Ludhiana: Man booked for raping minor girl for over one year
The accused have been identified as Aman of Baba Namdev Colony and his father-in-law Ali. The victim stated that the accused promised to marry her once she turns 18.
The FIR has been lodged following the statement of the grandmother of the victim.
The complainant stated that her granddaughter, 16, was unwell and complained of abdominal pain. When she asked, the girl told her that the accused Aman has been raping over for about one year on the pretext of marriage.
The complainant added that when she went to the house of the accused for a talk about the girl. She was shocked when found out that the accused Aman was already married. He had concealed his marriage to establish physical relations with the girl.
The woman added that later Ali, father-in-law of the accused, started threatening them. The accused sent several voice notes on WhatsApp threatening her for not filing a police complaint.
Sub-inspector Kamaljit Singh, investigating officer from Tibba police station said that soon after receiving a complaint the police booked the accused under Sections 64 (rape), 61 (2) (Criminal conspiracy) of the BNS and Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A hunt is on for the arrest of the accused.

Three, including wife, held for murder in Yadadri
Three individuals, including the victim's wife, were arrested for the murder of a man in Pallerla village, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district that was reported on Sunday, July 13. The accused were identified as Gunti Sai Kumar, 33, a farmer from Pallepahad village in Turkapally mandal; Vasthapula Swathi, 35, a private employee and wife of the deceased, from Pallerla village; and Pottepaka Mahesh, 33, a tea stall owner from Atmakur mandal. A fourth accused, Cheemala Ramalinga Swamy, 33, a resident of Thathanagar in Bhongir town, is absconding. Police said Sai Kumar and Swathi first became acquainted between 2017 and 2018 while working in neighbouring shops in Bhongir. Their contact resumed in February 2024. Meanwhile, Swathi's husband, who worked as a manager at a tractor showroom, was involved in a relationship with Savitha, the wife of Mahesh. Mahesh, upset over this, allegedly joined the plan to kill him. Swathi was reportedly facing mental and physical harassment from her husband after confronting him over the affair. On the night of July 13, the victim was returning home from Bhongir on a two-wheeler with a friend, Veerababu. The accused, using a car hired by Sai Kumar with help from the absconding accused, followed the bike. At around 11.15 p.m., on the outskirts of Katepally village along the Raigiri–Mothkur road, they rammed into the bike and dragged it for nearly 120 feet. The man died on the spot. Veerababu was severely injured and taken to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. The police also added relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act to the case. All three accused were arrested from their homes and were produced before court for judicial remand. The search for the fourth accused is ongoing.

7.3cr fraud: Man who gave docus to open mule a/c held
1 2 Mumbai: A Chembur resident was recently arrested by south region cyber police in a Rs 7.3-crore investment fraud case for allegedly allowing his address to be used to open a bank account for a shell company to which part of the money was diverted. The victim, a 63-year-old south Mumbai businessman, was shown profits of Rs 31 crore in a virtual wallet. Police said the fraudsters asked the suspect, Rahul Gawli (41), to visit Goa, where they opened a bank account in a fake company's name and used his and another accused's documents for it. Gawli was assured of a monthly pay in exchange. The gang operated the company's account, to which the complainant sent Rs 5 lakh. The complainant lodged a police complaint on May 17 stating that he was added to a WhatsApp group through a link in Feb. A woman, Riya Bansal, and some other gang members pretended to be representatives of a private company that manages the portfolios of investors. In a WhatsApp message, Bansal told the businessman that they would invest his money in the primary market and that he would stand to earn huge profits. He was assured of a 10% monthly profit and was later added to another group for high-end customers. From March 7-May 6, he deposited Rs 7.3 crore. The complainant withdrew Rs 28 lakh, but when he tried to do it again, he failed. Bansal then told him he would have to pay an additional Rs 3.7 crore to withdraw money. This is when he realised he had been conned and approached police. A team comprising senior inspector Nankumar Gopale and inspector Suresh Bhoye is probing the case.

Pune Porsche Crash: Police To Challenge Juvenile Board's Decision To Try Accused As Minor
The Juvenile Justice Board rejected police's plea to treat the teenager in the Pune Porsche case as an adult for the trial. Police will challenge the decision in a higher court. The Pune city police have decided to challenge the Juvenile Justice Board 's decision, which allowed the 17-year-old boy accused in the Porsche car crash to be tried as a minor for the trial in the case, in a higher court. The accused allegedly drove a Porsche in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune in an inebriated state in May last year, mowing down two motorcycle-borne IT professionals – Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. The case sparked nationwide outrage when the boy was granted bail after just writing a 300-word essay on road safety, after which he was sent to an observation home. He was released on the orders of the Bombay High Court on June 25, 2024. Juvenile Board's Decision In Pune Porsche Case Police had filed an application before the Juvenile Justice Board, seeking that the child in conflict with the law be tried as an adult in this case, citing the 'heinous" nature of the crime. The police cited sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, arguing that not only were two persons crushed to death but there were also attempts to tamper with the evidence. However, the Juvenile Board on Tuesday rejected the plea by police to treat the boy as an adult for the trial. Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa said the intent behind Section 15 of the Juvenile Justice Act is fundamentally rooted in the principle of reformation for children in conflict with the law. Defence counsel Prashant Patil told news agency PTI that he opposed the prosecution's demand to treat the teenager as an adult. 'We had cited a Supreme Court Judgement – Shilpa Mittal Vs State in which the SC has defined what constitutes a heinous crime. The guidelines decided by the Supreme Court are binding on everyone. However, the plea by the prosecution is contrary to the apex court's judgement. We demanded that since the plea is contrary to the SC guidelines, it is not maintainable," he said. Patil argued that there was not a single section in the case that required a minimum punishment of seven years, hence the Board did not determine that the boy should be treated as an adult. The police will now challenge the decision in a higher court. Evidence Tampering Earlier this month, the prosecution told the court that attempts were made to swap blood samples at a second hospital to save the juvenile accused, but they were thwarted. The Pune police, who first got blood samples of the minor collected at the Sassoon Hospital, suspected that there was a possibility of tampering, as per the prosecution. The teenager's blood samples were later collected at the Aundh Government Hospital, but some of the other accused, including his parents, got news of it and approached hospital authorities to swap the samples. However, the doctors refused to cooperate and turned them away. At least 10 people, including the teenager's parents, were arrested in the case. The boy's mother is out on bail, but the remaining nine are currently in jail.
