Oman, Mauritania explore archives partnership

MUSCAT: Dr Hamed bin Mohammed al Dhawyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), on Monday received Mokhtar El Hosseinou Lam, Minister in charge of the General Secretariat of the Government in Mauritania, and his accompanying delegation. The Mauritanian delegation toured the National Records and Archives Authority as part of its official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Dhawyani and El Hosseinou Lam discussed various aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of records, archives and historical studies.
The two sides looked into means of enhancing coordination in organising conferences, scholarly seminars and exhibitions. The Mauritanian delegation had a close look at the Sultanate of Oman's experience in the conservation and management of electronic documents, records and archives. The delegation saw a visual presentation about the NRAA, its main objectives, specialisations and the missions it has undertaken so far. It also took note of the historical treasures and components of cultural heritage that abound in the Sultanate of Oman. — ONA

MUSCAT: Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash'shura, received a delegation from the Mauritanian government, headed by Mokhtar El Housseinou Lam, Minister in charge of the General Secretariat of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Supervisor of the National Documentation Authority, along with his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, particularly those related to the long-standing and close relations between the two countries and their peoples, and ways to further strengthen them in a manner that serves the interests of both nations. Al Maawali emphasised the important role that archives and documentation institutions play globally in collection, preservation and record-keeping. He also praised the significant efforts of the National Records and Archives Authority in the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting was attended by Dr Hamed bin Mohammed al Dhawyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority, along with several members of the Majlis Ash'shura. Following the meeting, the visiting delegation toured various facilities of the Council, attended part of a regular session, and visited the Oman Council Library, where they were introduced to some of the modern technologies used in the Council's operations and activities.

Omani Mission attends reception for heads of Haj delegations

MECCA: The Omani Haj Mission on Saturday participated in the annual reception hosted, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), for the heads of Haj missions and delegations and pilgrim affairs offices who performed Haj this year. The Sultanate of Oman was represented by Ahmed bin Saleh al Rashdi, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and Head of the Omani Haj Mission. Al Rashdi conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to the Saudi leadership for their efforts in organizing the pilgrimage. He praised the distinguished organization and quality facilities provided by the Saudi authorities during the Hajj season which contributed to a seamless performance of the rituals. — ONA
