Vile boyfriend tried to bite out fiancée's eyeball and beat her unconscious after celebrating her pregnancy

Daily Mail24-06-2025
A vile boyfriend who tried to bite his pregnant fiancée's eyeball out and beat her unconscious is back behind bars.
Benjamin Jones, 30, bit his partner's face, pulled her mouth apart and spat inside before headbutting her in the face whilst violently pulling her hair at their home in Attleborough, Norfolk.
He tried to bite her eye out, telling her that he would disfigure her so that no one else would want her after celebrating news of her pregnancy.
But fortunately his teeth missed and instead he gouged out a chunk of her eyebrow.
Vile Jones is now back behind bars after trying to contact the victim, who has a 10-year restraining order against him.
During his original sentencing, the court had heard details of his campaign of terror against his partner with the couple having met in in 2021, when she was 24.
They had bonded over a drink and enjoyed a whirlwind romance, involving lavish holidays and expensive gifts.
However, shortly after their engagement the violence escalated.
The attack in which he bit her face came after the couple had celebrated the news of her pregnancy with family in the town.
She had returned home earlier but when she heard him pull up in their driveway he became loud and violent.
Fearful for her life, she called 999 before hiding her phone where he would not be able to find it.
Jones grabbed her off the toilet, put her in the bath and ripped her engagement ring from her finger.
He pulled her mouth apart and spat inside, before headbutting her in the face while violently pulling her hair.
Jones then dragged her through the bedroom by her hair and began strangling her.
In a statement to police she said she thought she was going to die, and when officers found her, she was unconscious and Jones had fled the scene.
It took the police two days to arrest him, while she recovered in hospital.
Police were told the victim had received a black eye, hand prints from slaps across her body and scarring from other assaults.
They also heard that she had been thrown outside naked and made to sleep there, in freezing temperatures.
Jones also put her in the back of his car in her pyjamas and told her he was going to put her in a ditch.
He violently beat her before chucking her out on the side of the road.
On other occasions, he slammed her foot in the door, smashed several phones, caused bruising by slapping her and pushed her downstairs.
Jones, previously of Attleborough was convicted last June of two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and another of assault by beating, all relating to his sustained abuse of his partner.
He also pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and possession of a Class A drug, cocaine, and possession of a Class B drug, cannabis and cannabis resin.
Jones was held on remand before his sentencing and had served a total of 18 months in prison before he was released on license.
His recall has led domestic violence groups to question whether abusers are being let out of jail too quickly.
A police spokesman said: 'A 30-year-old man has been arrested and recalled to prison.'
Emma Nurse, of Leeway Domestic Violence and Abuse Services, said: 'It's important that the dangers that perpetrators of domestic abuse pose is fully recognised.
'We know that they will go to extreme lengths to continue to maintain their power and control over their victim, including disregarding any restrictions that are put in place to keep victims safe.
'While we know that there are many challenges posed due to the overcrowding of prisons, the safety of victims must be the priority and we support the view of national organisations, such as Women's Aid, that perpetrators of domestic abuse must be exempt from early release.
'It's important that we send out a strong message that domestic abuse is not tolerated and that tough action will be taken against perpetrators, whilst ensuring the safety of survivors.'

Two men ‘shot prison officer dead in revenge for exposing illicit affair with female guard'

