(

) at the

on Saturday.

While fans are still holding onto hope for some cricketing action tonight, the match officials have set key timings in place.
Overs will begin to be reduced if rain persists beyond 8:45 PM IST. However, there remains a reasonable window of opportunity for play; the cut-off time to begin a five-over game is 10:56 PM IST.
If the rain relents before that, we could still witness a high-octane, shortened match between two playoff contenders.
The stakes are particularly high for both teams. RCB, currently second on the points table with 16 points, need just one more win to secure a playoff berth and potentially finish in the top two, a crucial advantage in the knockout stages.
Virat Kohli was always a VIBE during India's practice sessions
Their recent form has been impressive, with four consecutive victories pushing them into serious title contention.
For KKR, however, the situation is more desperate. With just 11 points, they must win both of their remaining matches to reach 15 and stay alive in the playoff race. Even then, their qualification would hinge on favourable results in other fixtures.

Anshul Kamboj story: Why the Haryana pacer is next in line for an India debut

Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj, who made history with a 10-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy, has joined India's squad for the 4th Test against England. Here's why the 24-year-old is tipped for a dream debut in Manchester. read more Anshul Kamboj became only the third bowler to take a 10-fer in an innings in Ranji Trophy. PTI The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given 24-year-old Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj a big chance. He was recently added to India's squad for the 4th Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, starting July 23. For Kamboj, this is a huge moment as he is now very close to making his India debut. A bowler who made history in Ranji Trophy Kamboj first grabbed headlines in November 2024 during the Ranji Trophy. He picked up a 10-wicket haul in an innings while playing against Kerala. His figures were an unbelievable 10/49. He became only the third bowler in 91-year-old Ranji Trophy history to achieve this feat. Premangshu Chatterjee in 1956 and Pradeep Sundaram in 1985 are the other two bowlers on the exclusive list. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD As far as Kamboj's First-Class record is concerned, he has played 24 matches and taken 79 wickets at an average of 22.88 and an economy rate of 3.10. He has played 25 List A matches and taken 40 wickets, and has 30 T20 games under his belt, in which he has 34 wickets, with an average of just over 20 in both formats. In the IPL, Kamboj started with Mumbai Indians in 2024 but was released. He played only three games for MI and took two wickets. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) then bought him for Rs 3.4 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. For CSK, he played eight matches and took as many wickets. Also Read: England ramp up mind games vs India by hiring Gilbert Enoka, mental coach famous for 'no d\*\*\*heads policy' Performances for India A Kamboj played two red-ball matches for India A against England Lions before the start of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. In the first unofficial Test, he picked up one wicket and scored 23 runs. In the second game, he bowled brilliantly and registered figures of 2/56 and 2/6. Kamboj also showed he can bat a little bit, scoring a crucial unbeaten 51 while batting at number nine. These performances caught the eye of selectors, who gave him a chance as soon as an injury replacement was required in the main team. Ashwin compares Kamboj with Bumrah and Khan India's senior spinner R Ashwin has spoken highly of Kamboj. On his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, 'The appreciable thing about Anshul is that he understands the plan. Many fast bowlers just say they want to express themselves, but Anshul knows the plan and executes it well. Very few bowlers have this quality. Zaheer Khan had it, Bumrah has it, and now Anshul shows that understanding too.' Ashwin played with Kamboj at CSK in IPL 2025. He also highlighted Kamboj's technical strengths. 'He has a very good tappa, a very upright seam position, and he doesn't miss his length. I saw that in the IPL. If you bring him into the playing XI with Bumrah and Siraj, this will be a serious bowling attack.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD He also reminded fans of Kamboj's Ranji Trophy heroics. 'People will say Anshul hasn't played in England, but he was there on the A tour. He is in cracking form in first-class cricket, averaging around 13, and he has already bowled long spells. You need that in England.' Kamboj says McGrath is an inspiration Speaking about his journey, Kamboj said in an earlier interview, 'I liked cricket from the very beginning. My father also liked it. So even in my local area when I had free time, I would go and play cricket. When I was 12 years old I started playing professional cricket. From that point on, I tried hard as a fast bowler. My dad played an important role, he supported me. My family has been very supportive. All coaches have helped. When you get this kind of support, you can push your limits.' 'When I started cricket, my travel was a lot. I used to travel from my village for an hour to reach the ground for training. Growing up, I was inspired by Glen McGrath's consistency. I also try to do the same thing. Keep things simple and try to hit the good areas and good line.' #TeamIndia's newest addition, #AnshulKamboj, opens up about his inspiring journey to the top! 👏🏻 Should the young seamer get his chance in the 4th Test vs England? 👀#ENGvIND | 4th Test starts WED, 23rd JULY, 2:30 PM | Streaming on JioHotstar! — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) July 21, 2025 STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

