Aaron Rodgers Reveals Thoughts on Facing Jets in Week 1
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not afraid to speak his mind, especially when someone crosses him. That was the case with the New York Jets this offseason when they released the four-time NFL MVP. How the Jets handled the whole situation did not sit well with Rodgers. Rodgers will return to MetLife Stadium to face the Jets in Week 1. For the first time, Rodgers revealed his thoughts on facing his former team to start the season. 'That's the way it goes sometimes,' Rodgers told Kyle Brandt of NFL Network. 'Did they have any inside information? I don't know. Who were they talking to? I don't know. But, start off with the Jets, then play Seattle, where DK (Metcalf) just came from… But I'm excited. Get to play the Jets, play the Packers, play the Bears, play the Vikings. It'll be fun.' According to former NFL offensive lineman Mark Schlereth, who is a close friend of Rodgers, the future Hall of Fame quarterback went on a long-winded rant about how dysfunctional the Jets' organization was during his two-year tenure. 'Aaron and I had a conversation about when he was with the Jets was how abysmal their running game was and how schematically it made no sense,' Schlereth said on The Stinkin Truth Podcast in June. 'I started the conversation, and then Aaron went on for about a 25-minute diatribe on just their run game.' During an interview with Pat McAfee in April, Rodgers recounted flying to New York to meet with Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, and that meeting going very poorly. 'I think we're gonna have this long conversation,' Rodgers said. 'I've flown across the country. Twenty seconds in … I'm talking to the GM about something and [Glenn] leans to the edge of his seat and goes, 'So, do you want to play football?' 'And I was like, 'Yeah, I'm interested.' 'Then he says, 'We're going in a different direction at quarterback.'' Glenn is not worried about the media attention heading into the Week 1 game against the Steelers at MetLife Stadium. 'This is the NFL. And, to me, every game there's a lot of noise because they're so critical — as far as wins and losses,' he said. 'We want to try and accumulate as many wins as we can, and I don't care who that opponent is.' Of course, the Jets will have a quarterback revenge game of their own on tap. The Steelers' first choice at quarterback this offseason was to re-sign Justin Fields, but when the Jets offered a two-year contract with $30 million in guarantees, the Steelers balked at the price, letting Fields walk out the door and turning their sights on Rodgers. Like his head coach, Fields had no reaction to seeing that the Jets are playing his former team to open the season. 'That's who we play Week 1. There wasn't really a thought to that,' Fields told reporters. Rodgers would love nothing more than to get back at his former team. The same could be said for the Jets organization, as well. Westfields open league account with convincing home victory
WESTFIELDS got their season off to a flying start as they overcame Pershore Town 3-1 in their opening Hellenic League Premier Division fixture. On a good day for Danny Moon's side the signings of Jamie Clarke, Adam Saunston, George Clarke, Ben Johns and Dan Bufton were confirmed before the match. Fields quickly opened their league account courtesy of another summer signing Adam Sauntson. Aidan Clark hit the crossbar before Archie Muirhead was brought down, resulting in Bailey Fuller scoring from the penalty spot. Clark almost put the game to bed before the break, but headed Kane Kahaki's cross off-target. Following the break Mason Godsall went close before youngster Arwyn Walby fired into the side-netting. Godsall then turned provider as his free-kick was headed home by Cam Davies to seal the points. Pershore were rewarded for their efforts with a late goal but could not prevent Fields from a comfortable win. The win ended a summer of change at Allpay Park as Danny Moon took over as manager following the resignation of Nic Morgan. Fields' chief executive Andy Morris said: 'We were sorry to receive Nick Morgan's resignation, he did a good job for the two years in charge and we wish him well in the future. 'Danny Moon has been appointed and has a vast knowledge of the local scene and good experience at this level. 'He is an ex-Westfields player and is aware of the club's standards. We are excited with the squad Danny has assembled, he has good staff and everyone is keen for the new season. 'The Hellenic Premier is a very strong league again this season and l can envisage a good start being important as we want to be a challenging for a top six finish.' Westfields completed their pre-season preparations on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat against Southern League Premier League side Evesham United. Fields goalkeeper Jack Oxenham made two smart saves to keep the visitors at bay during the first half. Westfields then took the lead early in the second half when Bailey Fuller cut in from the right hand side and curled a shot past the goalkeeper. Oxenham could nothing to stop the visitors equaliser, courtesy of a header at the near post. Both sides then introduced substitutes for the final 15 minutes and Evesham snatched the lead with a cracking 25-yard pile driver from Ion Richards which flew into the top corner. Westfields came all out for an equaliser and Evesham survived some anxious moments in the last few minutes to win the game by a close margin of 2-1.

Justin Fields showing no ill affects from his dislocated toe
Thursday, Justin Fields was carted off the practice field. Immediately, panic swept through the tormented Jets fan base, worried their starting quarterback was lost on the second day of training camp. Initially, he was concerned, too. His phone blew up. But, tests revealed it was only a dislocated toe on his right foot. 'God was looking out that day,' Fields said Tuesday, in his first comments since what turned out to be a minor injury. For the next few weeks, Fields will wear a protective plastic shield on the outside of his cleats to protect the toe. It didn't seem to hinder him in practice. He used his legs on a few occasions, as he practiced fully. The toe, Fields said, is 'working its way back to 100 percent.' 'You get those new installation plays in, so I think this time is very valuable in terms of getting repetitions, getting on the same page with your guys, especially when you're learning new concepts and stuff like that. 'So, definitely, I didn't want to miss much time, and that's why I was so eager to get back on the field and wanting to keep going.' The Jets are bringing back a familiar face. The team signed veteran kicker Nick Folk on Tuesday to solidify a position that has looked shaky early in training camp. Nick Folk, who kicked for the Jets from 2010-2016, was signed again by the team on July 29, 2025. AP Folk, 40, kicked for the Jets between 2010-16, making some huge kicks for the team — none bigger than a 32-yard game winner in their 2010 AFC wild-card playoff victory over the Colts. Chuck Vine, Folk's longtime friend and adviser, gave The Post this statement from Folk: 'It means a lot to be back with the Jets. This place shaped my career and holds a lot of great memories. But I'm not here to reminisce. I'm here to compete, lead and do my job at the highest level.' 'He is a very established kicker in this league,' head coach Aaron Glenn said. 'When you go back and you look at his stats from the last couple of years, they've been above board. … I'm happy that he chose us to be a part of what we're trying to do.
