Bizarre Louis Munteanu transfer twist after Celtic 'bid' as 'bored' Cluj star tackles £15.5m deal amid big if from boss
Irked Louis Munteanu has tackled speculation over his Cluj future amid reports in Romania about an offer from Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers has admitted he is keen to add more firepower to his side this summer - and sources in Romania claim that the Hoops have seen an offer of just under £6.9million booted out by the Transylvania based club.
Following the murmurs around the Scottish Premiership champions, owner Nelutu Varga declared that an unnamed club from France had an £15.5m offer accepted.
He told Pro Sport: "I won't say the club, because that's how we agreed. They are professionals and they want to present him, as is normal. I think the transfer will be resolved in a few days."
However, the 21-year-old now insists he is "bored" about the speculation on his future - which only intensified after he missed the league clash with Rapid Bucharest on Sunday.
Speaking post-match, he said: "I'm a little behind with my preparation, but with training I hope to catch up. It's not very pleasant on the bench, but that's it, I'll do my job.
"If the thought of a transfer flew into my head, I would no longer be here. The thought is not in my head."
Pushed on the comments from his chairman, he went on: "I want to tell you honestly, I'm bored of so many numbers being discussed. I'm here at Cluj."
Cluj boss Dan Petrescu also appeared to question if an offer was on the table, admitting he expected the frontman to be involved in the Europa League qualification clash with Lugano on Thursday.
He said: "I spoke to the player, the boy's behaviour is beyond my expectations, I tell you honestly.
"He's very serious, he wants to play, he doesn't think he's going to get injured. I was afraid to put him in, if he really has an offer, but he wants to play.
"I want Louis Munteanu to stay, but if he has a very good offer, I wish him luck."

Tottenham targeting loan move for Portugal midfielder Joao Palhinha
Palhinha joined Bayern from Fulham last summer in a deal worth up to £47.4million, but endured a difficult debut campaign in Germany. The Portugal midfielder struggled with injury problems and only made six starts in the Bundesliga when fit under Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, which has opened the door for a temporary move back to London with Tottenham. Spurs have plenty of options in midfield, but have multiple competitions to deal with in the 2025-26 season after their Europa League victory in May secured Champions League qualification and the addition of Palhinha would be a boost for new head coach Thomas Frank. Palhinha, who turned 30 earlier this month, was linked with a transfer to Tottenham before he signed for Bayern. The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder enjoyed a successful two years at Fulham, where he made 79 appearances and scored eight times to become a fan favourite at Craven Cottage. Spurs secured the services of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham at the start of July, but failed in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White and will now hope to land Palhinha on a season-long loan.

Askou on Miller, 'being brave' & 'harmonic' Motherwell
Manager Jens Berthel Askou has been speaking to the media prior to Motherwell's Scottish Premiership opener at home to Rangers on are the key lines:On whether the club has accepted a bid for Lennon Miller, Askou says: "That is a question not for me but for the board."Askou would not reveal how many clubs are interested in the teenage midfielder, but says Miller could be involved on adds: "He was partially in training today and will be almost full training tomorrow. Then we'll take a decision on whether it's time for him to be part of the team again on Saturday or whether it's too late while all the other things are working in background."On his team's form going into Saturday's match, Askou says they are getting "better and better" but knows there is "still work to be done". "Recent performances have been quite solid, although we know there are areas we haven't practised that much," he adds. "We'll be tested on these areas on Saturday."Askou says his current group are "quite harmonic", but he still wants to add to his squad: "We need to add more depth, more quality and more competition."On facing Rangers: "We know it'll be a very big test against a top side who performed really well [against Panathinaikos]. We know we're not favourites, but it doesn't mean we can't make a result and good performance."On his expectations for the season, Askou's aim is to finish in the top six: "We want to reach out for things and be brave while doing that and not protective and defensive. We'll see how far it takes us."And on what he wants from his team on Saturday: "I expect us to do what we want to do and not let the level of Rangers stress us and take away our courage to do what we want to do and what we know we're best at, instead of trying to do it very basically and with fear."

Rangers see Champions League rivals Plzen force fixture to be axed
Raging boss Miroslav Koubek took his case to the authorities after booking a date in the third qualifying round Viktoria Plzen have been granted a fixture postponement ahead of facing Rangers in the Champions League after taking their case to the Czech football authorities. Plzen earned the right to face the Light Blues after coming from behind in the third qualifying round to edge past Swiss outfit Servette 3-2 over two legs They will now travel to Glasgow next Tuesday to take on a Light Blues side - but going into the crucial showdown Viktoria Plzen boss Miroslav Koubek has bemoaned their lack of preparation time before facing Russell Martin's side. Rangers begin their Premiership campaign with a trip to Fir Park to face Motherwell on Saturday - just 90 minutes after Plzen's fixture with Mlada Boleslav. But after taking the row to the governing body, the club have seen the game axed. Club spokesman Václav Hanzlík said: "Due to Tuesday's match in Glasgow and the associated travel, we have asked the LFA and Mladá Boleslav to postpone Saturday's match. "We greatly appreciate that both sides agreed and we can now fully concentrate on the very important match of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, which is important due to the coefficient for all of Czech football." The loser of the clash will be guaranteed group stage football until Christmas at least, with the team that is knocked out dropping into the revamped group phase of the Europa League. Irked Koubek laid out an impassioned case for why the game should be called off following their European progress. He said: "The players are euphoric, but our schedule is a killer. "I don't know if I should even unpack my bags, there's no time for anything, not even to study Rangers. "Some associations make it easier for clubs and postpone their league round at such a moment. With us, it is automatic only in the case of the play-offs. "We will certainly be asking the question and I would welcome some help from the Czech football authorities. "It's extremely complicated for us now. We don't meet the requirement set by FIFA that players have 72 hours of rest between matches. We now finish at midnight on Wednesday night and are supposed to play at 5pm on Saturday. "We fly home on Thursday, we will leave for Mlada Boleslav on Friday, we will be home on Sunday and we will fly again on Monday. "The players wanted to celebrate, but I told them they weren't even allowed a single beer. I ordered them to go straight to bed."
