Glasgow Times24-06-2025
The Glenhead Tavern on Dunbarton Road in Duntocher shut its doors in January 2025.
However, it has now been revealed that the local watering hole will reopen its doors soon.
The revamp of the boozer is being undertaken by Heineken-owned Star Pubs and new licensee, Clydebank resident Brian Carnochan, who also runs The Grant Arms in Glasgow.

Work on the pub is expected to start on June 30, and bosses hope the venue will be open by mid-August.

The revamp is also expected to create 11 new jobs in the area.
As part of the works, the outside of the pub will be painted a classic cream colour alongside a bright dark green.
(Image: Supplied) New lights and signage will also be installed on the outside of the boozer.
Meanwhile, an extensive interior revamp will upgrade the bar with a 'smart new decor'.
The design will incorporate William Morris-style wallpaper, wood panelling and deep buttoned back banquette seating.
Other improvements include adding an accessible toilet and putting in an internal walkway between the bar and lounge.
The layout will enable the pub to cater for the whole community and multiple occasions.
It will have a comfortable lounge/dining area with a stage for entertainment, a traditional public bar and one of the best sports zones in the vicinity, kitted out with all-new darts, pool and screens showing Sky, TNT and Premier Sports.

Meanwhile, the lounge bar will be designed to convert into a function space for celebrations and gatherings.
Following the refurbishment, Brian is hoping to put The Glenhead Tavern back on the map for freshly prepared grub and drinks.
In addition, Brian will launch a host of activities to bring people together and reinstate the venue as a hub of local life.
Plans include afternoon entertainment, kids' karaoke, traditional pub games, such as dominoes, and family-oriented events at times like Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
He said: 'I love seeing people having a good time.
"I remember The Glenhead Tavern when it was a thriving local. Sadly, it's lost its way in recent years.
"It's been much missed, and there's been a lot of concern for its future.
"My aim is to restore it to its glory days when it was the place to go. The designs are spot-on, and it will look fantastic when the works are completed.'
Iain Gibson, Star Pubs' business development manager, added: 'We're delighted to be joining forces with Brian to bring such a popular pub back to life.
"He knows the area well and his experience and enthusiasm are just what's required.
"Brian's plans tick all the boxes; there will be lots of reasons to visit The Glenhead Tavern and something for everyone.'

Fox's makes huge change to popular chocolate bars for first time in 10 years – and they're on supermarket shelves now

FOX'S has has made a huge change to one of its popular chocolate bars for the first time in a decade - and they're on supermarket shelves now. The iconic biscuit-makers, which started making brandy snaps in 1853, has brought out a brand new edition of its Rocky bars. 1 Fox's has launched all-new Rocky biscuits and they're available in Asda stores now (Credit: Newfoodsuk) The lunchbox favourites already come in a range of flavours including chocolate, caramel, orange, mint, and salted caramel. However, Fox's has now launched new Rocky Stack'd sandwich bars, in what it said was a "fresh twist" for the range. The new bars combine two biscuits with a layer of cream sandwiched in between, and covered in milk chocolate. They're available in two flavours - chocolate cream and vanilla cream. Shoppers have already spotted the treats on supermarket shelves, after they launched exclusively in Asda stores on July 26. The supermarket is currently selling them on offer at 96p for a six-pack. Fox's confirmed that the bars would be rolled out to other major supermarkets from September 7, and will retail at £1.50 for a six-pack. Fox's Burton Company said it was the first "major innovation" to its Rocky bars, which were first launched in the 1990s, in 10 years. Some fans who have already tried the biscuits pointed out that they're very similar to another iconic Fox's treat - the Fox's Favourites Classics. "They taste exactly like a classic but they are only 96p so can't complain," one fan commented on Facebook. Another said the new bars were "basically a rebranded Fox's Classic". FBC's trade marketing director David Hebson said: 'Rocky has always stood for quality and great taste, and we're proud to be one of the top household names in the biscuit category. "With STACK'd, we're doubling down on those values while giving shoppers the 'new news' they're craving in the chocolate biscuit bar aisle. 'This is all about offering a more indulgent and satisfying option – whether it's evening snacking or an on-the-go treat – and we believe it gives retailers a powerful new reason to back the Rocky brand.' Other new Fox's flavours The launch comes after Fox's jumped on the Dubai-style chocolate trend earlier this year, launching new biscuits inspired by the viral flavour. Fox's Chocolatey Dubai Style Pistachio Indulgent Creams launched in Tesco stores this summer, selling for £2.35 for Clubcard members. If you don't have a Clubcard, the limited edition biscuits are £3 per pack. Each pack contains eight of biscuits, featuring a chocolate-encased shortcake with creamy centre and crispy pistachio filling made using real nuts. Meanwhile, Fox's made a change to its much-loved Party Rings in April this year - marking the first shake-up in the biscuits' 42-year history. The brand launched "Under the Sea Minis", which featured "fun, fish shapes" instead of the classic ring, exclusively in Asda stores for 12 weeks. Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
