Followed rules, says BJP's Amit Malviya in reply to Bengal commission

'It is respectfully submitted that the tweet does not disclose the identity of the victim in any manner. The image used in the tweet was deliberately and entirely blurred and no personal details such as the name, address, or particulars of the victim or her family were revealed,' Malviya, head of the BJP's national information technology cell, said in his reply to the show cause notice the commission sent him on June 20 after taking suo motu cognizance of his June 19 post on X.
The commission said the minor could be easily identified despite an effort to digitally blur her face and saw this as a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act.
In his reply, which he shared on social media, Malviya wrote: 'As such, the tweet does not violate any provisions of applicable law, including the POCSO Act, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the guidelines issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). Additionally, the tweet is in complete consonance with the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Nipun Saxena vs Union of India, (2019) 2 SCC 703, which emphasized safeguarding the identity and privacy of victims of sexual offences.'
In his June 9 post, Malviya alleged that the incident had a communal angle.
He wrote: '...Mamata Banerjee's governance has been an unmitigated disaster for women's safety. Worse still, the administration is suppressing the incident, citing 'communal sensitivity' — because the victim is Hindu and the accused are Muslim. This is not secularism. This is state-sponsored injustice...'
The West Bengal police issued a rebuttal on X on June 20, calling Malviya's allegation a lie and stating that post mortem examination had revealed that the minor died after consuming poison and there was no evidence of sexual assault whatsoever.
Malviya stuck to his allegation in his reply to the commission.
He wrote: 'The intent of the tweet was to highlight the deteriorating law and order situation in the state of West Bengal and the increasing incidents of crimes against women....the tweet was made in good faith, in public interest, and in furtherance of constitutional freedoms, and not in violation of any legal provisions, as alleged.'
'It is also pertinent to mention that the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo-moto cognizance of the incident, thereby recognizing the gravity of the offence referred to in the tweet,' he added.
No member of the commission made any statement on Malviya's reply till Monday evening.

All political parties, including the BJP, participated and voiced their opinions,' he said. 'After the Congress government, did Prime Minister Vajpayee, during his six-year tenure, or Prime Minister Modi, during his 11-year rule, ever hold talks with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister about reclaiming Katchatheevu? If Katchatheevu was truly the root cause of the fishermen's problems, the Indian government should have raised this with Sri Lanka,' Mr. Selvaperunthagai added. He said: 'Tamil Nadu fishermen are not arrested near Katchatheevu. Instead, they are arrested when they unintentionally cross the maritime boundary into Sri Lankan waters, especially during nighttime fishing. Man marrying & harassing minor held under Pocso
Nashik: The Bhadrakali police arrested a man (25) on Friday evening for marrying a minor girl and harassing her. The arrest was made under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanahita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The Bhadrakali police stated that the victim (17) registered a complaint with them on Friday evening. According to the complainant, her father-in-law threatened her parents to marry their minor daughter to his son. The father-in-law wielded immense influence in their community. After the forced marriage, the complainant's husband maintained physical relations with her, after which she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy on June 1. Meanwhile, the husband and his four other relatives continued to harass her physically. The police said, "After the girl returned to her parents, she decided to register a complaint against her husband and the other 4 relatives. We took action and arrested her husband. However, his parents and four other accused are yet to be traced and arrested." Apart from the charges under Pocso, the police have registered a case against the accused for rape, abduction, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the BNS. The police are also investigating where the girl delivered the baby and why doctors did not raise alarm over her age.

CM: BJP govt outperformed Cong in 18 mths
Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Saturday said his govt performed better than the previous Congress regime led by Ashok Gehlot, describing the difference as "sleight of hand and magic" versus "working with honesty and hard work. " Speaking at the 29th state-level Bhamashah award ceremony at a private school in the city, Sharma backed his claims of better governance with statistics. "What the Congress govt couldn't achieve in five years, our govt accomplished in just one-and-a-half years," he said. The chief minister reeled off achievements, especially in education and welfare schemes. He said the current BJP govt has distributed 10 lakh bicycles in the 18 months of its tenure, outpacing the previous govt's distribution of 10.3 lakh during their five-year term. On skilling the youth, the BJP govt has trained over 3 lakh persons, compared to the Congress govt's 2.35 lakh in five years, he claimed. The student scooter distribution scheme has also seen marked improvement, with about 30,000 scooters distributed by the current administration against 6,400 in previous Congress govt's first 18 months and about 21,000 in their full term. Sharma also highlighted the successful distribution of tablets and laptops to over 88,000 students by his govt. "The opposition leaders find it very difficult to hear when the comparison is made," Sharma remarked, adding that his cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs and public representatives deserve recognition for their hard work.
