Bihar: YouTuber Manish Kashyap joins Jan Suraaj
Kashyap, known for raising public issues through social media, described his decision as a step toward 'becoming the answer' for real change in Bihar.
Welcoming Kashyap in Patna, Jan Suraaj architect Prashant Kishor said, 'Manish Kashyap is not just a leader or YouTuber; he wants to play his role in bringing system change in Bihar. He has always stood with those who have been wronged in the state. His aim is to contribute to society, not to exploit it. His joining indicates that the talk of honesty in politics and system change is now having an impact on the ground.'
Kashyap said, 'To bring real change in Bihar, it is not enough to only ask questions; one must become the answer. With this thought, I am joining Jan Suraaj.'
He added, 'Prashant Kishor has taken the initiative to look at society beyond the prism of caste and religion and has spread the message of system change. I want to dedicate myself to public service by joining him.'
Prashant Kishor, addressing supporters, added, 'We should become the voice of all YouTubers and the youth of Bihar. Manish Kashyap and I have not come here to contest elections. Manish is a young man who has created his identity through his talent; his father is not an MLA or minister. He will play a big role in the fight for system change. He is not joining a party but a family.'

BJP MLA says home dept has failed as ‘protector of culture'
MUMBAI: Ruling party MLAs caught the state government off guard on Monday by sharply criticising the home department headed by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on several fronts, including faltering in its role as the 'protector of culture'. BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar (Credit: ) Leading the charge was BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, who while participating in the debate on supplementary demands in state Assembly, mentioned a leading hotel chain that was renting out rooms on an hourly basis, across the state. He said the chain operated hotels around 20km from cities and towns, where regular tourists would never patronise them. Clearly, he alleged, they were aimed at a specific clientele engaging in questionable activities. 'No tourist would dare to book these hotels as they are neither convenient, nor within reach. The 'sanskruti rakshak' (protector of culture) government should take note of this. The hotels are operated without any permission from local bodies,' Mungantiwar said. He also pointed to the rise in betting on cricket matches, and demanded that the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act be amended to include stricter punishment. On a different note, Mungantiwar said more than 5,500 files of police officers and personnel are pending with the office of the director general of police, for approval of housing loans. 'Police employees have not been able to pay for flats they booked as their loans have not been cleared under the DG loan scheme. The files have been gathering dust in Mantralaya,' he said. There was more criticism for the home department. Shiv Sena MLA from Jalna, Arjun Khotkar, slammed the state government over law and order and industrial policies. 'Although chief minister Devendraji Fadnavis has been making an effort to maintain law and order, the machinery does not fall in line. The police are helpless as they have not been equipped with modern technology,' he said. 'As a result, the crime rate has increased, with rampant instances of dacoity, loot and attacks on individuals.' Khotkar added that although the state government claims to have helped bring down electricity bills for industries, the price of power has risen 'and I can prove this on paper'. He remarked, 'The state government has established Chandrapur as a steel hub, but the steel industry in Jalna is in bad shape.' Opposition MLAs such as Bhaskar Jadhav, Amit Deshmukh and Rohit Pawar also took a few digs at the government¸ alleging deteriorating law and order and poor fiscal discipline of the state's economy. Jadhav said bags full of documents had been stolen from his car at Shivaji Park 18 months ago, but the culprits are still at large.

"If anyone has problem with removal of 350 illegal Bangladeshis, they will have to bear it": CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Kokrajhar (Assam) [India], July 8 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday strongly defended the ongoing eviction drive in parts of the state, reiterating the government's commitment to removing what he termed as 'illegal Bangladeshis'. Interacting with media in Kokrajhar, CM Sarma said, 'Some people from Karimganj, Dhubri, Chappar, and Silchar are going and settling in Lakhimpur. They have been evicted to protect the freedom and land rights of the local people of Lakhimpur.' He further stated that the BJP government's eviction campaign will not be halted under political pressure. 'If anyone has a problem with the removal of 350 illegal Bangladeshis, they will have to bear it. Many people have been martyred in the past in the fight to drive Bangladeshis,' Sarma said. The Chief Minister also accused opposition leaders of politicising the issue. 'Now they are doing politics in the name of this girl to provide security to Bangladeshis. Their objective is to stop the BJP's eviction campaign, but the BJP has gone ahead with it,' he added. Sarma emphasized that the campaign will continue in other parts of the state, including Dhubri. 'It will happen tomorrow in Dhubri's Chappar. No outsider should be allowed to enter Bodoland,' he declared. Earlier on July 5, CM Sarma informed that 18 Bangladeshis, living without valid documents in Assam, were pushed back. He said the pushbacks were done from the Cachar and Sribhumi districts. 'Oh look who's going back to their home? In Assam, we welcome guests with open arms but those trying to illegally prolong their stay are treated with the special gesture of PUSHBACK,' Sarma said in a post on X. '18 illegal Bangladeshis pushed back today in wee hours from Cachar and Sribhumi,' he added. (ANI)

‘If Nishads don't get SC quota soon, BJP may face difficulties in 2027 polls': UP Minister
WHEN THE BJP can resolve all difficult issues – be it Article 370 or building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya – what is holding it back from providing Scheduled Caste (SC) reservation to the Nishad community, the ruling party's ally and Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad told The Indian Express. The state Fisheries Minister, who is also the NISHAD Party chief, said the BJP should fulfil the long-pending demand soon or it may face 'difficulties' in the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The Nishads, a boating and fishing community, are currently counted among the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the state. 'The thing is that the BJP has found solutions to all difficult issues, be it Article 370 or 10 per cent upper caste reservation (for the economically backward in general category) even when it was not promised in the Constitution, women reservation and even on the topic of faith i.e. construction of Ram Temple. So what is keeping it from fulfilling its promise to the fishermen community?' said Nishad. The minister said the BJP had promised SC reservation to Nishad sub-castes because of which he aligned with it but now it is becoming difficult for him to convince his community about the long delay despite being in the government. 'We are only part of the government, that is all. Actual decision-making lies with the BJP, which had come out with its separate vision for the Nishad community…,' he said. 'BJP yahi kehke layi thi, SP aur BSP ne galat kiya. Par jo Bhagwan ko paar utarne wale hain, weh apna hissa mang rahe hain. Hum jawab nahin de pa rahe hain (The BJP had brought us along saying that the SP and BSP did wrong. But now the community which helped Lord [Ram] is asking for its rights, and we are unable to answer them),' said Nishad, who has for long been raising the demand for SC reservation for 17 sub-castes of the community. The delay in giving SC quota to the Nishads, Sanjay Nishad said, had resulted in the shifting of votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the community fell for the 'false promises of the SP'. And if this continued, it would make things difficult for the BJP and allies in the next Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, he said. 'The Nishad community constitutes 18 per cent of Uttar Pradesh. They voted for us in 2019 on this promise. But in 2024, the INDIA bloc was able to take their votes with false promises and if this continues then the community would distance itself,' he said. 'BJP jaldi ise door kare nahi to 2027 mein mushkil ho sakta hai (The BJP should resolve this soon or there might be difficulties in 2027).' In the 2022 Assembly elections, the NISHAD party, in alliance with BJP, was able to win six Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh but failed to win a single seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Nishad community is primarily found in regions alongside rivers, especially in eastern and central Uttar Pradesh, including areas surrounding Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, and Varanasi, among others.