TWO men shot a prison officer dead in a revenge attack after he exposed one of their affairs with a female jail guard, a court heard. Lenny Scott was gunned down outside a gym in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, in an "act of retaliation", it is said. 4 4 Jurors heard he had lived in fear for his "family's life" after he was threatened by prisoner Elias Morgan over a four-year period. Morgan, 35, allegedly wanted to get revenge after Lenny exposed an illicit relationship involving him and a female officer at HMP Altcourse. The prison guard had discovered a phone in Morgan's cell that revealed the sexual affair with Sarah Williams, jurors heard. Prosecutor Alex Leach KC said when Lenny refused a £1,500 offer to "lose" the phone, Morgan responded with "powerfully made" threats. This included Morgan allegedly telling him: "I'll bide my time, but I promise I will get you" before making a gun gesture. Four days after the phone was seized, he made a 101 call to police claiming a car had been "sat outside my house all weekend". Preston Crown Court heard Lenny told the operator in March 2020 a prisoner had been "threatening my family". When she asked who had made the threat, he replied: "Elias Morgan. He's described my family and me to a tee, described my house." Lenny said the threats came after he had "nicked" Morgan "for a phone". The prison officer said: "Until I 'drop' that, he said they're staying there and they're just going to constantly be around my house, and I'm just in fear for my family's life." The court heard on February 8 last year, Lenny was outside a gym when he was approached by a gunman in a high-vis jacket who shot him once in the head and five times to the body. Morgan is accused of being the gunman, while co-defendant Anthony Cleary, 29, allegedly left a van and electric bike for him. Police have now released images seen by jurors of the pair together at Glastonbury in 2023. It came just days Morgan entered a not guilty plea to possession of the unauthorised phone found by Lenny. Morgan and Cleary, both from the Edge Hill area of Liverpool, deny murder. Cleary also denies an alternative charge of manslaughter. The trial continues. 4 4

Man, 29, died 'on his first holiday with friends' after drowning in the sea off Skegness beach

A man has died after being pulled from the sea at a coastal resort while on his 'first holiday' with friends. The holidaymaker, named online as Aaron Keightley, 29, was taken by the current while enjoying the heatwave in Skegness, Lincolnshire, on Monday, according to an online fundraising appeal posted by his sister. The county's RNLI Lifeguards told in a Facebook post how they recovered an 'unconscious member of the public from the water south of central beach, after he got into difficulty in the surf.' It added: 'Despite their best efforts to resuscitate him, the casualty sadly passed away at the scene. Our thoughts go to the family and friends affected by the incident, along with many of the beach visitors who witnessed the tragic events at the time.' East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance also attended the incident on Monday afternoon – the second beach fatality in the area in as many days. On Saturday afternoon a teenage boy vanished from Anderby Creek, between the resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe. A body was recovered in the early hours of Sunday. Those tragedies came just a matter of weeks after hero holidaymaker Alexandru Melei, 60, died after wading into the sea at Ingoldmells, also near Skegness, after hearing twin girls screaming for help – only to be overwhelmed by the swell. The fundraiser set up to help meet funeral costs is aiming to raise £2,200 for 'selfless and loving' Aarron's family, from Leicester. A message alongside the appeal by sibling Shannon said: 'On 30/06/2025 my brother lost his whole future, he went on his first friends' holiday and lost his life to the sea on Skegness beach! 'The current took him so quickly and there is no fight against the sea!' Outlining the family's 'heart wrenching pain', she added: 'We really want to give him everything and more and show him how loved and adored he is and always will be, there will never be another person like him'. She said Mr Keightley would give his last pound and 'deserves a great send-off'. As she told how her brother would be 'forever 29', the grieving sibling urged people to be careful in the sea 'no matter your size or strength'. Shannon later posted on Facebook: 'Love you so much brother, heartbroken your(sic) gone, forever 29'. On Sunday, Lincolnshire Police said in relation to the weekend incident: 'We are saddened to report that a body was found in the early hours of this morning in the search for a teenager who had been reported missing from Anderby Creek.' The statement added: 'We would like to thank the public's help in allowing emergency services to respond to the incident. 'Our thoughts at this time are with the boy's family.' Romanian Mr Melei died on May 25 while on a trip to the UK to visit friends. His daughter later told how the ex-army medic had been walking along the promenade with his wife and friend when they heard two girls screaming in the water. The friend managed to rescue one of the children but Mr Melei was overcome by the swell and died in hospital. Both children emerged unscathed.