'Rishabh Pant is the backbone of the team': Suresh Raina

(AP Photo) At just 27, Rishabh Pant has become one of India's most crucial assets in Test cricket—whether he's behind the stumps or not. A finger injury sustained during the third Test at Lord's ruled him out of wicketkeeping duties for the remainder of the match. But the team management's reported willingness to consider him solely as a batter for the Manchester Test speaks volumes about Pant's stature in red-ball cricket. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Few wicketkeepers command such a distinction. Even legends like Kumar Sangakkara and AB de Villiers made a gradual shift to full-time batting roles later in their careers. Pant, however, is already earning that consideration at 27—right in the thick of his physical and creative prime. Since debuting in 2018, Pant has delivered defining knocks across the globe: a century at The Oval, a counterpunching gem in Sydney, and the unforgettable 89* at Brisbane. His away record rivals that of the finest Indian keeper-batters. But what truly separates Pant from others is how he shapes the outcome of matches. He not only endures difficult phases but often seizes them with game-changing clarity. Injuries, rain, availability concerns: Team India on edge in Manchester | Exclusive updates ahead of 4th Test As Sanjay Manjrekar observed, 'What I loved in this series was Rishabh Pant showing that he can also bat like Cheteshwar Pujara. There is a solid defence. There is a temperament to play the waiting game. He is not just a dasher anymore.' That transformation has elevated Pant's value as a red-ball cricketer. The unwavering trust shown by team management—right from his traumatic car accident in 2022 to his successful return in IPL 2024—has only grown stronger. His dedication to fitness and tactical acumen has been acknowledged widely. India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate recently stated, 'I don't think one is going to keep Rishabh out of the Test, no matter what. He batted with quite a lot of pain in the third Test and it's only going to get easier and easier on his finger.' 'Keeping is obviously the last part of the process to make sure that he can keep.' Heading into the fifth Test against England, the idea of playing him purely as a batter is not just a stopgap—it's a tactical decision. Anshul Kamboj Joins India Nets After Nitish's Injury | Debut Incoming at Manchester? In an era where India has experimented with multiple keeper-batters, Pant has stood out with consistent and match-winning contributions. Even without the gloves, his place in the XI feels unquestioned—an extremely rare position in Indian Test cricket. Suresh Raina praised Pant, saying, 'Rishabh is the backbone of the team. He keeps the energy going from behind the stumps, helping with bowlers like Jadeja and Washington. But when he comes on to bat, no matter the situation, he plays freely. Even the opposition fielders take a step back. There's no stopping him.' As India brace for a must-win showdown at Old Trafford, Pant's presence could provide the middle order with much-needed stability—especially after a lacklustre outing by several senior batters at Lord's. His aggressive instincts against the second new ball could prove decisive in swinging momentum. Major Update on Rishabh Pant's Injury | All Set for 4th Test? | India vs England Raina further added, 'He is a once in a generation player who got the backing of his captain and selectors. The way Rohit Sharma supported him, gave him liberty to play his natural game, that is where the magic lies.' Regardless of whether he features as a specialist batter or a keeper, the mere discussion around Pant's dual threat marks a new milestone in his journey. From a bold youngster to now being hailed as India's greatest Test wicketkeeper, Pant is moving into an elite bracket—where performance, not position, earns you your spot. 'His off-stump game, the one-handed sixes, the defence and shots in the 'V'—all of it speaks to how clear his mind is,' Raina noted. 'Even in tough spells, like against Brydon Carse and Ben Stokes, he manoeuvred them smartly, waiting for his moment.' Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
