Shannon Sharpe parts ways with ESPN following sexual assault lawsuit settlement
Sharpe initially announced a temporary leave from the network in April 2025 to address the legal matter. In a public statement shared at the time, Sharpe maintained that the relationship in question was '100% consensual' and labeled the lawsuit 'false and disruptive.' ESPN supported his decision to step away, stating, 'This is a serious situation, and we agree with Shannon's decision to step away.'
The lawsuit, filed by an unnamed Nevada woman under the pseudonym 'Jane Doe,' accused Sharpe of rape and threats during a two-year relationship. She sought $50 million in damages. Sharpe's attorney, Lanny J. Davis, dismissed the allegations as 'a blatant and cynical attempt to shake down Mr. Sharpe,' calling the claims 'filled with lies, distortions, and misrepresentations.'
The two parties reached a confidential settlement following what the plaintiff's attorney Tony Buzbee described as 'protracted and respectful' negotiations. The case was officially dismissed with prejudice on July 18, meaning it cannot be refiled.
Sharpe, 57, joined ESPN's 'First Take' in 2023 and had recently signed a new agreement in 2024 to expand his appearances, typically hosting segments on Mondays and Tuesdays. In addition to his ESPN work, he also hosts the popular 'Club Shay Shay' podcast.
Sharpe rose to prominence as an NFL analyst after a Hall of Fame career with the Denver Broncos and later became a fixture on Fox Sports' 'Undisputed' alongside Skip Bayless. Neither ESPN nor Sharpe's representatives have provided additional comment on his departure.

Lady Gaga to release new song for Netflix's 'Wednesday' Season 2 alongside appearance on the show
Lady Gaga is confirmed to release a new track titled Dead Dance for the second season of the Tim Burton-directed Netflix series Wednesday. Two sources close to the production revealed the news to Variety, confirming fan theories that had circulated in recent months. The song and its accompanying video are scheduled for release next month, timed with Gaga's on-screen appearance as Rosaline Rotwood who is described as a 'legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.' Reps for the singer declined to comment, but industry insiders have linked the song's production to Andrew Watt and Cirkut, who also worked on Gaga's Mayhem album. Although she was absent from the recent Wednesday Season 2 premiere in London due to her ongoing Mayhem Ball tour, Burton praised her creative energy. 'She's such an artist and so for me, working with an artist is inspirational,' he told Variety. The new season also includes Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Steve Buscemi, and Joanna Lumley. The first four episodes of Wednesday Season 2 will be released on Netflix on August 6, 2025, at 3 am ET / 12 am PT. The final four episodes will follow on September 3, 2025.

Dez Bryant considers suing Nicki Minaj after explosive social media feud
NFL star Dez Bryant and rapper Nicki Minaj are at the center of an explosive online feud that has captivated both the sports and entertainment worlds. The drama began when Bryant defended Jay-Z and Roc Nation after Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones blamed the agency for past contract issues involving linebacker Micah Parsons. Nicki Minaj, who has been publicly feuding with Roc Nation and CEO Desiree Perez, unexpectedly jumped in. She responded to Bryant's post on X (formerly Twitter) with a warning, saying she would begin sharing her own 'story time' if he continued speaking about Jay-Z and the NFL. Things quickly turned personal. Minaj brought up Bryant's 2012 domestic violence charge involving his mother, an accusation he strongly denied. Bryant fired back by mentioning Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, a registered sex offender. The feud escalated when Minaj offered Bryant $10 million to fight Petty, writing, 'since you beat your own mom.' In response, Bryant rejected the accusation and challenged Minaj to produce the money, calling the entire situation 'weird.' I've been lied on my whole career so I'm not trying to hear all of that shit..I thought we was speaking facts.. I don't play all of that funny shit… go get that 10 million in cash.. I'll stomp that nigga out right in front of you.. and it's ROC for life bitch — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) August 4, 2025 Following days of public exchanges, Bryant returned to social media to apologize for his role in the feud. He expressed regret for 'crashing out,' saying he wants to set a better example for young followers. I'm not in the sphere of people crashing out on the internet. I don't bother people..I never do. I was just posting about my son. I let the devil win that time…I apologize to the kids who follow me because I care about setting the right example more than you the… — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) August 4, 2025 Bryant also hinted at possible legal action, stating, 'We might have to go step in front of the court of law,' in response to Minaj's public claims. The feud has sparked viral attention, bringing new scrutiny to the ongoing tension between Roc Nation and its critics.

EA delays The Sims 5 to protect decade's worth of DLC content from The Sims 4
Electronic Arts (EA) is holding off on releasing The Sims 5, citing concerns over the massive amount of downloadable content (DLC) players have invested in The Sims 4 since its 2014 launch. In a recent interview with Variety, EA president Laura Miele revealed that the company doesn't want fans to lose the progress and content they've accumulated over the past decade. 'What I wouldn't want to have happen is you to have to start from day zero… and give up all of the content you've purchased,' Miele explained. Since its release, The Sims 4 has introduced over 85 expansion packs, game packs, and kits — many sold as premium DLC. EA acknowledges that asking players to abandon these purchases isn't 'player friendly.' Miele also emphasized that The Sims 4 is now 'technologically strong' enough to continue evolving without needing a sequel. Instead of a clean-slate Sims 5, EA is shifting focus to spin-offs like Project Rene, a multiplayer project in development, and cross-media ventures such as The Sims movie, being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Margot Robbie's LuckyChap. The film presents new opportunities to merge linear storytelling and interactive gameplay, potentially introducing its characters and themes into The Sims 4 through future DLC. With the franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary, EA is opting for innovation through expansion rather than replacement — signaling a new era of transmedia storytelling for The Sims and other top EA titles.
