Paul's manager disclosed that his business associate is eager to contest for a world championship 'as soon as possible'. Yet, he concedes that a title fight might not be Paul's immediate next step due to the current 200lbs division landscape. "Absolutely [he will fight again this year]. November or December," Bidarian told Ariel Helwani regarding Paul's future plans. "I'm seeing him tonight for dinner, and we will have a conversation [about his next opponent]. The only possibility right now is that Jake wants to fight for a belt as soon as possible.
"I have to talk to him, I think it's tough this year [to box for a world title]. Badou Jack is who he wants to fight more than anyone, and he has a mandatory rematch with the guy he just beat [Noel Mikaelian] for the WBC. I don't know if this year is possible [for the title fight], but we'll see."

Russell Martin backed by American owners will pip ‘weaker' Celtic and restore Rangers to title glory
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MAKING predictions for the Premiership with a month of the transfer window to go isn't easy. There have been massive changes across the league already this summer but the Old Firm especially still have major business to do. 4 Djeidi Gassama has made an instant impact at the Gers Credit: Getty 4 Benjamin Nygren is expected to be a big player for Celtic Credit: Kenny Ramsay 4 Lawrence Shankland could be key for Hearts Credit: Kenny Ramsay The outcome of a close title race could be influenced by what happens with signings over the next four weeks. But I'll stick my neck on the line right now and say Rangers will win the Premiership. My Celtic friends out there will say I'm bound to get it right one day if I keep tipping my old club! Yet this properly feels like a new era at Rangers — with fresh ideas under the American owners and Russell Martin. It's going to be tough and you can't argue with Celtic starting the season as favourites to win a fifth successive title. But right now, they are weaker than they were last season and while you could say the same about Rangers, Martin's squad is getting stronger all the time. Mikey Moore was the latest arrival on Friday. I wouldn't expect too much too soon from the Spurs kid, but it's another attacking option. With Djeidi Gassama hitting the ground running and Thelo Aasgaard arriving with a big reputation, Rangers will be strong offensively. Yes, Hamza Igamane looks to be heading out and there is uncertainty over the future of Cyriel Dessers but Martin — backed by Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers — will not be left short if one or two do go. Rangers transfer special as Russell Martin eyes THREE wingers, Coady latest and Dowell future Across the city, Brendan Rodgers is now at the stage of the transfer window where he's making a public appeal for players. In Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren, Celtic have made two top signings. But the manager wants more and you can sense a bit of concern among the fanbase. With Jota injured, Nicolas Kuhn gone and Rodgers still asking for a Kyogo Furuhashi replacement, Celtic look short in attack. The uncertainty over the manager's future won't help matters as he enters the final 12 months of his contract. Then you have the Daizen Maeda situation, with that new contract still not signed months after it was put on the table. There is no doubt the Japanese striker will be a target for English and European clubs. At 27, he is at the stage where his next deal will be the biggest of his career. It wouldn't surprise me if Celtic got a massive bid for Maeda before the window shuts and I'm not sure they would turn it down. The same goes for Rangers and Nico Raskin, another player who will be attracting major interest. Cavenagh and the Ibrox board have made it clear a strong player-trading model is at the core of their plan. 4 That might mean cashing in on Raskin this summer and while he would be a loss, Celtic would miss Maeda a whole lot more. Whatever happens, I can't see Rodgers' side running away with the title like they have in the recent past. Martin hasn't wasted time in building foundations and with a few more additions Rangers will be strong title contenders. Below the Old Firm, I don't see anyone beating Hearts to third place under Derek McInnes. With Tony Bloom and Jamestown Analytics on board, the Tynecastle club have long-term ambitions of winning the league. That won't happen this season but they could surprise a lot of people after a summer of shrewd recruitment. From Stuart Findlay to Claudio Braga, Hearts' signings have been excellent. Keeping Lawrence Shankland was also crucial. In McInnes, they also have a manager who knows Scottish football inside out and they will finish third. Hibs will be up there battling with their Edinburgh rivals and I would expect another strong season from David Gray's men as they continue to progress. Then come Aberdeen and it will be fascinating to see if Jimmy Thelin can build on the Scottish Cup win. I have been critical of the Dons' signing policy and with European football to deal with, they still look a bit short. St Mirren have been top-six regulars in recent years and I don't see that changing. Have YOU got a point for Kris Boyd? Keeping hold of boss Stephen Robinson amid all the interest in him was a major coup and I fully expect them to have another strong season. Dundee United produced two solid European performances as they booked a Conference League tie with Rapid Vienna. Jim Goodwin clearly believes that you get better value signing players from outwith Scotland and I find that alarming. But he is doing a good job at Tannadice and you would expect them to battle St Mirren for that sixth place. Then there is a pack of four clubs who probably won't bother the top six — but should be safe of automatic relegation. Kilmarnock are among them. They have lost key players but Stuart Kettlewell is a sensible appointment and they will be fine. Falkirk have momentum after back-to-back promotions and are good to watch. They will find it much tougher, but they should have enough to steer clear of danger. The same goes for Livingston but I would have more concerns over Motherwell and the potential for them to get dragged into the play-off. As for relegation, I can't see past Dundee as things stand. I didn't agree with the sacking of Tony Docherty and they have since lost an entire team. They should have obliterated their League Cup group but instead failed to qualify. Docherty's replacement Steven Pressley is already under pressure from the Dundee fans and I fear things won't get much better for them. It all starts this weekend, with four games live on Sky Sports and all the best coverage in The Scottish Sun. As usual, there will be drama and chaos — and I can't wait for it. Bruno Fernandes receives new approach to leave Man Utd this summer
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has received an approach to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, according to reports in Portugal. Earlier this summer, Fernandes rejected a lucrative offer to join Al-Hilal with the Saudi side willing to pay the midfielder a contract worth £200 million over three seasons. 'There was an opportunity,' Fernandes said in June. 'The [Al-Hilal] president called me and asked if I wanted to go there. They were waiting for me. I spoke to coach [Ruben] Amorim. He asked me not to go. 'Manchester United didn't want to sell me. They don't need the money. If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.' However, A Bola reports that Al-Nassr have now made an attempt to sign Fernandes by approaching the 30-year-old this week. The report claims that Al-Nassr's new head coach, Jorge Jesus, is personally driving the club's push to sign Fernandes having managed the midfielder for one season at Sporting CP. Al-Nassr are said to feel that the presence of Jorge Jesus, as well as his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, will be enough to convince Fernandes to make the move to the Saudi Pro League. Earlier this week, Al-Nassr also secured a £43.7m (€50m) deal to sign Portuguese forward Joao Felix from Chelsea. Fernandes is currently with United's squad as they prepare for the final game of their pre-season tour of the United States against Everton on Sunday. More Trending Spinning theme park ride snaps in mid-air before crashing to the ground Speaking before the end of last season, Fernandes conceded that he could be sold by United in the summer transfer window. 'I will be here until the club tells me it is time to leave,' Fernandes said. 'I am available to make the club have great days again. The day the club thinks I am too much, or it is time to leave, football is like that and you never know. 'If the club thinks it is time to leave, because they want to make some money, that is what it is and football is like that sometimes.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
