Divers search water for Fraser Coast man missing at Boondooma Dam
The search for a Fraser Coast man missing at a dam in Queensland's South Burnett has entered its second day.
The 74-year-old was last seen in an inflatable dinghy on Boondooma Dam in Proston, about 340 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, about 5:45am on Thursday.
The dinghy was spotted with its motor still running close to the dam's shoreline about 9:15am.
A search and rescue operation is underway with the assistance of the State Emergency Service (SES), dam personnel and aerial assets.
Inspector Scott Stahlhut from the Queensland Police patrol group said a large search was being conducted on the shoreline of the dam and in the water.
"Today we've deployed our dive squad, and we're using sonar technology at the present time in an effort to locate the missing gentleman," he said.
"There is a chance that this gentleman may have made it to shore.
"We're keeping our options open and we're hoping for the best outcome."
Police believe the missing man regularly visited Boondooma Dam and was fishing in the Little Cove section when he went missing.
Inspector Stahlhut said locals had been assisting in the search.
"Those that did have appropriate craft and water vessels did assist [on Thursday] and are assisting today as well," he said.
"There's a lot of coves and a lot of areas where people actually visit for recreational purposes."
The man was last seen wearing a blue jacket and dark coloured pants.

Human remains located, police make arrest in search for Sunbury man Joshua Bishop
Police have found human remains and arrested a man as part of their investigation into missing Melbourne man Joshua Bishop. Public appeals for information about the disappearance of Mr Bishop, from Sunbury, were first made earlier this month. Missing Persons Squad detectives discovered the remains after executing a warrant at a home in Westmeadows on Saturday, but they are yet to be formally identified. A man aged 27 was taken into custody by police this afternoon and is expected to be interviewed in relation to the remains.
