Woman claims racism in Australia is next level: 'You can only ignore something for so long before action needs to be taken'
Nikki Stewart shared a video on TikTok on Monday, and described racism in Australia as 'next level'.
Ms Stewart said many Australians still refuse to see non-white people as truly belonging to the country.
'The more time I spend on the internet, the more I realise just how racist Australia is,' she said.
'All you need to warrant racism against you is to just be someone who is not white, come on the internet, or just claim to be an Aussie - I guarantee you there will be someone in the comments saying "where's the Aussie, I don't see an Aussie in the room with us".'
She then asked 'what does an Aussie look like?'.
'See, I'm an Aussie because I'm an Australia citizen, but according to you I'm not because I'm not white,' she said.
'Sometimes I try to stay off the internet because of this.
'I was so ignorant to it until I started seeing every single post that involved someone proudly claiming to be Aussie who isn't white being filled with the most vile and racist comments.
'You can only ignore something for so long before action needs to be taken,' she said.
'Australia is a beautiful country and we should all feel welcomed, not be subjected to racism just because we don't fit into a specific race.'

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, nearly 28 per cent of the population was born overseas.
People from over 190 countries now call Australia home, with more than 300 languages are spoken.

An Australian is legally defined as someone who holds Australian citizenship, whether by birth, descent, or naturalisation.

A flight attendant has shared two forms of common passenger behaviour that 'send her over the edge' when she's having a particularly 'bad day.' Dallas-based air hostess Cher Killough, who has worked in the industry for six years, recently took to TikTok to highlight disruptive in-flight habits that often leave her 'clenching' her jaw. Sharing a video to her page, @cherdallas, the cabin crew noted she becomes frustrated when a passenger ignores crucial safety instructions because a previous flight attendant either turned a blind eye or allowed them to do so. She added: 'Well, the last flight attendant wasn't doing her job. I have to subtly argue and just explain the reason - which normally I'm fine with doing - but if I'm already having a long day, this will have me in the galley begging God for some strength.' Cher then revealed her second in-flight gripe: passengers who continue to 'pop open' the bins after she informed them 'several times' they are full and cannot be used. She explained: 'When the bins are full and I've closed it, somebody pops it open after I've said: "If it's closed, it's full," like seven times... they pop it open and they leave it open.' The flight attendant said this often results in a goose chase, which sees her having to return to the bin a number of times to close it as passengers continue to throw their rubbish away. Cher stressed the importance of being able to have 'patience' to effectively do her job and make sure everyone on board is safe, but jokingly added that when 'it's been a long day,' she is often forced to 'say a prayer' and 'ask for help.'