British killer nurse Lucy Letby could face more charges

Murder squad detectives investigating British child killer Lucy Letby have passed evidence of further allegations related to baby deaths and collapses at the hospitals where she worked. The allegations are now being considered by lawyers at the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) after receiving the new evidence from Cheshire Police in recent days. Advertisement The number and exact nature of the potential new offences has not been made public yet and it could take weeks before a decision is made on whether to charge Letby with more offences. In a statement, a CPS spokesman said: 'We can confirm that we have received a full file of evidence from Cheshire Constabulary asking us to consider further allegations in relation to deaths and non-fatal collapses of babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women's Hospital. 'We will now carefully consider the evidence to determine whether any further criminal charges should be brought. Letby was a nurse at Liverpool Women's Hospital (Alamy/PA) 'As always, we will make that decision independently, based on the evidence and in line with our legal test.' Advertisement A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: 'We can confirm that Cheshire Constabulary has submitted a full file of evidence to the CPS for charging advice regarding the ongoing investigation into deaths and non-fatal collapses of babies at the neo-natal units of both the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Liverpool Women's Hospital as part of Operation Hummingbird.' The Daily Mail has reported consideration of any new charges will involve the British government's most senior lawyers, including Stephen Parkinson, the director of public prosecutions, and Attorney General Lord Hermer KC. News of potential fresh charges emerged hours after police confirmed three people who were part of the senior leadership team at the hospital where Letby worked have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. Cheshire Constabulary said the suspects, who occupied senior positions at the Countess of Chester Hospital (CoCH) between 2015 and 2016, were arrested on Monday. Advertisement All three have since been bailed pending further inquiries, the force added. Lady Justice Thirlwall will deliver her findings in early 2026 (Peter Byrne/PA) Letby (35), from Hereford in England, is serving 15 whole-life orders after she was convicted of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others, with two attempts on one of her victims, between June 2015 and June 2016. Police said corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter probes are continuing. Following the arrests, senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Paul Hughes said: 'In October 2023 following the lengthy trial and subsequent conviction of Lucy Letby, Cheshire Constabulary launched an investigation into corporate manslaughter at the Countess of Chester Hospital (CoCH). Advertisement 'This focuses on senior leadership and their decision-making to determine whether any criminality has taken place concerning the response to the increased levels of fatalities. 'In March 2025 the scope of the investigation widened to also include gross negligence manslaughter. 'This is a separate offence to corporate manslaughter and focuses on the grossly negligent action or inaction of individuals. 'It is important to note that this does not impact on the convictions of Lucy Letby for multiple offences of murder and attempted murder.' Advertisement A spokeswoman for CoCH reiterated it 'would not be appropriate' for the hospital to comment 'due to the Thirlwall Inquiry and the ongoing police investigations'. The Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, where Letby worked (PA) Letby's barrister Mark McDonald said the police's latest announcement has come at a 'very sensitive time' and that a proper and full public inquiry into failings by the hospital is needed. He said: 'Yet another press release from the police at a very sensitive time when the CCRC (Criminal Cases Review Commission) are looking at the case of Lucy Letby. 'Despite this, the concerns many have raised will not go away, and we will continue to publicly discuss them. 'The reality is that 26 internationally renowned experts have looked at this case and the lead expert has concluded that no crime was committed, no babies were murdered. 'What is needed is a proper and full public inquiry into the failings of the neonatal and paediatric medical care unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.' World Lucy Letby 'innocent' and regularly 'cried in my a... Read More Police are continuing a review of deaths and non-fatal collapses of babies at the neonatal units of the Countess of Chester and Liverpool Women's Hospital during Letby's time as a nurse from 2012 to 2016. Letby, who has always maintained her innocence, lost two bids last year to challenge her convictions at the UK court of appeal for the seven murders and seven attempted murders, and in October for the attempted murder of a baby girl, which she was convicted of by a different jury at a retrial. Lady Justice Thirlwall is due to publish the findings from her public inquiry in early 2026.
