Kharge to address Congress workers' meeting today
All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge, who arrived in Hyderabad on Thursday, would address the heads of village units of the Congress in Telangana, which the party says is the biggest such meeting of the Congress president.
He was received at the airport by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge of TG Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Goud.
During his address, Mr. Kharge is likely to focus on Congress party's 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' programme, being held across the country. The meeting has a lot of significance for the morale of the party workers as they brace for the local body elections soon.
Leaders queue up
On his arrival at a private hotel in the city, senior leaders queued up to meet the party president. Minister Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali, who were in the thick of political action criticising the Warangal Congress leaders, met Mr. Kharge apparently to explain their position.
Ministerial aspirants Prem Sagar Rao, P Sudarshan Reddy, T Rammohan Reddy, Balu Naik and Malreddy Ranga Reddy were among those who called on Mr. Kharge. He is said to have pacified them on why they had to be left out of the Cabinet expansion. Their services would be utilised as per their seniority.
Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agriculture University Vice Chancellor Aldas Janaiah, Education Commission Chairman Akunuri Murali were among those who met. They apparently explained the steps being taken to strengthen education in Telangana.
The Congress president is also expected to meet the senior leaders on Friday morning to get their feedback on the government's performance and party's preparation for the upcoming local body polls.

KT Rama Rao slams Congress for targeting BRS workers, questions ‘Indiramma Rajyam' claims
HYDERABAD: Stating that the BRS government never foisted cases against Opposition leaders, BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged that the present Congress regime was registering cases against the pink party workers for questioning it. 'Is this called Indiramma Raajyam,' Rama Rao asked while addressing the gathering after welcoming several Congress workers and councillors from erstwhile Medak district into the BRS at Telangana Bhavan on Monday. Those who joined the BRS were mostly the followers of Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao. Rama Rao said that people have never seen such a chief minister like A Revanth Reddy. 'The time has come to teach a lesson to Revanth Reddy,' he said. 'Should we only praise the chief minister, without the freedom to express our opinions? Is this what Indiramma's rule is supposed to be? If the Congress fulfils its assurances, people themselves will genuinely praise the chief minister,' Rama Rao said. He alleged that the government failed to implement its assurances like crop loan waiver, increasing the Rythu Bharosa and social security pension amounts. Rama Rao also dismissed the claims of the chief minister that the Congress would win 100 seats in the next Assembly elections. 'People have seen chief ministers like NTR, N Chandrababu Naidu, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, K Rosaiah and KCR. They are now opposing Revanth Reddy as CM,' he said. Meanwhile, BRS MLA T Harish Rao said that KCR provided Rythu Bandhu assistance between two crop seasons, whereas the Congress was distributing it between elections. He recalled that Rythu Bandhu implementation was not stopped even during Covid-19 pandemic. Former Medak MLA Padma Devender Reddy and others were present on the occasion.

Telangana state BJP president Ramchander Rao demands demolition of Akbaruddin Owaisi college
HYDERABAD: Newly appointed state BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the Congress government of showing undue favouritism towards a college built by AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, allegedly on Salkam lake bed. In a strongly worded statement, Ramchander questioned why the government granted relaxations to this college while taking a harsh stance against poor families residing in the Musi River catchment area, despite them having purchased the land legally and obtained necessary permissions. He demanded the immediate demolition of the college, warning that BJP cadre would 'take action' if the government failed to do so. He criticised the government's justification for the relaxation, citing provision of education to 10,000 students at the college. 'If the government can show such leniency here, why not for the lakhs of poor people living near the Musi? Why are their homes being demolished even after they paid taxes and followed due procedures?' he asked. He further pointed out that the government had already granted relaxations to the college for the previous academic year. 'Instead of repeatedly bending rules, the management should have been given time to relocate and continue education elsewhere,' he said. He also levelled serious allegations against Akbaruddin Owaisi, accusing him of 'grabbing government land, evading taxes, and even sheltering terrorists.' He demanded immediate action against the MLA and the demolition of the disputed structure. Ramchander also condemned recent attacks on media houses and urged the government to ensure their safety. He issued a stern warning to the BRS, saying, 'If they target media outlets, the BJP's state unit will retaliate by safeguarding journalists and counter-attacking BRS-affiliated media.'
