Ajman records $2.63bln in construction contracts in 2024
Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the Department, highlighted that the value of the contracts saw significant growth compared to 2023, when it reached AED5.936 billion. He also emphasised Ajman's success in positioning itself as a model modern emirate that ensures a high quality of life for residents, visitors, and tourists while providing an ideal investment environment for successful and sustainable projects across various sectors.
He further noted that the rate of increase in the value of construction contracts recorded 62.66% compared to 2023, crediting continuous efforts, strategic planning, and forward-thinking policies aimed at enhancing service excellence in building permit issuance, expediting processes, and boosting the emirate's global competitiveness.

37,356 issued & renewed licenses in Sharjah during 2025 H1
Such data revealed the most significant developments and events witnessed by the economic sectors in Sharjah, as well as the measures and efforts undertaken by the Department across all sectors and activities. This release aimed at providing a comprehensive tool for stakeholders in the emirate's economic sectors and inform them of the most significant results achieved. Such thing confirms SEDD's efforts to achieve balanced and sustainable economic performance and enhance business continuity across various sectors. Thereof, the number of issued licenses during the first half of 2025 reached 4,359, with a 16% increase. On the other hand, the number of renewed licenses hit 32,997, a 7% increase over the same period last year. When analyzing the issued and renewed licenses in Sharjah during the first half of 2025 by type, it was clearly displayed that the commercial licenses took the first rank in the number of licenses issued and renewed in the emirate with a total of 23,945 licenses and a growth rate of 7% compared to the first half of last year. Then, it was followed by professional licenses with a total of 10,693 licenses with an increase of about 7%. On the other hand, the industrial licenses hit 1,924 ones, with a growth rate of 14%, while Eitimad licenses came in fourth with 522 licenses, and with a growth of 41%. Later on, the e-commerce licenses reached 272 ones, with a growth rate of 23% compared to the first half of last year. In addition, when distributing the completed licenses according to SEDD branches, the Industrial Areas Branch completed 16,904 licenses, with a growth of 9% compared to the first half of last year. Then, SEDD Headquarter completed 13,968 licenses, with an increase of 8%; whereas the Central Region Branch accomplished 3,620 licenses, with a growth of 6%. Likely, Khor Fakkan Branch realized 1,445 licenses, with a growth rate of 4%; while Kalba Branch completed 1,165 licenses, with a growth of 3%. Finally, Dibba Al Hisn Branch accomplished 254 licenses, with a growth of 3% compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, SEDD conducted 78,887 inspection campaigns on various economic establishments in the emirate during the first half of 2025. Also, the Department has dealt with many different cases of commercial protection complaints during the past period, each of which was fully resolved in cooperation with all concerned parties. Thus, the total number of commercial protection complaints reached 7,685, including 6,677 consumer protection complaints, 652 commercial fraud complaints, and 356 service agent complaints. The satisfaction rate with the department's consumer protection services for the first half of this year reached 78%. Regarding the data on the scales calibrated by type during the first half this year, the total number of "commercial and gold" scales reached 1,950, representing a growth rate of 56% compared to the same period last year. Commenting on that, His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, stated that the economic sectors in Sharjah are built on solid foundations of diversifying sources of income, focusing on developing key sectors, supporting and stimulating future economic activities, and developing and modernizing flexible legal frameworks that support businesses. This is done in cooperation with concerned partners from all sectors, to make the emirate a leading investment destination in the region. Sharjah Ruler approves allocation of 690 land plots for citizens in Khor Fakkan
Sharjah's Ruler on Monday approved the allocation of 690 land plots for Emirati citizens, furthering efforts to support local development and housing. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the Department of Planning and Survey to allocate the plots of land to citizens living in Khor Fakkan. The new directive includes 180 residential plots, 450 industrial plots, and 60 commercial plots in the Al Harai area. Work is already underway to level the land, with plans to distribute the plots to eligible beneficiaries within two months. As part of the development, a public park will also be constructed in the area to enhance community facilities. This announcement follows a similar initiative from November last year, when the Sharjah Ruler approved 160 plots for Khor Fakkan residents — 80 commercial plots along Harai Road and 80 industrial plots. Priority was given to citizens holding commercial and industrial licenses. Housing initiatives The announcement also comes on the heels of a broader housing support programme recently approved by the Ruler of Sharjah, endorsing Dh335 million in funding to assist critical housing cases across the emirate. A total of 431 families will benefit from this phase of the housing programme, all of whom fall under urgent housing needs. Earlier this year, on June 9, Sheikh Dr Sultan approved Dh100 million in compensation for owners of old homes in Al Madam who had previously been allocated new residences. He had previously approved a sum of Dh250,000 for each of the 200 owners whose old homes were replaced. Similarly, on January 21, Sheikh Dr Sultan approved the disbursement of Dh15 million to resolve construction delays affecting 70 government homes for Emirati citizens, following a temporary suspension of the project.

Ajman to adopt updated job classification system for public sector employees
Ajman government will adopt an updated job classification system, to ensure transparency in the evaluation of jobs and tasks in the public sector. This comes under a decision issued Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, representative of the Ruler of Ajman for Administrative and Financial Affairs. Several main and sub job groups have been created or modified in the system, to meet the needs of both existing and new government entities. In the education job group, three sub-groups were adopted: education, school administration, and student affairs. For the communication, promotion, and media job group, several sub-groups were created and modified, including: institutional communication and media, marketing, promotion and events, public relations, institutional partnerships, digital media, media documentation, editing and journalism, and photography. In the digital technology and data job group, a range of precise technical specialties were included, namely: Digital technology and data, information systems development and analysis, data science, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, information technology databases, cybersecurity, and technical support. The adoption of this updated system is based on amendments and developments introduced to the previous system issued under Decision No. (7) of 2021. The Department of Human Resources in Ajman will oversee the implementation of the system in government entities by issuing circulars, guides, and required forms. It shall submit reports documenting the progress made and the challenges that entities may face, along with providing recommendations and technical support. The new decision also repealed all previous decisions or systems related to job evaluation and classification that conflict with its provisions. The emirate called on government entities to review their job listings, align them with the new groups, and submit modification requests through the approved electronic job evaluation and classification system.
